    You're a very interesting guy. Heatpumps seem like such a nobrainer (esp in my climate, where most winters day are around 12c) that it's strange that youtube doesn't have MORE of these videos.

    Just wanted to say thanks for the vids again. I got my little setup going with a plate heat exchanger and a 10K btu window unit I got cheap since I can’t invest in the mini split at the moment. Since it’s heating it puts out about 13K btu including compressor heat, so altogether I’m getting about 125% output not including losses. The ambient is about 68 so not too warm for my area. COP of 3.5 approximately, including two pumps. Warmed my hot tub 55 to 105 in two hours at a cost of about a quarter. It’s awesome.

      That cool. Did you end up getting the plate exchanger from aliexpress.com?

      @@ne7s29 hey man I ended up getting it from Amazon. 20 plate copper brazed wort chiller was the name. It’s been working really well to heat the hot tub. It was about 50$ and I use two small submersible pumps that were 22$ each.
      Eventually I’m going to get a recirculation pump to heat up my water heater tank so I don’t have to do the cutting stuff because I’m afraid I’ll mess something up. I think when I hook it up to the water heater I’ll cut the lines and pipe the refrigerant direct to the plate exchanger and get a 30 or 40 plate just to make sure there’s enough exchange of heat to fully condense like it should. And since in our applications we will not need to use the plate exchanger as an evaporator it shouldn’t risk hurting the compressor since the evaporator is still the factory one so there shouldn’t be any liquid entering the compressor.
      I also wanted to ask, have you had any issue with your outdoor unit not working when it gets above 86° outside? I have been looking at units to get because it’s more efficient than my window unit heat pump but most say the outdoor unit will not work in heat mode above 30°c/86°f. I think I will look for one with a higher cut off.
      I was hoping to repurpose one we have installed that we don’t like very much and was cheap, but it says it cuts heat mode off at 86° and I’ve seen it in a few other manuals so far.

    Is there any way of running the outside unit without a indoor unit?

    • @ne7s29

      You need the indoor units computer to tell the outdoor what to do

    How much power is it drawing to heat the water in these low temperatures? Also would be curious to know how much energy it take so heat the tank or just a COP at this temperature?\

    • @ne7s29
      @ne7s29  2 года назад +1

      The power draw continues to hover around 1800wayts. The COP I would guess is 30% worse

    Shouldn't you be able to generate electricity

      If you had solar and wind a lithium batteries then the cost of energy is zero. Granted solar etc costs, but it is worth it.
