What holds it back is the sealed scroll. How do we miss this? In the Greek, the restrainer can be in 'it'. What releases it is when Jesus breaks the seals, Revelation 6--the whole chapter.
I love Ricks reaching but That Day is clearly referring to coming of the lord. If you read 2 Thess chapter 1 into 2 absolutely can be zero confusion that day is coming of the Lord. I believe Rapture happens at coming of the Lord before wrath

Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. Is says that day will not come until the man of lawlessness is revealed.
The Holy Spirit is the restrainer, and He lives in every believer. While the Holy Spirit has the power, we have the _authority_ to direct that power via prayer. When all the believers (who wield that Holy Spirit power and authority) are caught up, the _restraints_ will be removed. Nothing will be holding the Antichrist back because those who did through prayer will have been rescued by God.
We believers are the salt and light so when were gone things start to deteriorate. The Holy Spirit is omnipresent and will be left so there will be more tribulation saints who will be converted but with much persecution. Blessings!

Referring to the Lord’s Day, the Second Coming of Christ, which is separate from the rapture.
