Undertale is an RPG style game that you have to fight to survive through a monster infested cavern, it has 3 endings Neutral, Pacifist and Genocide, it's best to play pacifist as your first game, through the game you will encounter many strange and interesting monsters as well as lovable characters like Sans (the skeleton in the video) plus there is no shortage on the amazing music the game holds, including the secrets but the biggest thing is the feels that you will have through the whole game
Undertale is a somewhat recent retro styled game made by one guy, Toby Fox. And he made all the music. It’s insane. Also, that was a delightful reaction
The Undertale soundtrack is FIRE, and the game itself is an amazing and emotional experience. Megalovania in particular takes place during the hardest part of the game, when...well, when you're looking for a 'Bad Time'.
@@GOTGames Lets just say, if you hear this music in game you've REALLY gone out of your way for it and you deserve everything that's about to go down. The memes are largely because once you've encountered this moment (through gameplay or through just watching lets plays) you will NEVER forget it~ XD
Two fun things about this song: The artist who made this also worked on Marine's "I'm Your Treasure Box" When you hear this in Undertale, your character is being punished for doing something legitimately terrible
I would like this, but I don't want to be the one to ruin the fact that it currently has 69 likes, so have a comment instead recording this amazing moment.
I think part of why Megalovania in particular is so catchy is that the composer Toby Fox has actually made this song three times, for three different projects. It first showed up in an Earthbound ROM hack that he made in 2008, as the main boss theme. It showed up again in 2011 as music for a page of the webcomic series Homestuck. Then finally in 2015, this version was released as part of Toby Fox's video game Undertale. It was changed and rearranged slightly each time, refined into this final iconic version.
Undertale OST is very complementary with each other track I recommend playing it 100% Also the community of Undertale created so much animation/fan Lyrics above the song its just ridiculous
@@GOTGames Please do. It's a really great game; came out 2015 I believe and well, from indie nothing to it's main creator Toby Fox now being THE music guy in games right now (Pokemon hired him for Scarlet and Violet to give you an idea). Story is where Undertale really shines though; would recommend playing at least two different 'endings' for the best experience possible with it
Don't forget about fan music! There are some many remixes of megalovania and adaptations for fan universes that "megalovania" is literally a genre at this point.
Megalovania is the boss theme for a very well liked character in Undertale. You only fight him if you've dedicated yourself to killing everything(the term used to refer to such a playthrough is a "genocide run"), and his role in the narrative is to do everything he can to stop you. That's why the theme is so badass.
So fun fact, Toby Fox, the creator behind Undertale and Megalovania, is a huge fan of Marine from Hololive. "I'm Your Treasure Box" was composed by an relatively unknown composer named U.Z. INU - who is largely considered to be a pseudonym of Toby Fox's. Its all connected.
Could you do undertale "hopes and dreams", "save the world" and "last goodbye" next? They all have decently similar melodies and sound alike because each one is kind of a continuation of the previous so you could do them all in 1 video or separate, I'd just really like to see your reaction to those though.
You are correct, this song is in so many memes and I’ve basically heard the whole thing just by watching memes. Undertale is fairly recent releasing in 2015 and was very popular, this game is 2d with a retro look to it. An OST I recommend is from the game Code Vein and the song is Underworld by VAMPS, this game falls under the Souls genre and has an anime art style.
Since you listened to Megalovania you should definitely listen to "Hopes and Dreams" too. Both are kinda the book end songs of their respective paths depending on how you play the game and which ending you get. But overall the whole soundtrack for Undertale is a bob and amazingly written in context with the game and layering of other parts of the ost.
People love the undertale OST because so much of the music references each other. It does such a good job at reusing themes to give context to the characters current state. Megalovania is an amazing song and it gets played with one of the hardest bossfights in the game. Unfortunately it is really hard to explain anything about the game without spoiling the experience for ya. I would suggest recording and playing all of it, then upload all of the episodes later.
"What happens in the game while this song is playing?" Glad you asked, you: -Have a bad time -Feel your sins crawling on your back -Get dunked on -Are dying repeatedly (The game held up pretty good and remained relevant for years, but that should be a given seeing how everything above does indeed happen)
Nostalgia time!!! Undertale is a game filled with amazing music. Toby Fox, the creator of the game, composed the OST for it. He is a genius that brought the cultural phenomenon Undertale to the light. I still can't believe it has been 8 years. Also, it's important to note that one of his greatest inspirations is the OST from Touhou. I highly recommend you to check out music from it!
