All this^ just keep at it. It's so much fun with a good squad. And if you know what you're doing, and you get a bad/ non communicative squad, you can kind of do your do your own thing. Recon style. Become fireteam lead, and you can call out threats on the map and help anti tank or artillery, and have fun. 🤘👍
the best time you’ll ever have in this game is playing under a good squad leader. even in the games you lose, good squad play makes the overall experience top notch
After reading the comments I'm going to purchase this game. I've been on the fence but after seeing the support from players giving advice on how to play. As opposed to flaming a new player for not knowing. Thanks for this video it helped me with my decision.
It's one of those games where you won't understand whats going on for like 2 weeks to a month. Then boom you get it. Its like working at a new job you'll understand it after awhile and don't feel bad asking people for help. Being a squad lead helped me understand the game more. Its like if chess had a first person shooter.
I'm only 20 mins into your video, but I can already say you are doing good. Squad is a steep learning curve. You have the right attitude, not obsessing over K/D ratio, and communicating with the team well. You play medic well already, bandaging and healing whenever you can, it's the best beginner role to make a positive impact for your team. It's much easier to get 10 revives, than 10 kills. Some tips from a medic main: Check map regularly (rebind to mouse thumb button), look for friendlies that need reviving, just keep in mind that there will be enemies in that area, so scope it out before rushing to heal. Medic gets 4 smoke grenades. Smokes can be effective cover when someone needs reviving in the open, or when attacking a point. DONT use smokes when you are defending a point and the enemy are pushing on you. Sometimes you need to drag a downed team mate to cover, sometimes it's better to lie down still and revive where they are, you'll get a feel for it. Try to prioritise downed medics, they can go off and heal other downed team mates, and if you get killed quickly they can revive easier. Of the two medic roles, I prefer the top one without the scope as it also has binoculars and grenades, you do have shorter effective range, but in urban maps that's ok and you end up focusing on healing more than fighting.
For that round 2 downs and 1 kill is good, but more importantly you got 6 revives! That's 6 tickets you saved your team, plus you kept your guys in the fight more instead of respawning back at FOB. Squad can be frustrating and can feel like you aren't doing well, but as long as you get that victory screen you know it was all worth it for the team win.
You learn the different symbols ny your teamates names (in your squad) and uniforms. I will say I agree with what the guys said. I didn’t get a single kill until my third hour, just dying from everywhere. Experience really helps, and if you find a match with a nice squad leader, you will learn so much and it will be exciting. Squad has a great community.
@@TheBlackSnake88 When looking at downed team mates, medics will have a medic cross icon by their name. You can also see on the map that downed team mates have a red life support zigzag, while downed medics have a red cross icon (bleeding team mates have a blood drop icon). I think there is also a setting where you can change the map's player icons between arrows (showing which way they are facing) or what role they are.
6,473 hour and almost 9 years playing. Ask people questions if you don't know what's going on, stay with your squad and you'll be fine. Playing as a rifle man and following around the medic or Anti-tank roles and providing ammo is extremely valuable. In audio settings you can turn off the radio "filter" and the squad beeps which can clear up communications a ton. When you get shot at give a bearing and and best estimate of distance, if you say it in local chat you use a number I.E- 167, 200 meters, moving left to right on the ridge line. If you say it in squad try to say cardinal directions, or call in a grid zone. This game has a steep learning curve, ask questions in squad chat, type questions in team chat, just ask questions everyone wants to help you in this game!
You did great by checking your map frequently and communicating with your team. Kits without medium zoom optics will have binoculars, they are very slept on tool. Best advice I can give you as a new player is follow your squad and take your time firing shots. Medic is a great kit for beginners, but I even play it a lot for the heals on myself. Marksman kit is usually a waste so avoid it or use it as more recon than direct combat. Oh and familiarize yourself with the sounds of your team's weapons vs the enemies as well as uniforms. Lots of vocabulary to learn too, just ask any of your teammates for help and we got you.
for the most part the squad community is very friendly and helpful, so my advise is to let your squad know that you are new to the game when you join. most people will help you get into the game and understand the mechanics
knowing what the enemy looks like is super important. i recommend playing medic, rifleman, automatic rifleman, machine gunner or even marksman (if the SL allows it) and just trying to have fun. medic, rifleman, auto rifleman, and machine gunner typically need you to stick with your squad more. Marksman can be effective and fun by yourself, when i started i liked the marksman kit because it was simply the most fun. once you get better at the game and figure out more aspects of the game you can expand what kits you want to play. ofc do whatever is the most fun, but take it one step at a time.
