"Retail on these is a bit high, but if you can find it on clearance..." Arcade1up in a nutshell.
It's nice to see that Arcade1up is using arcade roms and not NES roms
Yeah, they've always been good about getting actual arcade ROMs. They've only gone with NES on a chip for one product line, and it's one of their failing lines due to not being taken seriously enough. Aside from that the only time they've used console ROMs were on a couple of Marvel cabs where they added games that don't HAVE an arcade version. (and I, personally, am okay with that)
AtGames, smh
Cant say the same for NES1up...
You are so close to 1 Million! Congrats ahead of time 🎉
I was thinking this channel has Millions of Subs already for years. This a little shocking to me. ETA is a Institution.
Couldn’t have done my launchbox arcades without him! He’s the man!
Amazing of you for your donations to the boys and girls club btw. Happy new year from a fan in Australia!
Yeah I'd definitely go with a Legends Gamer Mini or Pro over this, same functionality more buttons, power, and games. And you can add your own games easily.
The processor, the RK3032 is a Dual Core Cortex A7 and was used in the Gamestick Lite 4k a few years back, probably a tweaked version of the RK3036
Thank you so much ETA for mentioning me. It was such a shock to hear you mention my channel and it’s most appreciated! I don’t have this one YET but frustrating it’s not hackable (yet!) cheers and thanks!!
Do you have a recommendation on a simple emulation box? Something I can just buy on Amazon, open the box, plug it in, hook it up, and I'm playing??
@@KCBAIRS I’m guessing your asking ETA?but if your asking me I normally deal with portables, still I’m looking into this and should have an answer soon (and will probably do a review on it too)
That was my first mini arcade in the 80s pac man. So that would be cool for some people.
yo im just super hyped about gfuels new collectors box collab with pacman
The board has 2 spots to solder usb ports on it. May also beaable to short the pins on the nand flash and get in to the bootloader.
Just got this for Christmas and it went back. LOL. 😂
Nice analysis, Prime. The lack of buttons definitely limits what games you'd be able to add anyway. You'd be much better off with an AtGames mini for $100...8 buttons with 100 games onboard.
Yes this is better option beside you can add your own games via usb and allow second player controller
@@r3troid or wifi, from what I can tell 😉
The biggest part of this is the 4 way gate joystick. There are around 700 arcade games that were designed with a 4 way gate and 3 or fewer buttons. Having a nice small set up that has a 4 way gate that you could easily add games to would be kinda cool but you're still better off building your own stick with an SBC in my opinion.
@xwlfx315x good points there. You got me to thinking though...why are the pis still so hard to come by? I know there are now a lot of alternative SBCs available, but a lot are as or more expensive than the current pi prices...🤔
I purchased a small AV plug in unit that has pretty much all thee same game around 10 years ago for around 20 bucks. Not a great buy for this unit unless it’s eventually hackable. There’s a million better ways to play Pac-Man or Gallaga on your tv without having a huge controller in the way when you’re not paying it.
Its not for ppl who want to do a ton of things with it. Its for like an uncle or grandma who just want to occasionally play some Pac-Man and just hop in. But they should have gone with at least 20-30 games
It would be cool to see a tear down of the couch cade stick unit. Where are the ROMs stored? Does the documentation state what the SD card slot is for? Can it be used to record game play? So instead of trying to pair the control console over wireless is there a way to tether it to a better arcade computer?
I got the Atari version for my uncle as a Christmas gift due to him occupying the entirety of the Missile Command high score list on my A1U Tempest cab. He loves it. There is definitely a market for this product, A1U just doesn't seem to know how to tap it.
The trackball and spinner seem like a useful thing to hook up to a raspberry pi (if possible) for other games. - Not just the games that come with it.
@@michaelleiper The way it works you can't hook up a Pi to it without modding it. At that stage you might as well get some more proper parts to put something together.
@@FormulaFox Unfortunate. Was hoping the wireless connection might be something reasonably standard (or hackable).
@@michaelleiper If it's hackable, nobody's figured it out. Frankly, you can probably built your own control panel with a trackball and spinner for a similar price.
@@FormulaFox Spinners and trackballs aren't cheap - and even in the UK, I can see it available with a 35% discount from RRP already. Suddenly that's cheaper than just getting a decent spinner and trackball. (Admittedly I don't know how good these are...)
what about the other away around? see if you can use the controller with different boards with better hdmi output. then you might be able to add any game while keeping this form factor.
I would love this for other games, I don't have the money or space for a marvel vs capcom cab, but I would buy this in a instant.