oh my god Undertale music! 😀 I love everything related to Toby Fox... and yes, this is a meme song. the title is pronounced "megalo" as in megalomaniac, and "vania" as in Transylvania. idk why exactly. but yeah, this song has quite the history... it's absolutely steeped in internet deep lore. it was originally used in an old rom hack that Toby Fox did for Earthbound, then it was repurposed and used in the web comic Homestuck, before Toby finally used it as a boss battle theme for Undertale. so having passed through the hands of three different fanbases, it's had a lot of time to pick up steam and become a real meme juggernaut. it helps that it's just a really solid piece of music too. as for what Undertale is... it's a video game, and it can be bought on steam for relatively cheap! the game is an RPG, so like, you wander around in the overworld much like you would in a nintendo game... like pokemon fire red, or legend of zelda link to the past. you can encounter characters and talk to them, and a lot of the game is wandering around trying to accomplish little objectives, but sometimes you'll run into things in the overworld that will trigger the game's unique battle mechanic. when in battle, you get a little heart that you can move around in a box at the bottom of your screen. different encounters will toss different little bits at you that will hurt you if they hit you, but you can avoid them by dodging. and each encounter gives you options, such as fighting, interacting, or running from the encounter. in order to decide what to do, all you really need to know is that the game will remember it. and story really is the core selling point of Undertale. it has an amazing story to tell, with multiple different endings, depending on what you choose to do. and all the core characters are much beloved by everyone who's played the game... like, that skeleton there? he's just a really cool guy. very chill. he makes jokes, and everybody likes him a lot. also, I hate to be the one to do this, but say "Homestuck music" to your twitch chat sometime, I wanna see how many of a particular kind of internet weirdo (affectionate) are in there.
Now that I've seen that you've reacted to Megalovania you HAVE to react to Death by Glamour. Another song in the Undertale OST that is also pretty well known.
I highly recommend actually doing a play through of Undertale. Avoid media about it until you’ve played it, because part of the experience is playing through it the first time not knowing some of the hidden mechanics of it and the story. It’s a wonderful game with a great story.
Toby Fox made this game with a very small team, and even snuck some of the developer's personalities into the game to have their own fun with the development. It blew up with a huge fan following shortly after its release. The music, story, unique fighting mechanic, timeless characters, and nostalgic retro style made it popular enough that nearly every GameTuber in the limelight had their own playthrough of the game at the time of its release. It's worth playing if you ever try any retro games in your stream. You'll see why it blew up as huge as it did!
@@GOTGames Im sure some people have already told you some if not most of this, but I will go ahead still and try to make it quick. Toby Fox is a music composer. He is also a fan of videogames, specially retro games. He made some small hacks here or there, including one of an old classic game called "Earthbound" (published in 2008). He changed the story of the game, some of the art and some songs. One of the songs was Megalovania. Over the years, Toby Fox kept some ideas around and kept composing for other little games, and WebComics. Around 2012, he have been working on some songs, and during a feverish night during a trip, he got the idea for a game, inspired in some of the tunes he was working on. He developed the idea, kept working on the music and the music inspired the story and the characters, and then he launched a Fundraiser, presenting his project for two games. He got the idea for one game first, but he felt like he needed to do it in two separate games. One of those 2 games, is Undertale. Megalovania, which was featured in that one track of the game hack in 2008, and featured somewhere else that I cant remember at the moment, got revamped and added to Undertale. The other game he planned in 2012 is being worked on as we speak. Since its much more complex than undertale, he released 2 parts of the full game (in chapters) on the span of a couple of years, but he keeps people updated. Undertale has a VERY big and active fandom. Very passionate community, in maaaaaany ways.
When this song is playing, "You're Gonna Have a Bad Time." One of the most memorable quotes from the game and is said by the skeleton in the video. One of many great lines that he says, but the one that the internet decided to make his catchphrase.
this is most likely the first video game i cired after i finished it,the soundtracks really touched me deep inside.i think you should react to some more undertale osts, the music matches perfectly to each scenes, and the stories are beautiful.
Undertale is easily one of my favourite games ever. The story is funny and heartwrenching, the concept is genius, and the composer/game designer (which I'm sure the comments have told you all about) is incredible. This game is so popular that they even had an entire orchestra play the OST, and it sounds gorgeous. I highly recommend you try the game or at least react to more! :)
Now where the hell did Undertale come from so suddenly? You bring just the content I crave! Like literally, here a short list of cravings I had in recent times: - Undertale OST's (literally everything is great, a lot of standouts, just do an Undertale OST stream dude!) - Various Anime Openings - Steins;Gate rewatch - Madoka (always) - Death Note - Slime - Higurashi (like, how even) - ... and many more reactions that were utterly unexpected
Yeah, that character, Sans, and this song in particular were big in memes a few years ago after the game came out. It is an excellent song though in and of itself. The whole game's got a really good soundtrack. There's a full soundtrack orchestral remix on RUclips that I occasionally like to just play in the background while I work. Also, I know you mostly do music and show reactions, but if you ever wanted to do a game playthrough stream this would be an excellent choice. It's fun, relatively short, and has a lot of really cool meta elements that make it a blast to experience blind.
Fun Fact: The song was actually around way before Undertale was. Toby Fox makes his own music tracks along with games and likes to reuse them. Megalovania was in several works Toby has done, such as a Halloween fan-game of Earthbound and the popular webcomic Homestuck which he worked on while making Undertale. He still recycles parts of his songs to this day such as in Deltarune (which is obvious considering it’s connection to Undertale) and Pokémon where he hid The Baby is You in Pokémon Sword and Shield (made during his Homestuck days as a joke poking fun on the male pregnancy trend) and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet where he reused part of Savior of the Waking World, a favorite of mine and one of his first Homestuck tracks.
if you're reacting to Toby Fox stuff, you should take a look at some of the old tracks he did for Homestuck... for a web comic, Homestuck has surprisingly FANTASTIC music. also there's a music video going around these days called The Greatest Living Show that Toby collaborated on with Itoki Hana, and that's definitely worth checking out... its beautiful.