This is one of my absolute favourites. Some comprehensive tips to live longer: 1- Learn how to get a natural feeling for danger, to get a feel for exposure. You idealy want to be like a cat or something like that, you know how cats always like to be tucked in tight spaces and all, always out of sight. Just look at the horizon, and see if you can see very far away, if you cant, odds are the enemy cant see you eighter and you are safe. 2- Look at your map and actively formulate plans. You should always make a rough plan of action so you can actively decide where you are going to stay or move through when attacking and deffending (remember, open ground is very bad, 90% of the times you should stick to woods, trenches, buildings or denser terrain.) 3- DONT PEEK UP IF YOU ARE CROUCHED BEHIND WAIST HIGH WALL! This is very specific and very obvious when you think about it but almost no ones pays attention to it. Because of the angles of combat, when you peek up you se 180 degree in front of you but also expose yourself to 180 degrees. If you peek to the side and stay behind cover than you expose yourself to only 90 degrees front and see only 90 too, wich is objectively safer at the cost of less situational awareness but it pays off a lot. 4- Granades, granades, granades and rockets. Use them, dont keep saving them just so you die with a full load. Dont wait for you to clearly see the enemy, just check for friendlies first, use the explosives often. 5- dont try to clear buildings using your rifle only, nade everything if possible, dont try to enter rooms like swat, just fight from the door and throw nades. 6- Think like the enemy players, odds are they are going to be in the most obvious places because they offer some sort of advantage to great to ignore. Have fun playing Squad!
The most important skill in Squad is being in the right spot looking at the right direction. If you master that, you will notice how easy is to kill other players, because movement in Squad is slow and fire supression makes it difficult to react to if you shoot first. My best advice is keeping your map open most of the time. Start thinking about where could be the enemy and if it's there, how could you take them by surprise, usually flanking their position or finding a good firing position. For example, If you walk with your team towards enemy positions, find a spot in the formation where you are flanked by allies and there's no friendlies in front of you. This will make it safer as you just have to scan forward. If someone shoots at you, try to hide and change position as soon as possible, don't expose yourself again in the same spot without friendly support. I would put it like this: In Squad you win with your brain, not with your hand speed.
Been playing Squad since the closed Alpha days when there were zero vehicles in the game. It was a running sim but still great. It's come so far and I highly suggest the game to anyone I know who likes shooters. It takes a while to learn the game fully but once you get the hang of it and how to find the action it's amazing.
When I started, I watched a video that recommended going onto seeding servers to work on my gun fighting. (“Seed” is a game mode that means a server is trying to populate, so usual game mode rules don’t apply and you can play as any role you want without being in a squad, until the server is populated) It’s a lot more accessible now because of bots but it is a very different experience than before bots. The combat in this game is very different from other FPS’s. Don’t feel let down if you die a lot when you start or take a long break. Starting as medic is what I did too and still do. Sound is incredibly important in this game and learning the gun sounds and uniforms made me much more useful. I always take a second before a match starts to confirm what the enemy/friendly looks like. Still need to work on my vehicle identification but usually if you hear a vehicle, pull up your map and see if a friendly is nearby, most of the time it works sometimes it doesn’t in a highly concentrated combat area. I also know I had to tweak my settings a ton to get a clear view through the scopes. There’s a bunch of guides to help with that as well. The fun in this game is the teamwork and the community is really forgiving typically. Hope you continue to play, see you out there
also, if you're just joining join servers that run invasion 24 seven so you get the gist of it aas and raas can get confusing and running all over the map. Try to keep it simple the radio creates the blue circle. Try to get the hab close to the objective.
My friend, I have almost 1000 hours in SQUAD and I can say with confidence, I'm still learning... but what I've definitely learned so far, map knowledge and situation awareness are keys to move and survive. Once you can identify the sound of all weapons and get a good situation awareness of the map around you, you'll find easier to see enemies and make decisions. For what I saw in your gameplay, you're in the right path! 👍
Scan from right to left. It helps because most written language go from left to right, so you tend to glaze past stuff the the same way you miss the double “the” when reading
Got a few tips from someone who has too many hours in the game. No matter what role you pick, play your role to the tee. Stick with your squad, communicate with each other even if they don't, sometimes it takes one person talking to get everyone talking. Make use of cardinal directions, use your compass for alerting your team of contacts. Doesn't help if people are yelling "OVER THERE OVER THERE" cause not everyone will be at your current position, give compas bearings please. Doesn't matter if you get kills or not, do your best to support the team. If that means doing all the boring stuff, logi runs, building fortifications, walking instead of using a Victor, play to your strengths. If you get thrown into being an SL, just try it. Coming from a guy who hates SLing but takes it up cause I've been thrown into it early on when I got the game, a good SL can turn the tide of an entire match, one good flank, one sneaky HAB placement, hard sending a point, you'd be surprised with the amount of satisfaction you get from doing so good. Learn some military short hand, may be weird but you are playing a milsim, it adds to the immersion and sucks you in. But overall have fun, the most fun I've had gaming was in Squad. It's like your chilling with the bois, there will be people blasting music to hype you up, being in such bad situations but cracking jokes whilst getting blown up. You'll have so much fun with the right people, even then I've had fun with tons of blueberries. Fair winds and following seas.
As a player with 2k hours. I really enjoyed watching you learn. Keep it up, its tough to get into and some games can be bad. But when you getthe hang of it, a good game can be some of the most exciting thinks. Subscribed!
I've played this game off and on for years now, always nice to see fresh meat for the grinder as they say. Thanks for sharing your experience. If you ever try your hand at squad leading, remember that defeat is a state of mind, never underestimate your enemy, but always try your best to exploit their weaknesses. And remember to have fun 😁 squad lead said so.
