A good recap of things for the past years. Now we can just drop a link when another returning player will ask about what was happening in the game at that time. Also, I like your message at the end. The beauty of PlanetSide compared to other MMO is that you can just hop in and have a good fight regardless of how much content you "missed", and that is a damn cool.
Great recap! Planetside 2 has one of the strangest histories in gaming. It's hard to see the line between bewildering incompetence and an extremely difficult (maybe impossible) challenge of making a persistent world Battlefield-like game.
Ah the days of the "Higby Storm" good times, genuinely. I started all the way back in early 2013, getting farmed on Esamir and earning 12 kills per multi hour sessions, and yet I still had a blast. Still play off and on to this day. The Colossus Tank was such a cool addition too, had some fun literally yesterday as we slammed through dozens of enemy vehicles and multiple bases before TR sent half a dozen harassers 2-3 prowlers and a lightning to finally kill us after half an hour of domination.
Wow. Perfectly timed video. This is basically from when I stopped playing PS2. I was very invested (even participated for the guiness world records back then), started writing a huge guide, Auraxium on almost everything, but yeah combined arms was a tough one and somehow it fizzled out after several thousand hours. I don't think I do have enough free time nowadays to get back in, but man I would love to do so. Thank you so much for this video. I watched some of your stuff back in the day and I am glad this was recommended to me. See you Planetside (well, not really, Europe here, formerly Lithcorp server iirc before the merge).
Thank you for this video! Like you said in the beginning, I'm one of those players who gets the odd itch, and I was just thinking to come back. This was fantastic!
As a current player, I was caught up, but also as a newer player (as in 2019), I found the history lesson prior to me coming on a fun history lesson of PS2, particularly when I hear old veterans talk about "how it used to be" or things good/bad to be brought back or tinkered with. Also shout out to the young man streaming at 10:00!
I still don't know what they were thinking with Planetside Arena. That game came out at the very end of a battle royal kick. That alone should have been a red flag for the developers. They just though "money printer" and went full speed ahead with it. Game came and went like a fart in the wind.
Carto (Lead Designer Planetside Arena) said, that they wanted to launch the game with other modes especially after the Apex Legends announcement. The dev team even got green light by the executives. But like after one week, the executives changed their opinion and the devs were forced to make the game Battle Royale only. He stated it in this interview, it's very interesting to get some behind the scenes information about PS:A : ruclips.net/video/hOfKTlovNcY/видео.html
I remember playing this at launch. I wanted to play VR but did TR because I was a fanboy of AJ and TB at the time. I play it on and off. My most favorite memory was before bastions and outfit resources became a thing. I joined a real active outfit for the first time like a month before. When Bastions came out I was the resource farmer for my outfit and is where I learned the most about the game. I'm back to playing it on and off, but it truelly is a unique game.
I really hope Planetside 3 is around the corner (although I doubt it) since it's been so long since the last time I played. We're talking about a year and a half or so but, when it comes to the last time I played consistently, I think it's been two and a half years...
I must of stopped playing around mid 2016. The two things irked me the most at that time were the graphical downgrade and construction. I miss the beautiful neon projectiles, explosions and other sfx. As for construction... I just don't think it fits with planetside, level design is very important to help create fun and interesting fights and player made bases are not designed with either of those things in mind. Anyway I'm up to speed now. Thanks CC.
Used to play it regularly, now I usually play it to the point of a cheater ruins it (getting killed in spawn rooms, shot through terrain, aimbot, flying max, etc), rage uninstall and then reinstall again in about a year later, and repeat the cycle.
i missed those thermal sights so bad, everytime they dropped an update since they removed it from my moskito i leave a shitpost about it so they dont forget the hatred they created for themself. this is litterly the first video about planetside2 wich i think was usefull. the briggs server is gone you say? hmm...
Another awesome video Curious! You're right. You don't need to figure out the entrance to hop back in, you start off competitive, so come on planetside and bring your friends! Now can I get home from work to play fortification 😂