Undertale released in 2015 but it is heavily inspired by older games like earthbound. Undertale’s creator, Toby fox, also made the music for the game, and the soundtrack is just amazing. I would definitely recommend checking out some more of the soundtrack as well as the music from Toby fox’s more recent project, Deltarune, which he also wrote. There are just so many great tracks
Undertale is the game that shows that a game doesn't need realistic graphics or even be 3D to be a good game, really there are people that only classified games as good or bad just for the graphics
The whole OST for Undertale is pretty good. The game is fairly recent (2015) but has a retro style. It's a fun game and it's definitely a unique experience.
Toby Fox loves to layer different melodies and also uses micro tones. He’s gone on to do music for Pokémon games and recently worked on Marine’s “I’m Your Treasure Box” (this is mostly speculation but also highly probable)
I'd like to see some OST from The Garden of Sinners. Either "In the Garden of Sinners" or "Spiral" both are great soundtracks to excellent movies related to the Fate series
i feel like shortening everything that needs to be known for this man 0:46 it's "megalovania", not "megaloviana" 1:10 you have indeed, most likely, heard it from somewhere else. just like how it's rainning somewhere else. and it's indeed a meme 1:36 the name's sans, and he indeed wears slippers. in fact, he always wears the same clothing 2:06 brass. octave brass to be precise (i totally have not made one hundred goofy megalovania remixes, which i only shared between my close friends) 2:21 if 8 years is old for you, then yeah 2:35 magic.. literally? and toby's skills with music aswell 3:11 it's a videogame created by Toby Fox, released in September 25, 2015 and it might not be a retro game, despite the retro graphics (anyone correct me if i'm wrong) and since you're a modern gamer, you should play Deltarune which was released in 2018 (react to NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A, The World Revolving, Chaos King's theme i think that's the name, Attack of the Killer Queen and BIG SHOT. there are way too many good musics 'round toby's games) 3:22 like i said, this year it's gonna be 9 years old with retro style 3:28 magic 4:47 i believe that every Undertale soundtrack was made in FLStudio 5:21 take a shot every time this guy asks "how's this so good?" also, magic 6:02 (honorable mention) this guy is having a bad time 💀 6:11 this section of the song is often called "brass section", with the main melody being composed of octave brass and half-square waves 6:26 yes, the video you're watching looped the song one time. although there are plenty of 1 hour long videos of megalovania 7:16 in short, with no spoilers of actual gameplay, sans is "giving you a bad time" 10:10 megalovania. fun fact, it comes from the term "megalomania", which i believe means, and i quote, "the delusional belief that one is important, powerful, or famous, as a form or symptom of mental disorder". in this case, it means "powerful" 11:01 some people take a few hours to recreate megalovania and ends up pretty accurately 11:17 with no more spoilers than this, you're dying. pretty much. like, about a hundred in-game deaths 11:28 it does 11:29 it's a soundtrack used in the only battle against sans the skeleton. if you wonder why his name doesn't start in capitals, it's because he's too lazy to turn on capitals, or just anything in general. in fact, the only soundtrack in the entire game that doesn't start with a capital letter is named "sans." 11:33 there's at least about 3 hours of gameplay if you speedrun it through the shortest path, and it's indeed really fun. couldn't purchase the game, but just by watching someone else play is kinda nice. normal gameplay can take more than a day 11:35 it's both a videogame and a soundtrack from the game yes, "Undertale" is a soundtrack inside the Undertale videogame. if you wanna check that out, feel free 12:07 before mentioning, "Undertale - Megalovania" is a remix from Toby's first mod, "Earthbound - Halloween Hack". there's different types of megalovanias, the most known being EBHH, Homestuck, Undertale and toby's remix for Smash Ultimate (i recommend you to check this one out) trust me, you're in for a ride damn, now that i see, this comment is kinda big sorry 'bout that
So glad you checked this out today 1: because it's a great song, they meshed 8bit sounds with instruments SOOO well!! And 2: because just the other day I thought of another game's OST that you'd love, Jet Set Radio Future. Not sure how many people here know it because it is a little old and a very unique game, but if you want some amazing early 2000's techno, look no further!
You should definitely check out more OSTs from this game, they are SOOO good. His Theme, Hopes and Dreams, ASGORE, Your Best Nightmare and Waterfall are all crazy
"Megalovania" is the Greek word for "Megalomania", which means "obsession with the exercise of power, especially in the domination of others". It is also the name of the song played when you fight Sans in Undertale. The song might be called this to relate to the abuse of your ability to copy and paste articles from the internet to explain what Megalovania is supposed to mean. „Megalomaniac“ is also a real term. a person who has an obsessive desire for power.
It's "Mega"-"lovania". Think "Transylvania" but instead of "Transyl" it's "Megalo". Undertale is an indie game with heavy influences from Earthbound, a classic Nintendo role playing game, released in 2015 by Toby Fox. Truly one of the greatest games of all time, to the point that the character you see on screen made a cameo in Super Smash Bros. as a dlc character costume. One of the best games with one of the best soundtracks. Kind of a ravenous fan base. If you haven't played Undertale...PLAY. FUCKING. UNDERTALE. I said something on your reaction to the Bleach song "Number One" along the lines of "it's great on its own, but is elevated to godlike status by the context in which it's played", and Undertale's whole soundtrack is like that, ESPECIALLY Megalovania. Play this game. Do not go to your grave having missed out on Undertale.