Even if you could add games with the 3 button combo it would be limited so no fighters or consoles
My brother gifted me a linux stick with the same chip, I hope some development will be done to modify these systems!
Your gadjets are good
Wish they had a Battlezone version with 2 sticks. Oh well...
Now your talking my language, if only, because Robotron could be another game for that system, as well as Smash TV, i think its name is, there's 3 i can think of, off the top of my head.
yolo happy new year
This reminds me of the atgames legends mini. Have you done a video on that one?
Nice looking peice of kit. The 720p thing ... sames as the mini/maxi TheC64 and TheA500... I can't understand it.
does the giant joystick pacman little box portion work with this couchcade controller ? they seem to be the same little box..... if they are compatible with each other then you could just add the games on it then pair the couchcade controller with it. try it and let us know.
I think I have the older version. They must have the emulators prebuilt just in case someone wants to use their “licensed” games. I think I have 5 different consoles. You just put the ROMs in SD card. That’s it.
You're as bad as I am with these games. I appreciate all your reviews.
They have some nice gear, but this one is £200 in the UK.
2 ton ? Are they having a turkish ?
They're havin' a bloody morrocan more like. A toucan for this!?
Nice
An Xarcade solo plus your choice of emulator setup would be better.
The console led red light stays on even if i turn off the button and the tv is also off am i doing something wrong i need any help help.😮
I have the Mega Man equivalent to this. You should be able to play NES, SNES, Genesis\Mega Drive, Game Boy Advance and Game Gear on this thing. I tore mine apart and the internals are identical. I wanna know what that grayish plug in spot next to where the USB ports are (the post holes are there in your video) is supposed to do........
Also the Aracde1Up HDMI models are compatible with PS3\PS4, Xbox 1 and Classic Playstation Mini Controllers. I've been writing to them to try and open up the controller availability wider (8bitdo would be nice to use on these units)
Pass. Thanks 🎮
Is that an 8-way joystick?
I always here from American RUclipsrs how you get stuff like this on clearance for a massive discount like £50, we never get anything that cheap in the uk, second hand shops charge full price over here when our country is in an appalling state. How lucky you are over there.
👍👍
Why they chose to go with 2 pieces rather than having an all in one.
It would be great if it's possible to replace arcade 1up pacman control board with this and enjoy more games.
I know there are many diy options but this still cheaper and arcade1up splash screen make it legit.
Buy a entry level arcade stick and load up your computer with mame
Yeah that would be cool for $50
Hope someone does find a way to get more games on this device.
I have an old model and it just need the follow steps to load roms:
1- Buy a less than 32 GB SD Card and format it into Fat32
2- Make a folder called "game" and place the roms on it
Come on man, do you not have a couch to test a couchcade on?
👍👍😘😘
Hell the sale price is a bit high for the games you get, the total and quality
I bought the Ms Pac Man tabletop new for $99 clearance, so it is possible. .
🎉
Glorious, ETA! 👍
Let's get this channel to 10M subs!!!!!!!!!!!
Couchcade looks fun.
Kindest regards.
When did this come out? Can anyone tell me
No Miss Pac-Man are you kidding me?
Basically, blocking the ability to add games, they doomed their selling to abysmal.
When will these types of companies learn that the ability to hack this stuff actually sells more systems. I've bought many things that I never would have because it's hackable.
The issue is the companies they work with actively want them to prevent them from being hacked. Do you think Netflix cares about io
Ip spoofing? It's the people who own the content behind the blocks
They all have to aquire license. That's why all those cabinets got 4 or 5 games on it. Also they can't tell you how to add more games either so there will never be any instruction guide included with the cabinet to obtain more roms. They'll get in trouble for that. Just like the corner store can sell you a weed pipe but can't sell you the weed. Figure it out yourself. Put roms in roms folder, it's that simple, but they can't tell you that.
It's nice to see, but even at 50 I couldn't do it. I'm just not a big enough fan of the included titles
My mom would like this but online it cost Tomuch
I received one of these as a gift a couple weeks ago. And the controller input lag is really bad. Nothing like what is shown in this video. What gives?
"I was never a fan of #2. I was always loved #1" - The immortal ETA Prime
I might remember It wrong but It could be that you can run batocera on this 🤔
Nope I just double checked and was getting confused with the capcom home arcade and the unico fun r1
them blocking being able to add games is how you get me to NOT buy one. their products (arcade1up) over priced, so if i can't hack it some, i do not want it.
It’s nice for price of it think they add more games not stop at ten what about mortal komabt street fighter pong
If you already know all the knowledge of how it works. Then there's no need to buy. Arcade games run on anything.
