The end of this video made you as relatable as ever. Being a real person that deals with real limitations, making due with the best you have available. I know you've always been real, but it's nice to see more things I can relate to at my level. Thanks so much for making the effort to share SO much of your craft!
The camera won't focusrite ? Haha.. ha... *closes the door* Seriously though, thanks to this vid, I know wich interface to buy next. I looked up the Saffire 40, but I don't have firewire, and I don't really like optical. BUT... they have the same one (at least the inputs and layout, I don't know if the pre-amps are the same) with USB connexion, the Scarlett 18I20. And it's a little bit cheaper than the audiobox that has the same amount of inputs, only one headphone jack, and no individual peak meters. So thanks a lot !
+Arthur Vyncke (Ephora) I own the Focusrite 18i20. I have Firewire ports on my computer but went with the USB interface due to the device being newer and USB being so universal. I have it paired with the Focusrite Octopre MkII and regularly record 10+ simultaneous tracks with no problem! Highly recommended!
Yeah dude I run the focus rite 18i20 as well and it's so great. Just recently started to use the headphone mix software for monitoring and it's improved my life so damn well. Only thing is I bought some cheap quarter inch to audio in so the adapter cuts out so much haha. But other than that, no complaints!
Here it is 10 years after this video was posted and it still stands on solid ground. Well worth watching and learning from. Need I say more... October 2024
Very nice. This guy has a lot of talent, good sense and a terrific attitude. The gear was carefully chosen and he uses it to it´s full potential, and his stuff sounds amazing. What else can I say?
Great video Graham! Glad you did this tour. With all the years of video teaching, coaching and inspiring, some people are disappointed that you are not in a million-dollar studio with a 60 channel SSL console. But, I'm not. That's not what you teach. If you don't need it, don't buy it... you said that! The desk is super hot dude. Be encouraged, keep grinding ! Your studio rocks. Already There is a great song. Also, I read in a BMI news letter that most of the so-called major studios were loosing money or doing out of business, due to home studios and the quality achieved. Really do tell..
soon as you said you you record for church, i instantly found a new respect for you. god bless man. i too am a music producer, but not many music producers who believe in god, so more power to you bro!
Dude.... Awesome. You owed it, deserved it, didn't-need-it-but-hey to yourself. I applaud your couch, and your desk. NOT because they are "useful" but because you have poured your heart and soul into your projects and revolution. That, THIS channel (non musical, youtube) and your site are worth at least a self-treat to some black leather. Sweet room, good gear choices, pretty "color" pallette, well executed and properly managed. cheers from Boston. Jay