Oh boy, wasn’t expecting to see this today. I feel like I’m back in 2015 again. Undertale has one of the best OSTs in gaming history! If you plan on checking out more Undertale music, I definitely recommend • Undertale (Main Theme) • Battle Against a True Hero • Hopes and Dreams • Death By Glamour • Bergentrückung + ASGORE Those are just some of my favorite but there’s so much more. Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and all the game’s music, is a GENIUS!
If you're ever interested in checking out more from the Undertale OST, I highly recommend Hopes and Dreams. There's actually a mashup video on RUclips of three tracks from the game: Hopes and Dreams, Save the World, and Last Goodbye, that all go really well together. It's the kind of stuff that gets me dancing and rocking out but also a little teary-eyed all at the same time. Good stuff!
I did laugh at "megalovianna," but please do not feel embarrassed by this, I found it super endearing and thought it almost sounded cooler in a way lmao its like a city in Italy haha please never change
The music wen your the villain of the story Yeah undertale gives you the chose to be good /nurmle / evil Oh wan you be evil you have to kill all your friends but one of your friends in the end is overpower and surprise you with he's super power LV and that theme start in one of the most fun and hard fight in the undertale game
This track hits the hardest when it's in its original context. The music in itself is great, but people are incorrect to assume it would produce the same awe and goosebumps by just listening to the music alone. But it's great that it got you interested in Undertale! I recommend to just go in blind, it's a very interesting game, not a long one at that, and with the easy to understand mechanics.
the creator of Undertale Toby Fox is an incredible musician, and Undertale is an incredible experience if you ever start doing some gaming streams it's a must play. btw the three act song "Hopes and Dreams | SAVE the world | Last Goodbye" from Undertale is definitely worth a listen
7:17 You have a bad time, that's what's happening XD by the weakest, yet hardest boss at that... btw I have never heard somebody butcher the name Megalovania (meh-guh-lo-vain-ee-uh) so much, but I guess it happens ^^
Toby Fox has made lots of good songs and collabs as well. Like Marine song from Hololive. I recommend listening to Skies Forever Blue, or, The Greatest Living Show, with Itoki Hana's great vocals.
So the concept was first made in 2012, it then got released as Undertale in 2015 with all 101+ tracks made by the main creator. He uses sound packs to give the pieces that sort of retro snes feel.
DUDE, I would absolutely love to see a a playthrough on undertale if that is something you'd be interested in doing. It's legit my favourite game, even my friend who hates rpg's absolutely loved that game 💚 Undertale is a new retro style game (2015 i think?), but it is an absolute delight and an emotional journey. Definitely an experience. Even if you don't want to stream/record it, if you want to play it yourself I think it's around 10$ on steam, and well worth the money. Lastly as a sweet but sad anecdote: when this game came out, this man who recently lost his wife was continuously pushed by his friends to check it out. As he played through it he felt his wife would have loved it and it saddened him a bit. But as he saw the credits he found that her name was in there and it made him really happy that she got to experience it before she died.
"Megaloviana" ngl, laughed quite a bit on that one (the pronunciation is more like "megalovaynia" basicaly) And yeah, the Undertale OST is freaking amazing, "battle against a true hero" and "bergentrückung" are some of my other favorites And the fandom-made music for their created AUs is quite great as well, (Inktale megalovania for example, since it was one of the first that came to mind) Kinda recommend to play the game and after that you could hear "Undertale The Musical" (there is a playlist for it, but yeah, you would need to play the game, would be interesting for the live)
I think one of the best ways I could have been introduced to this series would have been to see this video, then seen the boss fight this song comes with, all dialogue, no context. I would have been so intrigued that way.
Tons of tracks from Undertale (or that Toby Fox makes in general) are insane! All the boss songs for sure. Undertale had its retro inspirations of course (such as Earthbound and OFF by Mortis Ghost) but it kicked off a lot and has huge cultural impact now. it really helped start a wave of Meta and multiple endings, of things being deceiving and secretive under the surface and so on. Also this song has the magical benefit of sounding good no mater how many times people switch beats around. -
Without spoilers this theme is equivalent to the escene of "Are You Not Entertained? Are You Not Entertained? Is This Not Why You Are Here?" from the movie Gladiator
Undertale is an indie game that came out in 2015, and Toby Fox pretty much did every OST (as well as the game itself, 'cause why not ?) This type of video games visuals are called 8bits (close enough lol) Megalovania is played while fighting the ultimate boss, if you made bad decisions during your game I'd love to see you react to "Death by glamour" and "Hopes and dreams" next, they're both really different. And "Bonetrousle" is more of a meme song, but still a banger !
Now if you already see Megalovania from Undertale Let me introduce you to Touhou and you can start from either U.N Owen Was Her or Septette for the dead princess (This 2 are some of my personal favorites)
This arc is gonna end with you live playing the game and I'm loving this idea ! Also fun fact the creator of the game has composed every music before even thinking about the game , he then created it to fit the musics in
It's one of the best games I've ever played this year. It's a retro-style game that subverts all your expectations about game mechanics. All the battles with monsters and bosses could be resolved without killing them, that's why there are pacific route ending and genocide route ending. It will be super fun to watch on stream too!! actually, a lot of streamers played it on stream.
