🚨🚨 This is a dormant, almost silent crisis, but it kills tens or hundreds of people everyday prematurely just in Nuevo León, according to the World Health Organization. So help us push our governors and leaders towards policy making that benefit us, regardless of where we live. 🚨🚨
#MonterreyMexico, capital of the state of Nuevo León, is home to 5.5 million people, making it the second largest metropolis in the country. It is also amongst the richest and most prosperous cities in #LatinAmerica thanks to its booming industrial sector.
But this comes at a high environmental cost. Monterrey has the deadliest air to breathe in the continent, with dangerously levels of both particulate matter and greenhouse gases. This threatens the health and lives of millions of people around the world and undermines the global efforts to fight #climatechange.
In this video, I will take you on a #drone4k #aerialtour and show you its beauty and charm. But I will also
show you the contrast with the rest of Monterrey and the #environmentalcrisis that we are facing.
We need to raise awareness and demand action from our government to reduce emissions and protect our environment. We need to save our city and our planet.
We are royals, or #regios as we say in Spanish, but we are breathing royal poison. The main source of this deadly composition is the stone quarrying industry, or "pedreras" (stone harvesting) which releases heavy particles into the air that are harder to disperse than other gases. We need to stop this madness and find cleaner alternatives.
