What I loved most about Mr. Russell was the wisdom, the knowledge, and the stories he imparted on those who knew him. I love that video of him sitting down with KG and speaking to him like a grandson and in KG's eyes, you could see the amount of admiration he had for Mr. Russell. The man was an activist and an icon is every sense of the word. May God love his soul and may He be with his loved ones at this time.

Did games on tv & worked in front offices. May have been firsts or at least one of the pioneers of what is now common. Oakland McClymonds High & Oakland has lead fights.

A great basketball player but an even better humanitarian! One of the greatest winners of the league and one of the most successful careers in basketball history. The amount of racism and other things he had to suffer didn't stop him from speaking out and standing for what is right! The NBA will definitely miss him. No matter what his place is in the all time rankings, his stance for civil rights means that much more. One of my favorite memories is when Mr. Russell during one if his last title runs and he was interviewed after the game, and he got emotional. Such a great moment from a great man. One if the most unselfish superstars of all time.