Undertale is a semi-recent retro-style RPG that introduced a gimmick in which you could choose to fight or explicitly NOT fight each of the enemies. Different "runs" (kill all, befriend all, mix it up, etc.) result in different endings. "Megalovania" is the final boss theme that plays during one of the runs. Most of the game (design, code, music, etc.) is made by the game's lead developer Toby Fox (though not a 100% solo project). It's a deeply treasured game due to the themes it evokes through its gameplay and the interesting characters & twists it includes. Many people in the community have also made covers or re-arrangements of the game's music with several being ASTOUNDINGLY good. E.g. Thai McGrath has a video called "Megalovania, but it's an anime opening" that re-arranges THIS song and it's fantastic.
All of the music from Undertale is phenomenal. I listen to the soundtrack at work all the time. Undyne's song is my ringtone. The entire game is incredible, and if you really want a crazy rabbit hole, go and check all the AUs that have been made of it. They range from amazing to deeply disturbing.
I highly recommend playing Undertale! It's a humble indie game that took the internet by storm back in 2015, and the composer/developer Toby Fox has gained massive popularity ever since. He's made music for the most recent Pokemon games, and an arrangement of Megalovania (along with a Sans costume) was even added to Super Smash Bros! The game itself is fairly short, and mainly focuses on comedy and playing with typical RPG tropes. Though streams and let's plays are notorious for attracting viewers who backseat and spoil, seeing reactions to people playing it for the first time is still quite popular.
Yeah, Megalovania mostly became a meme because it is so recognizable. You can literally just play the first three notes, and everyone will know which song is playing. As many have already stated, the soundtrack for Undertale (along with the rest of the game) was made by Toby Fox, and although the song itself has a specific purpose for being in the game, the song Megalovania is also sort of Toby's own theme song as he has made versions of this song for almost every of his own projects that he has worked on. So although the song is thematically always relevant to where it was placed, it is also just a song that Toby has worked on for several years, changing and improving it everytime he remakes it. That is probably the main reason why the song goes so hard, Toby literally worked on perfecting this one song, and during that process, he has also learned alot about how to make a soundtrack, as each soundtrack in Undertale is pretty close to being as catchy as Megalovania is. For more context, the word "megalovania" is a different way to refer to "megalomania", which refers to an obsession with the exercise of power... you may have heard the term "megalomaniac" being thrown around before. Also, to help you with pronouncing it... just read it like this; [MEGA - LO - VA - NIA]
This song is like Toby Fox's magnum opus. It's probably the one he's most proud of, and for good reason! This score is very very iconic, and has definitely attracted loads of attention. Undertale itself is an incredible game that i'd highly suggest playing! It truly is a one of a kind experience

Megalo-va-nia like MEGALOVAAAANIIIIA
wait until he finds out one guy made this and all of undertale
megaloviana? xD
the barrel of a shotgun looks extra juicy today xD
It’s epic because that skeleton in slippers is the end game boss of the GENOCIDE route AND the hardest, most rage inducing boss in the game
Undertale is a somewhat recent retro styled game made by one guy, Toby Fox. And he made all the music. It’s insane.
Also, that was a delightful reaction
The game was mostly just Toby, but with some art assets by Temmie Chiang too! (I think I spelled her name right)
The music is, as stated, all his own
Definitely wasn’t made by just one person but Toby was the lead game dev for it. Just take a look at the credits.
While he was doing other music projects I might add. He’s pretty talented.
Toby is also one of the few people to play Smash Bros against Sakurai and almost beat him
@@RoflCannon6 it was almost entirely him, temmie did some of the art
The Undertale soundtrack is FIRE, and the game itself is an amazing and emotional experience. Megalovania in particular takes place during the hardest part of the game, when...well, when you're looking for a 'Bad Time'.
Stay determined.
I get PTSD from this song after I beat Sans

@@GOTGames Lets just say, if you hear this music in game you've REALLY gone out of your way for it and you deserve everything that's about to go down. The memes are largely because once you've encountered this moment (through gameplay or through just watching lets plays) you will NEVER forget it~ XD
Two fun things about this song:
The artist who made this also worked on Marine's "I'm Your Treasure Box"
When you hear this in Undertale, your character is being punished for doing something legitimately terrible
excuse me what??? I'll never feel the same when i hear that song again
I would like this, but I don't want to be the one to ruin the fact that it currently has 69 likes, so have a comment instead recording this amazing moment.
I did not know that wtf
wait what? toby fox? Wasn't Camellia the one collaborating with Marine in "I'm your treasure box"?
@@vitouwu9839 It was Camellia and U.Z. Inu (AKA Uzai Inu AKA Annoying Dog AKA Toby Fox).
You should react to more songs from this soundtrack. One of the absolute best game soundtracks out there.
He was also just 17 years old when he made his first version for mother (earthbound)
And later he made a version for super smash bros ultimate,
Love this song! It was so cool when they added it to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Also, Undertale was released in 2015.
Oh love that!!