I really enjoy your page. It's helped me realize where my money needs to go to have a quality and affordable home studio. Which will hopefully expand as the years go on.
Thanks Graham! I work out of a small home studio, too! I have many satisfied clients. I'm surprised how well my recordings and mixes turn out, without having a perfect, huge multi-room studio set up. I appreciate your tutorials, and thanks for showing us your set up. This video gives me some guidance on where to go next.
Well, first of all I would like to extend a heart felt Thank You for all the content you upload to RUclips. It has helped me tremendously. As a NOOB to home recording I have found your videos invaluable. Thank you so very much, and I loved the tour of your studio!
Congratulation ! I can't believe I actually use he same gear set up. well 80% close. Thank You for the inside look. May many hours of great recordings come your way.
Great videos man. I love how much detail you give of each thing. Normally people will be like, yeah, this is my interface... This is desk.... This is my computer....
Great studio Graham! Nice to see your new place and where the magic will happen from now on... I'm also a Saffire user - loving their interfaces and how they are ready for the new Yosemite as well... Back to the subject: THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! #GrabandoEnCasa
Yeah I loved the leather couch comment, made me laugh, I haven't been a fan of yours , you always pop up in my feeds, but your starting to grow on me, keep up the good work
Awesome reference for building my studio. I'm definitely getting myself some of that equipment. Thank you for your efforts and great content! The world needs more people like you!
I have to say that I always enjoy this video man. Thanks a lot. Your studio is pretty sweet, and I can imagine all of the fun you have while using it. I am also building up. Almost done. I'm about 5 grand away from where I want to be. Peace...
Dude...the 80's...especially mid to late 80's...memories, dude...memories..."The Golden Years"....you got THAT right...metal was big...and so was the hair...LOL!!! If I could live any time of my life over and over again for eternity...THAT would be the time for me. Lotta "firsts" for me that era...first girlfriend that got freaky, got my first guitar, amp and distortion pedal...heard Metallica "Orion" and that was it...been hooked ever since...and I'm in my forties now...lol. The 80's man...damn good times!!!
@@DrBuffaloBalls I think in order for "the place where he sits" to have "the perfect sound" he does have to treat the entire room lol don't estimate back corners, if one doesn't treat them then lots of low end shit can build up real bad from there, I'm pretty sure he treats the back wall with quite some effort he just didn't show it in the frame. Also did you notice how even if he's at the desk talking about the computer it still kinda echos? I think the other guy is right, it's the build-in limiter of the camera that crushed his direct voice and boosted every little noise way up
Very nice set-up, pretty straight forward, yet still enough to do amazing things! I am also in the works in converting my detached one car garage into my studio, but it's slightly larger and I am using the whole garage, I really don't need the garage for storing anything as I now have a large shed out back...and eventually I am adding on to the front side and back side of the garage, and connect it to the house in the middle, and will eventually have a nice sized control room, live room, and vocal booth..but for now, just the one room from the one car garage to get a decent sized space...and have a full acoustic drum kit fit in it! Basically I'll just be adding good sound insulation, sheet-rock, laminate flooring, maybe wall carpet 3ft from the ground up, and of course some acoustic panels...
nice rig presentation ! simply put! inspiring how to not get caught up in a multitude of abundance of equipment, but to find less that would create a magnitude by simple-wise approach.
Nice video. I believe in keeping it simple. My studio is simple as well. I'm glad you showed your hardware also. Gotta step my game up on my hardware. Keep up the good work.
Nice studio. I just bought a piece of gear for mine. Bought an Eleven Rack and it works perfect for what I need done. The preamp is really good that's built in to it and it doesn't give out no clicks or pops when using it as a interface. I'm gonna build a studio like yours for xmas lol.
This is a great and helpful video to thousands of people learning the craft. Sadly, even something done with such a spirit of sharing, care and consideration cant keep a scrap of dreck like Rachel from spewing her poison. I hope Graham doesn't stop sharing his insights because the rest of us truly appreciate him.
Great setup I have had my studio since 1983 full time for about 20 years. I like your view you don't have to have the best of everything to make great recordings. Some people go into it thinking oh if I get this 2000.00 mic everything will sound great. There is not much you can't do with The shure SM 57 and 58.
Thanks for sharing this video of your studio! It is really informative and inspirational seeing how someone else turns his limited space into a beautiful working professional studio. Oh yeah, I love Focusrite products too!
Hay, Gram, thanks for putting this detailed video together. I really like your setup. Very clean and your presentation makes it real easy to understand. Thanks again, I know this video took a lot of time and effort to put together.
Nice Ikea Klippan! I have the exact same sofa in my studio and I never sit on it either :) I also have the Ikea Expedit shelf system for my turntable/vinyl collection.
Dope studio, my dude! You remind me of an engineer we took from assistant engineer (At the time Glen was the engineer when we recorded at Sigma Sound in NY) to ENGINEER many years ago. His name is Tony Maserati. Tony was way ahead of his time. To work with us he had to be. We drove him crazy lol. BUT.... if made him realize that he didn't need a TON of gear.... he needed a small amount of gear than can do a TON of shit!... Yo, you even look a little bit like Tony, man! lol. Hey, love your studio.... and love that you focus on the music and task at hand of what you know & can do. The idiot below (Rachel Hilgert) is just a cyber-hater. keep doing your thing, bro!! Great studio!
man thanks for this!!!! your simplicity is SO inspirational for me and I try to do the same in my work thanks for proving constantly that less is more did i say thanks? no? thanks man!!
About 5-6 months ago we had a big lightning storm that knocked out pretty much my entire system and since I've been a little short on the budget all of my production (and gaming q.q) activities on the PC have had to take a rest. About a week ago I finally got a chance to place an order for the last two missing parts of the machine: a GPU and a new interface. Today I got to test out the Xenyx Q502USB I ordered and man, what a treat from the pawn-shop MBox Mini USB3 that blew up on me. I would have liked to have gotten something bigger, but right now I just don't need that. Seeing you're (humble) setup makes me feel a bit better about my decision--more is nice, but having what you need to meet your requirements for work is really all that matters. I also found out today that my monitors' amps didn't blow, woo! There's $300ish 'saved'.
Graham. I'm impressed with your studio instruments, your self confidence, design and obvious love for what you do. There is however one thing that stands out like a sore thumb. Your sound in there is extremely hollow (almost like in floor to ceiling tiled bathoom) Suggest you seriously work on your room acoustics. May you have a great recording career.
Funny how people are tripping out on your gear. Its all application not equipment. Good video. I have better gear than on paper. But yet I still love your videos and find them very helpful. All reassuring me that its all about how you use it that really matters. Cheers

The candle on the left is for warmth which is a huge secret in getting a better mix.
It's so true, so so true
i knew i was missing something...
light it with matches though if you want that vintage sound

