I sat here for hours the first time I heard it and every now and then I turn to this , on cycle constantly . I just can't get enought of his phrasing , the way he just carries the whole aria with such ease . Every word like it's supposed to be like that , nothing feels wrong nor forced . At 1:50 it's just magic ,voice just floats like a butterfly , vibrato is perfect his timbre and resonance gives it so much character .
This was a glorious voice, one that the angels lent us for awhile!!!

He is very careful at singing impeccably!!! The brightness of his timber makes it delicious!!! The richness of harmonics, compact sound, and warmth is what gives him that sensation of bass-baritone. His impeccable (Russian) Technic allows him to reach the high notes well covered with out loosing any brightness, and that gives the sensation of easiness in the "highs" which doesn't mean he is a Tenor.

Bass-baritone? Dramatic tenor? This is a kavalier baritone voice, borderline Verdi. It is a unique voice, to be sure, which is why people have trouble classifying it. He has a dark timbre, and yet his voice sits on the very high side for a baritone. He sings high As like it's his purpose in life. Listen to his Verdi rep, or his Faust. You'll hear that he's nothing like a bass-baritone.
He is my favorite Baritone, I heard almost everything he made. He es a Lyric Baritone, not dramatic tenor not bass baritone, he never went lower than an A and he is able to go up until high A very easy!! and that my friends is a perfect Baritone register the thing is the dark colour of his voice, he's russian don't forget it!

Beautiful, poised tone, as always, but why the funereal tempo? It is a sombre song, to be sure, but this reading borders on parody. He turned "Caro mil ben" into a dirge.
Absoluitely agree: When russian singers interprets italian music they always exaggerate: Tempo is dreadfully slow: IKt is not Boris!.

He is an excellent LYRIC baritone (currently unparalleled); but he is able, trough an effect, to sound dramatic; not with volume, not with a real SIZE of the voice, I've herd him alive in Theater twice; MET NY, and Bellas Artes México. NOT REAL DRAMATIC.

Peor es la pronunciacion de Pavarotti-un ejemplo- cantando obras en otros idiomas distintos al italiano. Ningun conocedor le pide a los cantantes pronunciacion perfecta en todos los idiomas ,excepto los criticos de ocasion que no tienen nada que escribir.