Undertale OST is very complementary with each other track
I recommend playing it 100%
Also the community of Undertale created so much animation/fan Lyrics above the song its just ridiculous
Would happily play it 💯💯
@@GOTGames Please do.
@@GOTGamesplease play it.
Not gonna lie that is a very epic description of the fight. 🤣
One of the best boss fights in gaming history
Megalovania starts playing when a nihilistic individual tries a futile attempt at saving reality...
🤯
It's a boss theme, bot it's not Sans's theme, if you know you know
Honestly, I'd love to see you play through Undertale. It's a relatively short game, but there's a reason, why it's so beloved!
"U.Z" is the first two letters of "uzai" which means "annoying" in Japanese and "inu" is, of course "dog", so yeah.
I can't believe that 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Could you do undertale "hopes and dreams", "save the world" and "last goodbye" next? They all have decently similar melodies and sound alike because each one is kind of a continuation of the previous so you could do them all in 1 video or separate, I'd just really like to see your reaction to those though.
I'd be happy to check it out 💯💯
Thank you. Everyone always forgets to put Last Goodbye along with the other two.
Happy to 💯💯
@@GOTGames yes please
BIG SHOT reaction when 😩
People love the undertale OST because so much of the music references each other.
"What happens in the game while this song is playing?"
Glad you asked, you:
-Have a bad time
-Feel your sins crawling on your back
-Get dunked on
-Are dying repeatedly
(The game held up pretty good and remained relevant for years, but that should be a given seeing how everything above does indeed happen)
I love everything related to Toby Fox... and yes, this is a meme song. the title is pronounced "megalo" as in megalomaniac, and "vania" as in Transylvania. idk why exactly. but yeah, this song has quite the history... it's absolutely steeped in internet deep lore. it was originally used in an old rom hack that Toby Fox did for Earthbound, then it was repurposed and used in the web comic Homestuck, before Toby finally used it as a boss battle theme for Undertale. so having passed through the hands of three different fanbases, it's had a lot of time to pick up steam and become a real meme juggernaut. it helps that it's just a really solid piece of music too.
as for what Undertale is... it's a video game, and it can be bought on steam for relatively cheap! the game is an RPG, so like, you wander around in the overworld much like you would in a nintendo game... like pokemon fire red, or legend of zelda link to the past. you can encounter characters and talk to them, and a lot of the game is wandering around trying to accomplish little objectives, but sometimes you'll run into things in the overworld that will trigger the game's unique battle mechanic.
when in battle, you get a little heart that you can move around in a box at the bottom of your screen. different encounters will toss different little bits at you that will hurt you if they hit you, but you can avoid them by dodging. and each encounter gives you options, such as fighting, interacting, or running from the encounter. in order to decide what to do, all you really need to know is that the game will remember it.
and story really is the core selling point of Undertale. it has an amazing story to tell, with multiple different endings, depending on what you choose to do. and all the core characters are much beloved by everyone who's played the game... like, that skeleton there? he's just a really cool guy. very chill. he makes jokes, and everybody likes him a lot.
also, I hate to be the one to do this, but say "Homestuck music" to your twitch chat sometime, I wanna see how many of a particular kind of internet weirdo (affectionate) are in there.
That's amazing! Definitely would like to check it out 💯
@@GOTGames Im sure some people have already told you some if not most of this, but I will go ahead still and try to make it quick.
Very passionate community, in maaaaaany ways.
by team it toby and temmie
I certainly didn't expect Undertale OST reaction on this channel
G.O.T: "How is it so good?!"
Me: "BECAUSE TOBY FOX IS A FUCKING GENIUS"
BUT SERIOUSLY, YOU NEED TO PLAY UNDERTALE!!
It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming...
and kids like you...
Should be burning in hell
Should be burning in hell
Should be burning in hell!!!
@@kenkaneki3873 I really don’t wanna be that guy but its supposed to be “on days like these kids like you”
When this song is playing, "You're Gonna Have a Bad Time."
One of the most memorable quotes from the game and is said by the skeleton in the video. One of many great lines that he says, but the one that the internet decided to make his catchphrase.
As an undertale fan I am now gonna make a *bad* joke on how you put “you’re gonna have a bad time” in capital letters
@@NoSkill_fr As someone who admittedly never played Undertale but watched through several Let's Plays of it, I'll accept the critique. 😛
this is most likely the first video game i cired after i finished it,the soundtracks really touched me deep inside.i think you should react to some more undertale osts, the music matches perfectly to each scenes, and the stories are beautiful.
1:36 "skeleton wears slippers?"
Bro is actually the most chill person in the game, so why not?
The boss battle was worthy for this music. It's one of the hardest in the game and the end of a full genocide route
Now where the hell did Undertale come from so suddenly? You bring just the content I crave!
Like literally, here a short list of cravings I had in recent times:
- Undertale OST's (literally everything is great, a lot of standouts, just do an Undertale OST stream dude!)
- Various Anime Openings
- Steins;Gate rewatch
- Madoka (always)
- Death Note
- Slime
- Higurashi (like, how even)
- ... and many more reactions that were utterly unexpected
Feel like i need a whole reaction to the entire undertale soundtrack
But specifically battle against a true hero, and hopes and dreams
The whole OST for Undertale is pretty good.
The game is fairly recent (2015) but has a retro style.
