OK, so what makes them different like? Are they wire different inside or the inside?Guts are different because I have 2 pots but the one I need is linear.I need to switch it to log ... Can I rewire something or can I take the guts out of the log and put it in the linear one???
I never had one of those,, suppose it has an S-curve so it would be more (or less) sensitive in the start and end of the control. Must be when increased sensitivity is needed at the ends or the middle.
@@GMODISMjust received clarostat pots described as S taper. (*I still ordered but wanted linear.) My testing with help from your video shows linear type curve 👍. Not sure why seller described pot as S curve other than pot stamping shows 380C1 5000(ohm sign) S I am glad it performs more like linear. I am aware that B stands for linear(A for audio) There is an Ohmite 5k pot on eBay stamped as TYPE A/B huh? (Described by seller as linear) 🤦🏼♂️
@@WhoOwl-o4f yes, linear pots are great for controlling a voltage regulator chip to adjust light levels, just connecting a pot directly to control a light will probably burn ut unless its a tiny led
Wow thanks for this. I didn't know potentiometers even had linear vs logarithmic versions. Thanks!
Glad it's helpful! They are quite different so good to know so that control is smooth on your circuits ;)

What is S taper potentiometer and where can it be applicable?

Haha strange, well good you could use this to figure it out as a linear one ;)
Will I mess up my speakers if I change the pot from linear to a logerithmic pot?
linear pots are generally not used at all in audio equipment...
@ can I add one to a light?

@@GMODISM thanks for your input
Why would one want the logorithmic? With hardly any change until end of sweep?
because the perceived loudness is logarithmic, also that sounds a bit like you need to swap the end to the other side
how do i know if my potentiometer is linear or logarithmic
it has six pins and is inside the logitech z506 speaker
You need to test it by the tips of this video
