  • The EFL Championship is all-but finished with just the play offs to go. Enzo Maresca's Leicester ran out champions, whilst Kieran Mckenna's Ipswich got back-to-back promotions and will play in the Premier League in 2024/2025.
Join me in discussion where I sumarise how each Championship side has played in the 2023/24 season, where promotion, play offs and relegation battles were hectic.

2:10 - That very well known League 1/2 team of... (Glasgow) Rangers.
Cameron Burgess (signed from Accrington) might have been a better example.

Sky TV ruined football the money involved got the business men interested instead of teams playing football on Saturday afternoon it all became about money and ultimately the team with the most money wins everything instead of teams winning trophies on merit and players playing for pride and not money

We did ok till Stoke being Stoke took SS, Getting Foster in was a mishap from the board in his first role in such an intense league may of been a step too far, I'm kind of unsure what to expect from my club this season some decent names for a new manager being drafted about i think we maybe an unknown quantity due to the fact the board are fast learners and we have no idea how much is invested who we get in who we sell on and how much will be spent, It's going to be quite the summer! No matter who we appoint the pure focus yet again will be the 51 points target. It was nice to see Whittaker in the team of the season. Being a Plymouth fan is never dull!

Yep I’ve enjoyed watching the rise of you guys, with RL and SS in charge you’ve done some great stuff.
I think if Whittaker goes it will be very tough next season for you, whoever is in charge.

@@wobytestwood3099 Fully get your point! All depends on who we sign and if the board pocket the cash or put it in external factors like the foundations however i cannot see Simon and the board doing that with players transfer fees and will more likely be reinvested into the team. If we can continue to find hidden gemz boost the career and make a profit that's great! However one thing that was clear from the season just gone is that we will need to invest on some good experienced championship players and they don't come cheap. Maybe if he leaves which i hope not we could perhaps find one or two and perhaps the odd gem. Nice talking to you and will look forward to more of your uploads. Shame how your season turned out but i'm sure you have more to cheer next season.

    Everybody needs to calm down.
It’s not very often you get 2, let alone 3 established big clubs get relegated from the PL.
Leicester had a top 8 PL budget which Brendan Rodgers completely ruined from 21 onwards. 5 major trophies this millennium and 5 forays into Europe, big club.
Southampton are certainly too big for the championship and obviously the same goes to Leeds.
Then you look at the 3 that were promoted last season, all still very championship in terms of talent.
This won’t happen again for a while.

They’re not too “big” for the championship if they can’t get out of it are they?

@@James-yy4vl I’m simply explaining why there’s such difference in budgets and quality between the relegated sides and the rest of the division. It doesn’t normally happen where you get 3 sides come down who should not have been relegated

Point taken , but other than Ipswich every side in the top 7 has had recent prem football. Teams like Rotherham, Preston and Plymouth won’t get top 6 because other sides have more resources. Fast becoming a money league.

@@wobytestwood3099 it’s all filtering down. Leicesters second year parachute payments that were due if they weren’t promoted are now divided among the remaining championship clubs.
Same to Southampton or Leeds’s money if they are promoted.