It's a fun game and it's definitely a unique experience.
"What is happening when this song plays in the game?"
SA: You are getting destroyed.
Toby Fox loves to layer different melodies and also uses micro tones. He’s gone on to do music for Pokémon games and recently worked on Marine’s “I’m Your Treasure Box” (this is mostly speculation but also highly probable)
One of the best indepedant game you can ever play. And this song is so mythic. One of the best ost of all time in video game !
Btw you can listen to ALL the ost of undertale, like Battle Against a True Hero, Asgore Theme, Toriel Theme. They are all so good !
please do a series on playing through undertale that would be awesome id love to see you try it
I'd like to see some OST from The Garden of Sinners. Either "In the Garden of Sinners" or "Spiral" both are great soundtracks to excellent movies related to the Fate series
i feel like shortening everything that needs to be known for this man
0:46 it's "megalovania", not "megaloviana"
1:10 you have indeed, most likely, heard it from somewhere else. just like how it's rainning somewhere else. and it's indeed a meme
1:36 the name's sans, and he indeed wears slippers. in fact, he always wears the same clothing
2:06 brass. octave brass to be precise (i totally have not made one hundred goofy megalovania remixes, which i only shared between my close friends)
2:21 if 8 years is old for you, then yeah
2:35 magic.. literally? and toby's skills with music aswell
3:11 it's a videogame created by Toby Fox, released in September 25, 2015 and it might not be a retro game, despite the retro graphics (anyone correct me if i'm wrong)
and since you're a modern gamer, you should play Deltarune which was released in 2018 (react to NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A, The World Revolving, Chaos King's theme i think that's the name, Attack of the Killer Queen and BIG SHOT. there are way too many good musics 'round toby's games)
3:22 like i said, this year it's gonna be 9 years old with retro style
3:28 magic
4:47 i believe that every Undertale soundtrack was made in FLStudio
5:21 take a shot every time this guy asks "how's this so good?"
also, magic
6:02 (honorable mention) this guy is having a bad time 💀
6:11 this section of the song is often called "brass section", with the main melody being composed of octave brass and half-square waves
6:26 yes, the video you're watching looped the song one time. although there are plenty of 1 hour long videos of megalovania
7:16 in short, with no spoilers of actual gameplay, sans is "giving you a bad time"
10:10 megalovania. fun fact, it comes from the term "megalomania", which i believe means, and i quote, "the delusional belief that one is important, powerful, or famous, as a form or symptom of mental disorder". in this case, it means "powerful"
11:01 some people take a few hours to recreate megalovania and ends up pretty accurately
11:17 with no more spoilers than this, you're dying. pretty much. like, about a hundred in-game deaths
11:28 it does
11:29 it's a soundtrack used in the only battle against sans the skeleton. if you wonder why his name doesn't start in capitals, it's because he's too lazy to turn on capitals, or just anything in general. in fact, the only soundtrack in the entire game that doesn't start with a capital letter is named "sans."
11:33 there's at least about 3 hours of gameplay if you speedrun it through the shortest path, and it's indeed really fun. couldn't purchase the game, but just by watching someone else play is kinda nice. normal gameplay can take more than a day
11:35 it's both a videogame and a soundtrack from the game
yes, "Undertale" is a soundtrack inside the Undertale videogame. if you wanna check that out, feel free
12:07 before mentioning, "Undertale - Megalovania" is a remix from Toby's first mod, "Earthbound - Halloween Hack". there's different types of megalovanias, the most known being EBHH, Homestuck, Undertale and toby's remix for Smash Ultimate (i recommend you to check this one out)
trust me, you're in for a ride
damn, now that i see, this comment is kinda big
sorry 'bout that
So glad you checked this out today 1: because it's a great song, they meshed 8bit sounds with instruments SOOO well!!
And 2: because just the other day I thought of another game's OST that you'd love, Jet Set Radio Future. Not sure how many people here know it because it is a little old and a very unique game, but if you want some amazing early 2000's techno, look no further!
THE CONCEPT, THE CONCEPT OF LOVE!
“What the hell is happening in the game when this song is playing?”
You don’t wanna know😅
That's a crazy epic tune, considering it's being done in 8bit chiptune
You should definitely check out more OSTs from this game, they are SOOO good. His Theme, Hopes and Dreams, ASGORE, Your Best Nightmare and Waterfall are all crazy
"Megalovania" is the Greek word for "Megalomania", which means "obsession with the exercise of power, especially in the domination of others". It is also the name of the song played when you fight Sans in Undertale. The song might be called this to relate to the abuse of your ability to copy and paste articles from the internet to explain what Megalovania is supposed to mean. „Megalomaniac“ is also a real term. a person who has an obsessive desire for power.
they did a live orchestra performance for this soundtrack!! it’s on youtube. it’s so good ! 😭
Yes, that skeleton is wearing slippers. He is also notoriously the hardest boss in the game.
Perhaps a better rhyme to use as an example would be Megalomania, which is the word it's based on. XD
Oh boy, wasn’t expecting to see this today. I feel like I’m back in 2015 again. Undertale has one of the best OSTs in gaming history! If you plan on checking out more Undertale music, I definitely recommend
• Undertale (Main Theme)
• Battle Against a True Hero
• Hopes and Dreams
• Death By Glamour
• Bergentrückung + ASGORE
Those are just some of my favorite but there’s so much more. Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and all the game’s music, is a GENIUS!