One of the best games imo. You get a more realistic sense of being in real combat compared to other war games. Slower pace, no hit markers or kill confimations. The suppression mechanic is great. Some tips I think would help new players: A decent SL and cooperative squadmates is key. Comms but dont spam radio "B key" with BS, use local chat "V key" for that. Shoot more when you get contact. Just figure out where you're getting shot from and yell the bearing so everyone can start shooting back asap.
Good video and gameplay. Stick around and keep practicing, there's always more to learn so don't get discouraged by the volume of info. Tips: Use the 5 key for medical supplies instead of wasting time scrolling for them. Take more time between your shots for best accuracy. Look for squad leads that communicate often, avoid the quiet ones.
Squad is a very difficult game to get into, especially if you're new to the "mil-sim" genre. But if you take the time to learn it and find a squad or group of people that you have good synergy with, this game has so much potential and so much fun to be had.
@@NotMyOriginalHandle mos definitely! I would also say coming from arcade like shooter you must break a lot of bad habits! Running into the middle of the road is one for me 😅
one of the best shooter games if you get the hang of it, tips: you see more when your stationairy use the minimap as much as possible so you know when you encounter someone that its a friendly or enemy make use of coms , keep squad comms clean, do the fun stuff most of the times in blue comss. ask your teammates if you dont know what to do. start with medic role, is the easiest to pickup and to learn the learning curve and your teammates will be happy you heal them
Nice vid welcome to the community. Good luck I’m 500 plus hours and it’s still difficult lol. Most importantly communicate I’ve seen squad games fall apart when nobody talks
One thing is for sure, nothing out there really matches the intensity of Squad fire fights...Maybe Hell let loose? But after I got squad myself and put over 900+ hours into it I just cannot go back to the run & gun COD shooter style games. They feel really silly when you try and play them after playing squad for so long. Keep at it man! I hope you enjoy the game for what it is! Every faction is unique and they all have different weapons/vehicles. 8.2 is also one of the best times to be playing since they have reworked some of the Infantry combat.
Number one thing to remember when you are playing squad is that you need to just slow down and be more methodical about your decisions and movement because of the gun play. I've well over 2k hours in squad since its inception and it is no doubt the best shooter of its kind on the market. Slowing down and being methodical about your tactics and decisions is exactly how we do it in the real military. Squad is the best game that gives the player the closest simulation to combat you could ask for in a video game really, the gun play can be frustrating to say the least, but once you understand you just need to slow down and be more static and scanning for targets verse constantly running and gunning. The Devs have even specifically stated they keep the stamina system and gun play the way it is to reduce players going rogue and forcing them to work together. Superior accurate fire by volume is the key to victory in squad just as it is in a real firefight, not all tactics translate to a video game, but that one sure as hell always does. Now when you are playing Insurgents OPFOR I mean by definition you should go rogue from time to time to set up the killer VBIED hits lol. In urban environments this changes a bit, I tend to be much more aggressive on urban maps especially if I squad lead. I prefer to constantly be moving from building to building instead of being static because being in an urban environment I have way to many avenues of approach for being enveloped from ground level or even up high. Don't run across linear danger areas i.e roads unless you have cover or you have full stamina to sprint. Another thing is to never drain your stamina all the way down. Always try to keep your stamina at or close to half at all times, this will help with aiming and being able to make evasive sprints to cover if need be. I notice a lot of players will drain their stamina down, get in a firefight and wonder why they can't hit the broad side of a barn. It also takes longer to rebuild stamina from full depletion to max than it does while you still actively have stamina unless they have patched this unbeknownst to me. Keep at it, Squad is a game that takes time to master but I can guarantee you that you will enjoy every minute of it man. Honestly one of my favorite aspects of Squad is the fact the Fog of war is real in game since it can be so difficult to distinguish friend from foe this adds a nice aspect of self reliance by putting you on edge as I noticed in your video you experienced a few times almost shooting friendlies lol. Friendly fire is all too real in Squad but honestly I find I don't really get team killed a whole lot, most usually come from friendly Artillery if anything. Also if you are actively streaming, I would recommend getting in contact with SquadOPs and seeing if you can join in on one of their "Operations" they run as a community every so often, you will have a blast and I can guarantee you can get some good content too.
didn't get to finish, vid. but I loved seeing your progression and de-COD-ing. I'm speaking as a Project Reality veteran, haven't played squad yet, many see it as its predecessor . And as a new player you realized the importance of communication!!!
Welcome to Squad, I just restarted playing it after a year or so off. If you want something with the same sort of vibe and intensity, look into Six Days in Fallujah. Almost like Squad but it concentrates on urban combat and room/ house clearing.