The graphical bezels they chose to use is horrible. Like random stickers people use to slap on their homemade MAME cabinets as a placeholder for artwork. I guess a recreation of the original bezel artwork wasn't an option for whatever reason?
But it's insane to think that they're asking $150 for this. While I appreciate the licensing cost, you can do a lot better for that asking price.
They should've used vector images.
😁😁😁👍👍👍
Buttons are on wrong side of the joystick. I use my right hand on stick.
having such few buttons means this thing is worthless even if you hack it
Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man should only be played with the speed hack.
Nobody gets bord over eta house.
So any games Arcade1 puts in, they are licensed. There isn’t a reason they will stop working?
Didn’t knew they games are still license even if companies aren’t in business
I can see slightly input delay
Damn, Arcade 1up is really milking these license games.
Why there isn't a SF2 or MK version of this I don't know... sad.
Any idea what gate the stick has? I find that the most important detail when playing games like Pacman with its lateral movements. IF the gate is optimized for Pacman style games (square gate) it probably wouldn't be worth it to use it on many later games with a circular or octagonal gate. It may be a good idea that is IS limited to certain games - depending on the gate But honestly, the fact that it uses replaceable batteries is quite silly.
It would be the best if you could use rechargeable AA batteries and it could be charged via the usb port. Something like this would likely use a cheap rechargeable battery and won't hold a charge in a couple of years. If it used rechargeable AAs you could simply swap them out for fresh ones
I prefer the replaceable batteries. Makes a difference having something that'll last a little longer than the typical cheap lithium pouch batt crap you get.
At least with this it won't die a year in and be unusable for anyone who doesn't know their way around a soldering iron. Cheap rechargeable AA or AAA batts are plentiful.
looks like it's thier mini consoles without the USB ports. See I got the Pac Man one for $10 at Office Depot. Linked an unused Dual Stock 4 to it, then I hacked it, and now I love it. I don't remember how I hacked it. I think it was just putting an SD into my MAC, formatting to Fat 32, then putting unziped NES roms on the SD card in a folder call GAME in all caps.
making it harder to load your own games makes this less desirable
Jakks / Namco Arcade Classics Plug and Play TV Games is the same thing... smh
Now they’re on eBay for hundreds of dollars
Yup probably cause as soon as something like this gets reviewed and such everyone is gonna scalp them and resell them.
Yo lemme get it
An odd unit. The bezel is horribly designed - a distraction, not an augmentation. And the controls layout looks like an ergonomic nightmare for a lap-based unit. The stick should have been to the left. And as another poster noted, the UK price is… ambitious.
6:07 Galaga 88
Would’ve been nice if you said with the retail price was
Hi
Amazing
Will it run Cyberpunk 😹
Why do keep changing the thumbnail
three words: CUTE! NO, THANKS
Say it ain't so no new game upgrade.
Putting a 8-joy to play pac-man is just a joke. Not for serious people.
I don't need another piece of plastic garbage in my house.
Yeah, this is not worth it at all.
Galaga’88 >>>>> Galaga
Cool if it can be hacked
just two buttons.....
A Raspberry Pi and an X Arcade stick would destroy this toy.
I cant believe he review this crap. Micro Center has a similar item license by Atari, better built, and run by pi3.
Please give me a gadget
E-waste
Lol not modable? What's the f****** point?
dont buy it. You can still make a better arcade that works way better with less lag for less money
I'm curious if ETA even reads his comments 🤔
If he reads his comments, he'll pin this comment for all his viewers will know he actually cares about his fans! Let's see!!
He's like Santa I heard, so doesnt need to check the comments for who is naughty or nice lol he just knows.. 😉
one of the worst review ever made... You could have done a breaf test at least of ALL games...
@ETA Prime - You're making yourself part of the problem if you are using your influence to tell people that $50 is a reasonable price for the cost of the hardware for this, let alone for the hardware and the software licenses. You are telling people that this isn't worth their money, and that in turn makes people feel that they are being ripped off if they don't pirate, because you are telling them that there's no value to the software licenses, and anyone selling arcade hardware should do it at or below cost. So then nobody should do business legally, and nobody should expect to make a profit delivering a quality product that supports this business. What the hell?! And you wonder why Nintendo feel the way they do. You're personally making it happen. I thought you loved this stuff. Show some love FFS. I challenge you to do better. Make equivalent gaming hardware, deliver it to the gamers, then try to use your profits from that for another round of vintage gaming hardware 3-5 years later. Seriously.
This product is trash and nobody should buy it even for $50.
