What I loved most about Mr. Russell was the wisdom, the knowledge, and the stories he imparted on those who knew him. I love that video of him sitting down with KG and speaking to him like a grandson and in KG's eyes, you could see the amount of admiration he had for Mr. Russell. The man was an activist and an icon is every sense of the word. May God love his soul and may He be with his loved ones at this time.

A great basketball player but an even better humanitarian! One of the greatest winners of the league and one of the most successful careers in basketball history.
The amount of racism and other things he had to suffer didn't stop him from speaking out and standing for what is right!
The NBA will definitely miss him. No matter what his place is in the all time rankings, his stance for civil rights means that much more.
One of my favorite memories is when Mr. Russell during one if his last title runs and he was interviewed after the game, and he got emotional. Such a great moment from a great man.

He was a team first player superstar and then if he had to take over at times and go hero ball then he would but Bill Russell was so much more that just a pro basketball player..
Bill's career in some ways reminds me of Duncan's career, to great very selfless superstars and there is other selfless superstars I could compare in some ways to Bill.

it’s honestly ridiculous and incredibly disrespectful when they always have the GOAT debates, not once do they mention Mr. Russell. now since he’s dead, everyone is gonna act like he’s the GOAT or at least mention him. no one is getting 11 nba rings ever again.

No disrespect, but there were 12 teams in the NBA when he played.

Championships are a team reward not individual, and he played in a weak era. He's 12th all time at worst tho. Probably 11th or 10th.

@@mccleandazza4618 you’re talking about professional athletes. stop acting like they are were like you and i.
professional athletes in any era are great. being top 3 in any era isn’t easy.