If you genuinely want to learn, join Experienced Preferred lobbies and join a Squad that has the “MIC” in the name which is a term we use to specify a Squad that wants full communication. This game does not encourage solo gameplay. It can work only when you have put in the hours ie knowing the maps, the faction you’re playing, and understanding SOUNDS! The sounds in this game are well made (to an extent) and will help you stay aware of what’s ahead of you. If there’s no action within your vicinity, do not hesitate to try and position yourself inbetween yourself and a POI (Point of Interest) such as a friendly HAB or Objective. You’ll learn as time goes on that being defensive is the way to go, slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Situational awareness is key. Don’t be afraid to stop, look, and listen. Make sure to work with your teammates to maintain a 360 degree field of awareness
don't worry friend. It is frustrating at first but when you pass 100 hours you'll get good for me the most important thing is the map and differentiate between sounds. When you hear the sound of walking, and you check your map you'll know if he was an enemy or a teammate. That helps you not to hesitate to shoot him. Also learning the different sounds of weapons like from aks and m4s or g3s. keep these two in mind! Map and sounds! it will get easier. my games are 90% me opening the map and looking for a second
one small thing is looking at your map, the keybind is M but i changed mine to C cause i look at my map every like 30 seconds just to double check where friendlies are. also keep your fov at 90, it will help you see
the golden rule, it also applies to squad, however this is to keep your stamina the perfect golden color, it will help your combat very much stamina management is very important
I bought Squad a couple years ago but it never ran great on my pc and i couldnt get into it, but over the past month ive put like 60 or so hours on it and been having a blast. If you come from other milsim games the transition is pretty smooth but it takes at least 5-10 hours to just understand the dynamics of the game modes and different roles.A good squad makes all the world of difference in how much fun it is as well
It takes time to learn the game but it is definitely worth it. It's a great transition from the more fast paced arcade styled games like COD and Battlefield vs the other milsim games out there. A lot of the other milsim games are even more complicated, more mechanics, controls etc. Squad is a good middle ground between the 2. It takes a while to get your bearings with this game especially if it's your first in the milsim side of things but once you start to get the hang of it, it's so addicting. Watching your gunfights, you need to wait a little more before shooting, let the gun settle before shooting more and spread out your shots/slow down how fast you're shooting to make follow up shots more accurate. Also check your settings: Settings >Controls>Infantry>Steady Aim While ADS (mine is shift can't remember if that's default or not) it's how you steady/hold your breath to shoot in this game. Removes most weapon sway and makes shots more accurate. You seemed to pick up the map/compass thing throughout the gameplay and that is 100% vital, identifying targets/location, stick with your squad and comms are the most important. Potato Fields is usually a good server to go to for learning, if I play it's the server I'm on, if you get in a squad with some of the veteran/regular players you can usually get people to help you, it's really just luck/RNG if some of those types of guys are on during the time you're playing or not but most people regardless if regulars or not are usually pretty nice and helpful. There are other servers out there that are good, once you find one you think you like you can favorite it so it's easier to find it again. RAAS is the most popular, think of it like a game of tug of war, once all the points have been captured by both sides the 2 closest opposing points are the 2 points the teams will be fighting over. The points are randomized for each map/layer. AAS is like RAAS but the points won't be random. I believe you see the points when the game starts too? Could be wrong, I only play RAAS and Invasion. Invasion is one team is trying to attack one point on the map at a time and defense has a set amount of points to defend. I know it's a really long comment but hope it helps, hope you play more and enjoy it because it's a very fun game!
a tip: learn the different uniforms of each faction as that can help you differentiate enemies. some factions have similar camo so learning helmet and weapon audio is also helpful when they face off each other
Once you get how the game works with the radios, fob's, attacking and defending points you will love the game, till that happens you may get a little frustrated sometimes. Just don't forget to check the map all the time for enemy infantry and vehicles marks, once you spawn at hab, dont forget to rearm (get ammo, granades, bandages...). Slow pace on advance . This is a different kind of game. For these close combat maps I prefer to go with 1x optics or iron sights.
Your map is gonna be your most vital asset. Along with clean and clear communication. Follow squad lead and make sure your scanning your sectors. You need to study uniforms that is key
Start by playing medic, help the team by reviving and healing. Then as you get more familiar with the dynamics of Squad move onto rifleman, then as you feel more comfortable some of the other roles.
21;41 killed, dw brother i have over 1,500 hours played in squad and still run into the same problems from time to time. Keep the videos coming. I'd suggest looking into modded squad as well, Galactic Contention is really good same with Global Escalation and Super Mod.
I left cod years ago and moved to squad. I play a small fraction of what I used to before the ico update that completely changed the gunplay for the worse if you ask me.
Bro you need to get cover and stay cautious all the time. When you heal yourself especially, best advice is to lay down somewhere where you can see the area where the shots were coming from. And also in case you play medic and grab some wounded mate. Take him into cover and heal when the area is secured. Have fun playing!
