So much Beenleigh history has been lost to development or just neglect. It's a real shame. You showed this change in a very sensitive, pensive way. Thank you, Rob
Thanks Rob. A lot of effort went into this. Sadly Beenleigh is almost unrecognisable from the past, it could been "Anytown", Australia. barely anything preserved or highlighted.
I loved there for a big chunk of my life into my 20’s. It’s a soulless town with few redeeming qualities left. Quite a lot of the smaller heritage buildings were actually moved to the Beenleigh Historical village and museum, including that little church and train station
Thanks Rob. I have been watching for a while and as I grew up in Beenleigh from 1976 to 1986 you have brought back many fond memories of my childhood. I still feel like Beenleigh is home and one thing I can tell you is the people from Beenleigh are still the honest straight shooters I fondly remember.
G'Day Rob, Thank you for taking the time to piece together a trip down memory lane. I guess progress is inevitable, however it is still disappointing to see how past administrators and planning "experts" steered the towns development. I will enjoy watching your other productions and as a new subscriber look forward to future videos. Cheers.
@@walkaboutwithrob My then and now videos haven't received as much love. But I guess it makes sense, as your channel is very history-focused, so more of your audience has an interest in it. No matter what, I'm always happy to see people that put in the work - as you do - seeing success. 🙂
@@walkaboutwithrob They are doing pretty well in terms of views, but another thing I'd love is the amount of engagement you have. But as far as Brissie-themed channels go, I think we're both doing alright. 🙂
My great grandfather lived in a house on kent street opposite the police station .was a real old house there a long time .nit sure when built .it is no longer there now though

@OLICIT yes that's right, thankfully many of the old buildings and homes have been saved.

Thanks Rob. Loving the memories of our history.
The place looked so much better in the past compared to how it looks today.
Great work, so many beautiful buildings have disappeared 😒
Thank you I really enjoy all your videos.
@Lee Ashton thanks indeed!
Awesome concept, love your work - Great channel. 🙂 Thanks Rob 👍
Some great old photos. I know progress has to happen, but I sometimes think it's not always for the better.

Have you ever covered the Southside suburbs of Macgregor and Sunnybank previously ?
Cool 👍👍👍👍
Wow, this one's done well. Congrats (admittedly a little jealous, though)!
@THE Brisbane Channel many thanks indeed, but why are you a little jealous?

@@BrisbaneChannel From what I've seen your two then & now videos are doing very well. They are certainly much better made than mine!

Great photos did you know the church still exists it’s down at the Beenligh historical village
@Jezza D yes I know it's down there. Have been in it a few times. I wish it was back in its original place.

Glad that some buildings are still standing.
Didn't see Bethesda Lutheran Church - 81 City Rd but otherwise 👍
Where I was baptised and my children as well. I was born 1966.
Hey Rob, just wondering if you lived in Beenleigh yourself
@Christopher Hoare I currently live in Beenleigh
Great research. Very poor 'progress' for qlds past
Change is good (no it’s not)
Very unrelated to it's past
