Fun, I think you two could pull off a setup of sitting on haystacks outside and it would still be cool! I'm currently reading: The Martian, Slewfoot, and Throne of Glass. I recently finished Circe (OMG LOVE), The Assassin's Blade, and Weyward.

@@GoodBooksLately I did like The Assassin's Blade. I like Sarah J. Maas's writing style, so that helps. After reading the ACOTAR series, I wanted to read more. With the Throne of Glass series, I read that it's best to start with The Assassin's Blade first, so I did. Now I'm looking forward to reading the series and see how TAB ties into the series.

Love the couch - it contributed to the cozy vibe. Love the provocative quotes as well - lots to think about there... Have you tried Jack Whyte's Dream of Eagles series? If you love the whole King Arthur thing, you may love this series. The series is written from the perspective of Merlin, through the fall of the Roman empire. It is written in a manner that feels more like a plausible historical fiction than an fantasy. I loved that about it, because it made me feel like the legend was real. The first book in this series is called, The Skystone. It has been about 25 - 30 years since I read this series, but there are things about it that still come back to me. Thank you for your recommendations. Have a wonderful day!

Vita Nostra is one of my all time favorite. It's so wild and amazing. Unfortunately Sergey died the last year but before dying they had written the following of Vita Nostra. Here in France they are translating it and I'm soooo looking forward to read it. I'm so happy you are enjoying the experience and you've explained it very well! 😍 PS the two books that already exist and follow are very different from Vita Nostra at the point you can read them as a stand alone. There are new protagonists and locations. I've read the 3th one and didn't like it. The actual following of Vita Nostra will be the 4th in the series.

It is very much historical fiction but closely based on a true story. Highly recommend! The only negative is the book cover I found it to be kind of cheesy and I wouldn’t have picked it up if weren’t recommended.

I feel like I'm putting my guard down faster with her knowing that we are starting in on a longer relationship than previous characters that were part of a one-off. I'm curious, do you have this similar feeling about getting to know characters?

I did not like Vita Nostra. It's certainly hard to put down but it was overly provocative and you need some mental gymnastics to see why overly descriptive things that ultimately have no meaning were made to seem profound. The weird sex stuff had no purpose either whether it was the grooming at the beginning or the stuff at the school. Certainly a lot of people enjoy the weirdness and absurdity that absolutely makes you think but it didn't work for me. Interested what you think about the ending and if you might continue the series?