Great video mate, got anew subscriber. Try to stick it out as much as you can. Once you find your feet and get into the groove, Squad is a great game but man, it sucks for new players because it is unforgiving. Edit: Also, DON'T play for kills, play the objective! If you are a medic, Keep the squad healthy, Machine gunner: Suppress the enemy, and if you got a good Squad leader, do what he says!
you did really good i could see you fighting your urge to play like its cod. the first like 50 hours kinda sucks you spend alot of time running around not knowing what is happening or where you are getting shot from. spend some time on the training range, learn how much drop you are going to have at distance with both rifles and launchers like grenade or rpg, run the shoot house to get aquainted with cqb, look at all the vehicles and try to remeber the names of them so you can identify them at distance and understand their capabilities. i also reccomend playing on servers that are seeding which is when servers are waiting for more players to join so itll put you in a much smaller map and nobody really cares what happens during seeding matches so its a good opportunity to try out different classes withought depriving the team of an important role. if you want to run some games with some more experience players ive got like 1200 hours and always like helping the new guys out, welcome to the community.
Squad is a great game. There's a learning curve, but it's mostly fair. I like Squad because it has consistantly gotten me some of the most rewarding kills and video game moments ever. Also the servers are mostly just a bunch of dorks being dorky, and it's fun. Happy hunting!
Make sure and crouch less while running out in the open. It slows you down. Also know the objective, defense or offense. This helps the whole team progress.
squad is either one of the most fun games i own, or the most boring, when you have a well coordinated squad, and good communication (even if you dont have good coordination if everyone has a mike it makes the game very fun regardless of winning or loosing)
Squad POST ICO update is for sure hard to get into for many. I have my dislikes about it, but if you stick with it, I think you'll find some good times. Keep playing the good games, man. Sent you an email as well!
ide recommend looking at beginner guides, qol keybinds, and definitley switch from toggle ads to hold and your sens looks to high for you. the games fun tho, once you learn your prolly ganna like it
also focus more on activley enganging, the more you die, the more you learn what not to do. push, smart ovc. but always run to contact. provided your using a role that requires to push. crouch to get more accurate shots, prone to get even more accurate, and the bipod on every gun is your best friend. just shooting near the enemy is enough to make them stop or at least chill. hip fire can be iffy but its accurate enough. i like using scope with binocs and picking them off from further back. or just flank and shoot. also shift is hold breath and "f" is scope magnificaton while aiming down sights
This game is as good as the players in the server and their experience....... Squad is one of those games where you play 5-10 mediocre games... but catch that 1 epic back and forth game with great teammates and contact that makes it all worth it. It's still the most intense game I've ever played with artillery and tanks and everyone shooting all around
I would recommend rebinding map to something like middle mouse button to help id friendlies quickly other than that trust me we all started squad like this watch some beginner videos this game is worth coming back to
@@TheBlackSnake88 I was going to say the same thing. On my mouse thumb buttons I have local chat and map. Regular checking of map really helps with keeping your bearings, knowing where friendlies are, and enemy markers.
Man, seems like its your first tactical shooter. Try reforger, its more chaotic and calm and same time. Tho t-shooters are hard to transition to from arcady ones. The way to describe it - play as if you will get tazed every time you die or get shot. Also, bullet comes out of the gun, not your eyes like cod. So if you see them it doesn't mean your bullet doesn't hit the cover you're behind, make sure to clear it.
you should try out Arma Reforger, it's a game ive always loved and im sure will grow on you! just a recomendation, its big on the military genre, but its cold war focused, theres mods in game that can make it modern and they are fun!
Not gonna lie i used to love this game. Then after it came out to 1.0 i was just like eh. Now days just seems like running simulation where on some maps u might never see more then 3 people 😂
Rising Storm 2 Vietnam is more enjoyable than Squad. It just went on sale for Steam Holiday and it was 90% off, making it around $2.00. I have Squad, Insurgency Sandstorm, Beyond the Wire, Hell Let Loose, Squad44. I'm telling you RO2 Vietnam is still worth playing and enjoyable and isn't as difficult as Squad. Check it out if you haven't. With the recent sale it has come back to life. Over 1500 players online a few days ago
If need be there are good videos from people like Moidawg which go over some basics, especially for terminology which can be confusing for a new player.
squad is kinda just one of those games if you know what i mean. its hard and theres not really any easy way to learn accept for playing. also dont get to hard on yourself alot of squad is just running around trying to slow down the other team alot different then the usually run and gun
two tips: peak slower corners, learn to scan for movement and skylining heads, and use your map more often
and don't loose the motivation to keep going. find yourself a group to play with and get past the frustration
Bet!! Thx boss! A group would be great!
@@TheBlackSnake88did my comment post?
@@TheBlackSnake88excellent point. Teamwork in this game is the difference between success and failure
Took me 100 hours to feel comfortable, 500 to be competent in most roles, 800 to be able to squad lead. And love every minute of it.
700 hours here and I feel just about the same. Such a good game.
I can’t wait till I feel comfortable to be Squad Leader! 😭 #Goal
the best time you’ll ever have in this game is playing under a good squad leader. even in the games you lose, good squad play makes the overall experience top notch
After reading the comments I'm going to purchase this game. I've been on the fence but after seeing the support from players giving advice on how to play. As opposed to flaming a new player for not knowing. Thanks for this video it helped me with my decision.
I'm glad to hear!! I'm loving it! Some games will be rough, but once you get a good squad working togethers you'll get a great experience!