This is a really weirdly accurate question for me. I just came back like two months ago after about 8 years. Been really fun getting into the game far more than I ever did (I was hoping ps2 was originally gonna be more like PS1 and just got bored) Been a lot of fun, I've since fallen in love with the bishop scout rifle and masthead. Working towards br100 so I can run a masthead or bishop + shotty on my engineer. Shame that I came back to the game just as it's kinda dying according to everyone. Still, HermanMiller kills me like 50 times a day while still being a super nice guy, which is fun.
containment sites are just way too big - i think we miss that subterranean base but not as much how the entire continent would grind to a halt half the time that base got seiged
I used to play a lot in 2016 on PS4. I was thinking of coming back but I've been reading a lot about the PS4 version being mostly dead for a long time. I also remember it being always behind when it came to updates and the game hasn't been properly ported to PS5. Playing on PC with controller is a no go. I'm not accustomed to play with keyboard and mouse, besides I'm left handed, it is horrible to play videogames with keyboard specially if you can't re-map your keys. I mostly use my PC for work, I'm not a big fan of remain sitting here to play a game after a long day of work, I rather go to my bedroom, grab a controller, sit back and enjoy some battles in PS2. So If I want to go back, not only I will have to learn how to play with Keyboard and mouse, but also I have to go through the painful process of changing all the key bindings, assuming it is even possible that is, I don't know. So, yeah PC games like these are a double pain in the ass for me.
Man, a lot has been added since i last played, i stopped playing before the last continent was added because there was a huge cheating problem with people flying with maxes and wiping fights which happened to be the time i play in, that was not fun, hope that stuff isn't happening anymore, but i miss PS2, had some of the most epic moments in my life in this game
after watching this video im so exacting to get back ps2 again since i was gone for a busy life, but unfortunately, i ran into the a issue where the launcher not working properly when i click "play", it's just showing "running" while nothing happens, and i did stuff like verified files, restart laptop, run as admin, open from the file rather Steam, i even downloaded it straight from ps2 web but nothing works out... :(
I would come back to play this game but they nerfed everything I ever loved about the game and then the absolute hostility of outfits and players I've came into contact with just made the game like sock water.
I think it's gotten worse. The fact that Cortium farming is way better than fighting is infuriating. Construction wastes everyones time. Getting new things is almost impossible because one weapon either costs 3-5 hours of work to getting certs or 8 dollars.
Have the TTK on vehicle vs vehicle gone back down since CAI? As a ambush enjoyer I can't say I liked the nerfed damage to rears it brought (and overall for that matter).
This video has dropped in almost perfect timing, i’ve been playing PS2 since 2014 on and off through the years, i’ve “quit” this game a total of 7 times but every time i can’t stay away from it.
I appreciate the positivity of this video, so many people are negative about this game & the Fortification update, it's really nice to see folks working to help keep our game alive & encourage folks to play
I just got back to it on PlayStation and am thoroughly dismayed at how bad the game has become. Large scale squad and platoon size battles kept me interested but now it's all about individuals running around and indestructible vehicles.
I used to play this game all the time and then took a break for a year or 3, anyway still have the same rig but I have a new GPU that is 3 times more powerful and yet ps 2 displays your computer does not meet the minimum required specs.....? i don't get it...? oh and by the way being a long time serving player i know all the tricks to manipulate the game via manual input to enable in-game settings...but still no, so on that i have regrettably not been able to rejoin the battle fields....damn shame !
I haven't played in a couple years. I used to play all day, every day. I'm one of the founding members of JENK. Sadly, I went to log in a couple years ago, and got a message saying my account no longer exists. I was furious. I spent countless hours grinding for gear and Daybreak never responded to my emails or support ticket.

2013 was the best.

Absolutely loved the content looking forward to more of it being brought over to console .

Never heard of Tribes 2?
Remember the people whom made PlanetSide 1. Made Tribes 1 and 2. Tribes 2 was a kick ass game.

Would that make much of a difference? Honest question

Dude in my ps2 no matter what I do it has faction specific colors
It’s a bug right now try the option below it I think it’s based or structures. Change that and it will go to what you’re used to.
