Hey, thanks for the clear video. I had to replace the battery on my canyon aeroad cf slx disc 8.0 di2. It died on me after (believe it or not) 2 years and 8 months. The last two months, I had to charge it before every ride. Last week, no more charging at all. With your video, I knew wich tools to buy and how to reach the battery. It's not difficult if you follow your instructions. I completed the hole replacement in about 40min in a quit pace. My compliments to you and you have another follower.
hum.. not really good news to ear that the battery only lasted 2,5 years. I'm on the fence here, and this seems a deal breaker to me. Thanks for sharing and great work on the bike!
Thanks! I'm sure the original battery arrived slightly depleted - I get much better performance from the new battery even compared to when I got the back new! Di2 works great - until it doesn't! And everything is expensive - even if you're looking after your bike yourself.
Very clear and informative video, thanks very much for going to the effort of filming the process! I'd just add one thing, that Shimano recommend the BB cups are pressed in dry to carbon frames although ofc it's personal preference to follow this.
Yes they do but I worry enough about hammering out these cups even with grease! Case in point - I've just had a frame warrantied after removing a PF BB took part of the BB shell with it!

I actually use a tool off Aliexpress for more gently removing these cups now. But since you knocking out the nylon cups rather than the bearings themselves it should be ok. One of my frames went back to Canyon UK for warranty and they reused the BB cups which I did question and they seemed fine with it!

The only thing I'd still like to know after watching this video is why you preferred to use the huge Unior 1680/4 tool to press in the cups ( 02:33 ), although its spindle doesn't fit the 90.3 bushings, and the 90.3 bushings would make it easier, as you mention in the video. Why didn't you use your RRP bearing press tool with the 90.3 bushings then? Nevertheless, it's a fantastic video, straight to the point and super informative! That's as cool as cucumber!
I have used both methods interchangeably! But you're right probably better using the bushings with the RRP tool - or any Park headset / BB press tool - they have a thinner spindle so work fine with the bushings.
I'm not sure I would have bought my Canyon if I had known that the battery was where it was...Very few bikes shops in my area and it looks like quite the DIY job with specialized tools. Fingers crossed that my battery lasts many years
What model year is your Endurace bike? I'm not sure if my Endurace from 2019 has a Shimano BT-DN100 battery or not and I really want to add a W-WU111 or EW-WU101 wireless unit to my bike. But I would like to not have to remove my BB just to check the model of my battery...

@@ejbrg5234 you can pull on the cables once you remove the cover at the bottom. The hole is big enough to pull the cables through and connect the EW-WU111. Just did it last week on my 2019 endurace.
Hi - this blow my mind, as I just got my Endurace last month.... and from what I just saw Canyon turns a simple thing into an surgery ;) Maybe you have a better idea what I should do, as I only want to transfer Bluetooth EW-WU111 adapter from my previous Di2 bike. Where should I mount it than...? Thanks Tom
@@solidstream13 I removed cup, pulled cable with tweezers, plugged in BT with short cable into circuit and... done :) Really easy job. It's just very tight there :)
Hi, I know this is a few years after your video but hopefully you are still reading comments. My Endurace has 14000miles and I'm getting around 500 miles per charge so OK. However I can only think as time goes on it'll decrease. My question is do you really have to remove a bottom bracket cup to get battery out? Is there no way battery will be accessible without doing this? Thanks. Edit : I just checked by removing the little cover at bottom and yep I've answered my own question! What a crap design!
@lingMan OK, the time has come so I've done it. Removed old one and just installed new battery although it seems it arrived completely flat so I'm having to charge it before I reassemble bottom bracket and cranks etc just to make sure it works. I see someone else asked this but I was also wondering about using grease on shell. I just contacted Canyon and they said quote "some bike shops use Loctite but not grease". Well I'm definitely not using Loctite as be a nightmare to remove again! I think I'll use thin smear of grease just to aid pushing in. Oh err missus. Anyway, brilliant video so many thanks.
Interesting, I've got Canyon as well. My bike is 2.5 years old, I've done around the same mileage as you, and I'm experiencing some weird problems. My front derailleur is struggling to shift on bigger chainring. It looks like it does not have enough power to shift up... I assume it's the battery. How long is battery lifespan anyway?
Have you checked the front derailleur adjustment? I'm not sure how long the battery should last - guess it will depend on use. My guess would be a 2-3 years on average.

It just needs to go in-line to the junction box. IIRC you'll need an additonal short Di2 cable.

I don`'t have the 2 screws on the bottom of my bike, does it mean I cant install a di2 groupset? I would like to upgrade.
Your bike does need to be setup for Di2 really.

for the BB pressfit u reuse or putting the new one?
You only need to remove one cup and if you knock it out carefully you can reuse it.