@@McBenjiBoo how do I know what class others are in game? I haven’t figured that out yet
@@TheBlackSnake88hit the enter button. Shows map and roles within each squad
21:35 😂Been there done that lol
I was so deflated!! 🤣😭
😭 I can’t even imagine giving distance of enemies yet!!
Glad you are getting into Squad! It's a great game, don't be afraid if you feel overwhelmed for a while.
Can't lie, i was definitely overwhelmed at first!
i got u randomly on my recommended page, and damn your so chill and have a calm voice lol
@RustyBear I appreciate the compliments! 🫡
Best game. Threads the needle of exactly what you outlined in the beginning. Realism but still fun gun play.
@@wpsarkansan9124 i have almost 1k hours 😄
@@wpsarkansan9124 I definitely agree with you
You did great by checking your map frequently and communicating with your team.
Yo learning the uniforms is so important! Playing all the arcade shooters it was never necessary! Gotta develop that skill now 😭
for the most part the squad community is very friendly and helpful, so my advise is to let your squad know that you are new to the game when you join. most people will help you get into the game and understand the mechanics
knowing what the enemy looks like is super important. i recommend playing medic, rifleman, automatic rifleman, machine gunner or even marksman (if the SL allows it) and just trying to have fun. medic, rifleman, auto rifleman, and machine gunner typically need you to stick with your squad more. Marksman can be effective and fun by yourself, when i started i liked the marksman kit because it was simply the most fun. once you get better at the game and figure out more aspects of the game you can expand what kits you want to play. ofc do whatever is the most fun, but take it one step at a time.
I wanna try Machine Gunner, but I've been nervus!
This is one of my absolute favourites. Some comprehensive tips to live longer:
1- Learn how to get a natural feeling for danger, to get a feel for exposure.
You should always make a rough plan of action so you can actively decide where you are going to stay or move through when attacking and deffending (remember, open ground is very bad, 90% of the times you should stick to woods, trenches, buildings or denser terrain.)
3- DONT PEEK UP IF YOU ARE CROUCHED BEHIND WAIST HIGH WALL!
Number 4 I always forget I have grenades! You’re absolutely right! Thx for the tips
Hope you continue to play, see you out there
Also using the map frequently (key bound by default to M) is critical, not using it is like playing blind in my experience lol
also, if you're just joining join servers that run invasion 24 seven so you get the gist of it aas and raas can get confusing and running all over the map. Try to keep it simple the radio creates the blue circle. Try to get the hab close to the objective.
YES! SEED A LOT AS A NEW PLAYER. if you find a server that you can play on often you will recognize people and they’ll help you out and stuff.
welcome to squad! use your map and communicate alot, this games is so much fun it just takes a lot to figure it out
Scan from right to left. It helps because most written language go from left to right, so you tend to glaze past stuff the the same way you miss the double “the” when reading
Thats a great way to look at it!
Subscribed!
Thank you!! I appreciate the support!!
you doing a good job. At first it will be difficult but later on it will be much easier. Nice Content
Thanks a lot!
I can’t wait till I’m confident enough to lead!!
Squad is one of my personal favorite games. Nice to see new creators playing it
One of the best games imo.
I do love the local chat feature! Helps me a lot!
Good video and gameplay. Stick around and keep practicing, there's always more to learn so don't get discouraged by the volume of info.
Tips:
Use the 5 key for medical supplies instead of wasting time scrolling for them.
Take more time between your shots for best accuracy.
Look for squad leads that communicate often, avoid the quiet ones.
Thanks yo! I keep forgetting about these key binds!
Running into the middle of the road is one for me 😅
A good squad leader can make the game soo much fun
KEYBINDS: Take a moment to keybind your essentials; bandages, smokes/grenades, util, etc. Itll make it a smoother transition than scrolling.
@@Omen_XIII I definitely need to do this! Scrolling is tuff
one of the best shooter games if you get the hang of it,
tips:
you see more when your stationairy
use the minimap as much as possible so you know when you encounter someone that its a friendly or enemy
make use of coms , keep squad comms clean, do the fun stuff most of the times in blue comss.
ask your teammates if you dont know what to do.
start with medic role, is the easiest to pickup and to learn the learning curve and your teammates will be happy you heal them
Nice vid welcome to the community. Good luck I’m 500 plus hours and it’s still difficult lol. Most importantly communicate I’ve seen squad games fall apart when nobody talks
Yes!! I had my first game like that, it broke my heart’ 😭
I’ve been struggling too. Now I am afraid to shoot because I knocked a bunch of friendlys. Then I’m rushing to revive them and apologize lol
I haven't touched COD since I played this!!
Thank you boss! I definitely enjoy the slower pace! It’s been so enjoyable!! I’m going to look into squadOP as well
didn't get to finish, vid. but I loved seeing your progression and de-COD-ing. I'm speaking as a Project Reality veteran, haven't played squad yet, many see it as its predecessor . And as a new player you realized the importance of communication!!!
Man! I love the fact that they make communication important! It brings so much life to the experience!
Welcome to Squad, I just restarted playing it after a year or so off. If you want something with the same sort of vibe and intensity, look into Six Days in Fallujah. Almost like Squad but it concentrates on urban combat and room/ house clearing.
