      There’s online school as well. I went to grade 7 to finishing high school exclusively on the internet. No zoom calls, just a document or a RUclips video then some short questions after. Each assignment has a due date, but for my school at least they didn’t care much to enforce it. So I often had a backlog of assignments in 7-8 courses stretching back 5+ months which I did them all in a couple of weeks during summer vacation.
      A lot of freedom but it gets lonely compared to an in person or zoom school.

      Perhaps I should explain it from MY point of view. He's a kid who's been stuck on a boat for 7 years with his family. He has no tangible friends. Tangible meaning people he can hang out with in person. His mother is only teaching him basics and it appears he received no structural formal education. This is important because a good primary education gives you the skills you need to survive in a modern world. Also, it looks like he just basically hangs out all day.
      So what is going to happen to him when, eventually, this world cruise ends and he becomes an adult. He will be in the world with no in person social skills and no education. What kind of job will he get and how will he support himself? I don't call that 'doing well.' That is MY 'common fucking sense.'

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 11 месяцев назад

      @@trisbane4086 Did you ever see the Rodney Dangerfield movie Back To School? The scene when he's in the business class and clashes with the professor? That movie actually came out when I WAS in college. I thought that scene was funny but after a few years in the profession, I found out so much of the points about real life in business Dangerfield made was true. My favorite line from that scene was when the professor asked where they should build their factory and Dangerfield says 'how about fantasyland?' 😂
      In college, we learned about integrity in business. About how good businesses create products that people need which furthers society and make life better and easier. How it creates good paying jobs for people which raises their standard of living and allows them to buy MORE durable goods. How mass production lowers prices and makes your product more available for the economically challenged. And that increases profits and makes more money for shareholders. How creating a good well made product that lasts is paramount. How accurate accounting is the honest way because it's your businesses reputation that is at stake and the shareholders have a right to honest books and the government expects it.
      Then, I found out the truth. Businesses work to make their books have the outcome THEY want instead of the real numbers. That just getting 'close enough' to the numbers is good enough because people don't have the time and are overworked because they company won't hire much needed people because it would be a drain on profits and executive salaries. Then there was the outsourcing to foreign countries who could make the product cheaper. Of course, that mean the quality of the product was cheap too and would break easily or not last as long (if it worked at all out of the box). Then they expected Americans to BUY their cheap goods even though those foreigners may have taken much needed jobs from them. Then there are the ways to scam customers out of warranties. The games they play with customer service so you can't actually reach people. Don't even get me started on how the lie to and try to stave off government agents and regulators. Then there is the total lack of caring about their employees. How they are treated more like a cog in a piece of machinery rather than humans. I used to laugh at the name 'human resources department.' I used to say 'what the hell is so HUMAN about them?'
      Have you heard enough, or would you like MORE examples? Like people who gave 25 or 30 years of loyal service to companies and one day they just call them in and tell them they're through because they're getting too old and make too much money but they aren't old enough to retire and get their pensions/401K and Social Security but they are way too old for anyone else to want to hire.

I keep in touch with some of my traveling friends, but I do wish that they weren't so far from me. I gotta say though, after traveling for so long, It's made me really appreciate the stable friendships I now have. Now, i'm in florida and i've been here for a few years. But while it's great to have friends, i miss traveling and seeing incredible things and never knowing what i'd do the next day. Each lifestyle that i've lived has taught me something new, and both have pros and cons. But I think i'm starting to learn that adventure doesn't require traveling somewhere new, and a fulfilled life can happen right here where I am. Idk, just wanted to share that ig. Life is crazy!

    Good Job Finn! I understand what you are going through and it IS tough sometimes. My family traveled to a new country every 6 months for years and it was so difficult for my son to make friends, he's your age. Luckily, for both of you, this kind of lifestyle creates the most interesting kind of person. I see it in you, your siblings and my son. It's a purity of kindness, an awareness of the feelings and essence of those around you. You have a natural sense of goodness and these qualities will be with you forever Finn, and as I tell my son, it's these qualities that will attract the most deep friendships. These kinds of friendships last a life time! You are so blessed to be in this state of calmness while you learn and your parents are just wonderful for giving you the opportunity to develop into such a great man. Bravo!

      That’s what you hope. Not everyone is the same. I know a kid of parents who also have to move countries each 6 months because of their jobs, the kid HATES IT. Because he loses the deep connection he had with his friends over time because they don’t hang out often anymore. As a kid, it sucks to leave your friends all the time. Family is important yes, but having friends who can stay with you forever is also important! And the parents make good money yes, but the kids have to suffer because of the decisions of the parents. all because the parents wanted to travel and earn money. Such parents should not have children, children just want to play and have long lasting friends. Not temporary friends and then moving on. Just don’t have children if your happiness is more important than theirs. Instead of equal

    • @Catthepunk
      @Catthepunk Год назад

      My parents moved a lot. I don't want to do that when I have kids. Well, I mean, not like my parents did. I'd want to have friends who have children the same age as my kids to travel with.
      Traveling was fun, but I only have like 3 solid childhood friends now, and I'm still far away from them most times. When I was 18 or so I realised for the first time that I need to invest in my friendships because the friends I made traveling would just dissappear. Now I have more homies, and although I had to go to live w my nan recently, taking me away from them, I know I'm gonna be back soon enough and a few of them want to travel the world as well as I.

    I've been dreaming of the sailboat-life for quite a few years now. In a society, where every student is longing for finishing school so they can go travel around the world and get a sense of freedom, it is very rare to see a different kind of living, where you don't strive for something in the future, but are completely present in the moment. It's refreshing to see someone like you really appreciating your current surroundings and being present where you are at the moment. Thank you for sharing this:) It is interesting to hear you mention the less appealing things about the life on a sailboat, the not really having any close friends your age part. I have never really thought about that before, it is very easy to envy another lifestyle than your own when you don't know it's downsides. I guess there's pros and cons for every lifestyle. I'm sure you will build deep and long-lasting friendships someday:) There's a time for everything, and we all need to trust God's path for us. God bless:))

    Great job Finn! I started watching you guys a while ago and then binge-watched until I caught up, now I am watching yours as well. I have 2 teenage kids that are in the process of saving up and if all goes as planned should be living that life in a couple of years. It has been interesting watching and learning from the videos, but it is also great to see things from your perspective as well. It's great that you get to learn more of the important things from school, than some of the useless things everybody else learns through the years. (ooops that is my inner voice speaking) Keep up the good work everyone!

    Finn, you have friends! They’re just like mine… online, and I live on land. As for school… public school is the drags. Homeschool crushes it. Your fam is the BOMB. I full time RV’d twice, as a teen and grown adult with my own business. I also lived in 30 different places. Nothing and no one holds me heart like my family. Glad you’re RUclips-ing. Excellent content, editing and audio layers, I’m impressed! Keep posting, snd we’ll keep watching. God bless!

    Im literally so glad that u came across while watching RUclips. I immediately watched all of your previous videos. You have such a nice aura and it’s super interesting to watch ur life as a teenager living on a sailboat. But as you already answered some questions in this and the previous video, I still have some questions. Like, how do you guys get clean water and how do you get electricity?
    Thank you for making my day and starting this RUclips channel, it’s amazing :) ❤️
    (And if you were curious, you already have some people watching from across the entire world. For example: me. I’m from Europe :))