This is played during the final boss if you choose the evil route and kill everybody.
Good stuff!
You have discovered YET another rabbit hole
one of the Best Boos Fight Music In Any medie ever, top 10 easily for me, soo good it became a meme
7:10 Awnser: The most complicated fight in the game ("You feel your sins crawling up your back") :)
I did laugh at "megalovianna," but please do not feel embarrassed by this, I found it super endearing and thought it almost sounded cooler in a way lmao its like a city in Italy haha please never change
This is fr ur first time listening to this?!?!
Edit: Its pronounced Mega-low-vein-ee-ah
The music wen your the villain of the story
Yeah undertale gives you the chose to be good /nurmle / evil
Oh wan you be evil you have to kill all your friends but one of your friends in the end is overpower and surprise you with he's super power LV and that theme start in one of the most fun and hard fight in the undertale game
The ENTIRE Undertale soundtrack is God Tier
This track hits the hardest when it's in its original context.
The music in itself is great, but people are incorrect to assume it would produce the same awe and goosebumps by just listening to the music alone.
But it's great that it got you interested in Undertale! I recommend to just go in blind, it's a very interesting game, not a long one at that, and with the easy to understand mechanics.
To answer the question about what is happening in the game when this plays: You're having "a bad time"
Man, this brings back memories. I love Undertale, and now I wanna play it again
the creator of Undertale Toby Fox is an incredible musician, and Undertale is an incredible experience if you ever start doing some gaming streams it's a must play.
btw the three act song "Hopes and Dreams | SAVE the world | Last Goodbye" from Undertale is definitely worth a listen
7:17 You have a bad time, that's what's happening XD
by the weakest, yet hardest boss at that...
btw I have never heard somebody butcher the name Megalovania (meh-guh-lo-vain-ee-uh) so much, but I guess it happens ^^
Toby Fox has made lots of good songs and collabs as well. Like Marine song from Hololive. I recommend listening to Skies Forever Blue, or, The Greatest Living Show, with Itoki Hana's great vocals.
Now get him into Touhou.
Bad Apple anyone?
yeah the more rabbit holes we get him into the better
Give him the Devil Mansion team
Or the Lunarians
This both SLAPS
I HAVENT CLICKED THIS FAST IN AWHILE. Excited for the reaction.
It's legit my favourite game, even my friend who hates rpg's absolutely loved that game 💚
Undertale is a new retro style game (2015 i think?), but it is an absolute delight and an emotional journey.
"Megaloviana" ngl, laughed quite a bit on that one (the pronunciation is more like "megalovaynia" basicaly)
And yeah, the Undertale OST is freaking amazing, "battle against a true hero" and "bergentrückung" are some of my other favorites
And the fandom-made music for their created AUs is quite great as well, (Inktale megalovania for example, since it was one of the first that came to mind)
Kinda recommend to play the game and after that you could hear "Undertale The Musical" (there is a playlist for it, but yeah, you would need to play the game, would be interesting for the live)
I could listen to it all day
I think one of the best ways I could have been introduced to this series would have been to see this video, then seen the boss fight this song comes with, all dialogue, no context.
Undertale is an indie game that came out in 2015, and Toby Fox pretty much did every OST (as well as the game itself, 'cause why not ?)
This type of video games visuals are called 8bits (close enough lol)
Megalovania is played while fighting the ultimate boss, if you made bad decisions during your game
I'd love to see you react to "Death by glamour" and "Hopes and dreams" next, they're both really different. And "Bonetrousle" is more of a meme song, but still a banger !
Thank you for the reaction and also the laughs because I've never seen anyone struggle that much to say the track name XD
7:16
"what's happening in the game?"
*DETERMINATION*
I was just watching your reaction and listening to the music when the ptsd hits and I’m remembering the sans battle
Now if you already see Megalovania from Undertale
Let me introduce you to Touhou and you can start from either U.N Owen Was Her or Septette for the dead princess
(This 2 are some of my personal favorites)
Undertale was released in 2015, but it's a retro-style game. It was made by one single guy and he made the whole soundtrack (101 Songs!) too.
The man called them "2-bit" games. Oh we're going to be hanging on to that one.
Man I love this game so much. I would love to see a blind play through
This arc is gonna end with you live playing the game and I'm loving this idea !
Also fun fact the creator of the game has composed every music before even thinking about the game , he then created it to fit the musics in
THE NAME OF THE CHANNEL SAYS IT ALL, I WANT UNDERTALE GAMEPLAY RN LUKE!
I can’t help but headbang to the section with just the guitar and drums 🎸
you should totally listen to other ones like:
- Heartache
- Death by Glamour
- ASGORE
- Finale
- Hopes and Dreams
U forgot the main one? Undertale?
Well this was unexpected
But HIGHLY welcomed
Imagine hearing that against the only enemy that hits first.
And doesn't stay still and get hit
You know you gonna have some bad time (basically you're fucked) when this play (you gonna be punished)
Haven't played the game, but i do believe a boss fight is going one while this music plays
Ohoho you definitely should react to Undertale OSTs and play it. It definitely worth it
It's one of the best games I've ever played this year.