That game is actually on my radar! I may play that real soon hopefully!
It is frustrating at first but when you pass 100 hours you'll get good
for me the most important thing is the map and differentiate between sounds.
I swear the sound stuff is a different level! Imma try n get there
one small thing is looking at your map, the keybind is M but i changed mine to C cause i look at my map every like 30 seconds just to double check where friendlies are. also keep your fov at 90, it will help you see
the golden rule, it also applies to squad, however this is to keep your stamina the perfect golden color, it will help your combat very much stamina management is very important
I have been struggling with this for sure!
One thing that has got me a lot of kills is patience. Also spend a lot more time looking rather than running.
I gotta learn how to sit more believe it or not
Squad is easily one of the best tactical shooters you can buy.
It's been a breath of fresh air!
welcome to squad my friend
🫡
youll learn to love it bro, join good squad leads and listen to em
I bought Squad a couple years ago but it never ran great on my pc and i couldnt get into it, but over the past month ive put like 60 or so hours on it and been having a blast. If you come from other milsim games the transition is pretty smooth but it takes at least 5-10 hours to just understand the dynamics of the game modes and different roles.A good squad makes all the world of difference in how much fun it is as well
I definitely get that! Glad you’re getting into it now!
Good job on playing medic, when you’re new! That and rifle man are solid picks for the start
Can’t lie, helping others is soooo rewarding coming from COD!
Naw boss thank you! Games like this require long comments! I appreciate it!
a tip: learn the different uniforms of each faction as that can help you differentiate enemies. some factions have similar camo so learning helmet and weapon audio is also helpful when they face off each other
Once you get how the game works with the radios, fob's, attacking and defending points you will love the game, till that happens you may get a little frustrated sometimes.
Rearming is definitely something I’m not use too at all!
Your map is gonna be your most vital asset. Along with clean and clear communication. Follow squad lead and make sure your scanning your sectors. You need to study uniforms that is key
best milsim ever. thanks sir for playing this game.
No problem!
Start by playing medic, help the team by reviving and healing. Then as you get more familiar with the dynamics of Squad move onto rifleman, then as you feel more comfortable some of the other roles.
Heck yeah! I can heal all day! 🤣 but I’m excited to try other roles soon!
As someone whos been playing since 2015 I can say you are doing great for your first time playing just stick with it.
Appreciate it, I’m hooked!
boy have u found the right one. welcome. next step is arma reforger
21;41 killed, dw brother i have over 1,500 hours played in squad and still run into the same problems from time to time. Keep the videos coming. I'd suggest looking into modded squad as well, Galactic Contention is really good same with Global Escalation and Super Mod.
Thx yo! I’ve been nervous to mess with modded stuff, never done it before
I left cod years ago and moved to squad. I play a small fraction of what I used to before the ico update that completely changed the gunplay for the worse if you ask me.
Damn, sorry yo! I heard they keep changing things
I love Squad, been playing since Pre release. Then there is Squad 44 or Hell let lose for a ww2 setting
Bro you need to get cover and stay cautious all the time. When you heal yourself especially, best advice is to lay down somewhere where you can see the area where the shots were coming from. And also in case you play medic and grab some wounded mate. Take him into cover and heal when the area is secured. Have fun playing!
Thank you boss! I will definitely keep having fun playing!
Thanks for the sub! Yeah, I'm definitely going to keep at it.
Nice vid mate good luck
Thanks boss!
Remember to be cautious of your stamina so that your weapon will be stabilized.
Theres no better feeling then laying down fire with a mg GET SOMEEEEE!!!!!
Facts!! 🫡
best advice stay wit ur squad till u get better.
Squad takes time to learn play every day and you will get better
Thanks boss!
Use your smoke grenades to Cover while you heal people
I gotta remember that for sure next time!
you did really good i could see you fighting your urge to play like its cod. the first like 50 hours kinda sucks you spend alot of time running around not knowing what is happening or where you are getting shot from. spend some time on the training range, learn how much drop you are going to have at distance with both rifles and launchers like grenade or rpg, run the shoot house to get aquainted with cqb, look at all the vehicles and try to remeber the names of them so you can identify them at distance and understand their capabilities. i also reccomend playing on servers that are seeding which is when servers are waiting for more players to join so itll put you in a much smaller map and nobody really cares what happens during seeding matches so its a good opportunity to try out different classes withought depriving the team of an important role. if you want to run some games with some more experience players ive got like 1200 hours and always like helping the new guys out, welcome to the community.
Thanks yo! I do need to check out the seeding matches, I didn't know it was a thing!
Squad is a great game. There's a learning curve, but it's mostly fair. I like Squad because it has consistantly gotten me some of the most rewarding kills and video game moments ever. Also the servers are mostly just a bunch of dorks being dorky, and it's fun. Happy hunting!
I think that’s the best way to describe it! Rewarding!
Make sure and crouch less while running out in the open. It slows you down. Also know the objective, defense or offense. This helps the whole team progress.