One of the best home studios that I have seen! Thanks for everything Graham!
so happy that you decided to do this setup video!!!!! thank you so much for sharing. and i love your new desk.
You don't need to justify buying that amazing desk, comfort is everything!
Yeah I loved the leather couch comment, made me laugh, I haven't been a fan of yours , you always pop up in my feeds, but your starting to grow on me, keep up the good work
I see a lot of equipments someone told me not to buy, but i like your work and i think its really about how you work not what you use. Great video

late 80's early 90's !!!!!!!!! he'll yeah !!!!! I'm with ya there. very often I think to myself about how much I miss that period in time.
I've got a Scarlett 18i20 and love it. Great studio btw!
Great video Graham. Such a simple setup CAN yield great results.
You`re representation and skill. Is totally superb.
Inspiring for me...been searching for this kinda video for a long time....finally got it..
Top video tour, love the basic approach & honesty you're sharing, much appreciated.
Keep up the great work!!
Very nice set-up man... AND ya gt some WONDERFUL deals on your equiptment as well. Best of luck to ya..STAY SAFE.MIX N MASTER WELL, & GOD BLESS!!!!
Great vid.
You're so cool! I want your studio, couch AND video games!
Where is your lava lamp? How can you expect to get good mixes without a lava lamp? Studio looks great other than this glaring omission.
A BIG Congratumalations! (Congrats) on Your Own New Home Recording Studio Graham (& Fellows). Really Nice Graham & Im Diggin it Brother.
This has been really helpful! Just going on my internship for CRAS so I'll keep this in mind when I wanna create my own home studio.
Dude, I just became your fan. You still have your Super Nintendo too! Sure it's one of the most important piece of gear in your studio! :D
Man, the amount of echo in that room...
Pretty sure that's just because it isn't really worth it to treat the whole room. His desk is the only place where he needs the perfect sound.
It's probably because video camera's have a vicious limiter built in. That's exaggerating the ambience.
DrBuffaloBalls I’ve never heard such a load of bullshit before in my life until I read that statement you made. Fucking hell 😂
It's not echo, is reverb.
Nice bro. Even the natural reverb of ya room is beautiful. Love the Bible in the studio as well. Do it big!
Nice studio! I recognized the Dave Ramsey and Jon Acuff books as soon as you pointed the camera at the video game station.

+1 for Focusrite! Got a Saffire Pro 40 myself; looking to add 8 more pres via ADAT for drum tracking. That ElevenRack looks nice...

With all those reflectors, there sure is alot of room ambience. Maybe the floor?
youre awesome man Everything you say is exactly on point youre building the future of music and doing a great job Keep it up !

Lots of Focusrite here, but I can't see so popular Red 3. Did you tested Red3 in the past?
Nice setup bro! still watching in 2016!

great studio! i love your videos man. learning so much.
did you forget to EQ your vocals for this one though? haha :D
Great studio Graham simple yet powerful just how I'm setting mine up
Nice space. Very symmetrical look. Aesthetically pleasing. My $.02.
thanks for sharing !! but your room needs a little bit adjustments for acoustic treatment !! treat the ceiling
All that absorption and still the reverb???
You have done amazing work sir.
Thanks for sharing this video of your studio! It is really informative and inspirational seeing how someone else turns his limited space into a beautiful working professional studio. Oh yeah, I love Focusrite products too!
this was amazing i love your setup brother. this gets me so inspired.

Man, your studio just gave me a huge idea :D God bless!
love the leather sofa, always prestigious for photographers and music studios! : )
2:00 omg the platinum gamecube on the left! memories =)
Most important in this room is the standing tones...... that are overwhelming. I'm sure he has to spend all his time mixing around the room.
Your setup is awesome. I am in the process of building my rack gear up now.
I get the leather sofa thing!! Cool studio! Mine too is a built in of a one car garage.
Awesome Graham!! Congrats!!!
Nice Ikea Klippan! I have the exact same sofa in my studio and I never sit on it either :) I also have the Ikea Expedit shelf system for my turntable/vinyl collection.

Awesome video and killer studio. Thanks for sharing.
Okay, they are the stuffs but how are they connected ? Please show the backend system too
That would probably be like a 30min. video, but I want to see it, too ;)
DO IT GRAHAM
I'm gonna build one of those black desks!
I bought a studio desk in Amazon. Rly nice one for cheap price. Maple with black hardware. 90 mins to put it together.
You're the man, Graham. Impossible to dislike! :-)
I use the same trigger... Awesome!!!
That's crazy I play Nintendo when I'm stressed out too it really helps me get my head in the right space to produce
man thanks for this!!!!
your simplicity is SO inspirational for me and I try to do the same in my work
thanks for proving constantly that less is more
did i say thanks? no?
thanks man!!
About 5-6 months ago we had a big lightning storm that knocked out pretty much my entire system and since I've been a little short on the budget all of my production (and gaming q.q) activities on the PC have had to take a rest. This is legit my ideal studio man, so sick!
You need to sort out the sound of your room, could just be the mic and digital goings on, but doesn't sound great right now (based on the video)
Your eyebrows are amazing.
Graham. I'm impressed with your studio instruments, your self confidence, design and obvious love for what you do.