I got u!! Thx boss
it takes around 500hours to not be considered as a "noob" in this game, but then it could be different for everyone
I like that metric
Yea, you should play more seeding/ training servers until you can spot enemies better.
squad is either one of the most fun games i own, or the most boring, when you have a well coordinated squad, and good communication (even if you dont have good coordination if everyone has a mike it makes the game very fun regardless of winning or loosing)
lol I agree!! Games where no one talks can be sad, but when everyone is trying to talk, regardless if you win its fun!
Squad POST ICO update is for sure hard to get into for many. I have my dislikes about it, but if you stick with it, I think you'll find some good times. Keep playing the good games, man. Sent you an email as well!
Imma look for the email now!! Thx yo!
I also used to play COD but I don’t enjoy it anymore as I used to do… now the only shooting games are Hell let loose, Arma 3, Squad!
I’m right there with you! Use to love COD, but it lost that camaraderie n teamwork for me!
Game suggestion: arma reforger it’s both on console and pc it’s basically a military game you are looking for it’s hardcore but not too hardcore
one thing that can help learn the game is having a teammate your in discord to help u learn or play with a group
I still need to learn how to use discord
ide recommend looking at beginner guides, qol keybinds, and definitley switch from toggle ads to hold and your sens looks to high for you. the games fun tho, once you learn your prolly ganna like it
also focus more on activley enganging, the more you die, the more you learn what not to do. push, smart ovc. but always run to contact. provided your using a role that requires to push. crouch to get more accurate shots, prone to get even more accurate, and the bipod on every gun is your best friend. just shooting near the enemy is enough to make them stop or at least chill. hip fire can be iffy but its accurate enough. i like using scope with binocs and picking them off from further back. or just flank and shoot. also shift is hold breath and "f" is scope magnificaton while aiming down sights
I didn't know you can hold your breath! I gotta try it!
Omg yes! When your team is trying to work together and the enemy is capable changes the game entirely!
I would also look into, he’ll let loose, insurgency sandstorm, arma 3 (pretty complicated)
Arma is the only one I haven’t tried yet! Should I play it now or wait for the new one?
have 100 hours in squad, and i still have no idea what in the world i am doing.
makes fun tho
I’m 😵 lmao
I would recommend rebinding map to something like middle mouse button to help id friendlies quickly other than that trust me we all started squad like this watch some beginner videos this game is worth coming back to
Thanks man, I’ll have to check that out!
Bet! I got this on my list
Bro I’m new to lol, I’m going through the same thing you’re going through. We should play together some day
I'm down! I'm new to PC, so you gotta tell me how to find you!
Not gonna lie i used to love this game. Then after it came out to 1.0 i was just like eh. Now days just seems like running simulation where on some maps u might never see more then 3 people 😂
I definitely had those moments 😂
Rising Storm 2 Vietnam is more enjoyable than Squad. It just went on sale for Steam Holiday and it was 90% off, making it around $2.00. I have Squad, Insurgency Sandstorm, Beyond the Wire, Hell Let Loose, Squad44. I'm telling you RO2 Vietnam is still worth playing and enjoyable and isn't as difficult as Squad. Check it out if you haven't. With the recent sale it has come back to life. Over 1500 players online a few days ago
This type of game require to a lot your map and always follow ppl with experiencie like the squad leader, is great the learn from others! enjoy
Using the map definitely takes some getting use too!
One advice is: do not shoot if you dont know if its enemy. And yeah.. its difficult still for me which i have 800+ hours
I be soooo worried about shooting a teammate!
This game is so dope, got 1000's of hours.
Yo!!! I love this game, I wish I was better at it! lmao
@@TheBlackSnake88 squad knowledge comes with time. You'll be squad leading the rookies in no time!
I can recommend Insurgency Sandstorm if you enjoyed the old CoDs.
I did get to play that a while back on Ps5! I loved it!!
If need be there are good videos from people like Moidawg which go over some basics, especially for terminology which can be confusing for a new player.
yes, check out his channel. He's the guy who owns and runs the Potato Fields servers. GREAT place to learn the game.
I will check him out for sure!
i want to get squad but it seems a bit overwhelming with all the stuff to do
I was feeling the same way! It took a few matches to really understand the flow. Plus I did new player friendly servers, that helped a lot!
@@TheBlackSnake88 ok thanks
Try for the time being staying in non competitive games like new player friendly servers until you get a better grasp it’ll help with the frustrations
600 hours for me. Use the map. The map is your best friend. Get a weapon with a scope. Never be a straggler.
I tried the iron sites first time I felt useless 🤣 thx boss
@ iron sights are only good for clearing buildings in the desert maps. The forested maps go for scopes.
Can I play SQUAD in my laptop?, not a gaming laptop though.
sad to say I'm not sure, odds are no without the right specks... use ChatGPT, tell it what you have, ask will it work for squad
squad is kinda just one of those games if you know what i mean. its hard and theres not really any easy way to learn accept for playing. also dont get to hard on yourself alot of squad is just running around trying to slow down the other team alot different then the usually run and gun
I livestream squad leading. Mic is too low tho trying to fix it.
I'll check you out!!
start as a rifleman and medic to get your bearing
pls do more squad content
I got another video I’ll be uploading today!
