Jets had two 1st rounders- Their SMARTEST move in years was using one of those 1st round picks for a top tackle to take care of their QB. If they had just done that for Darnold, history might have been different.

The idea that GMs want a limited number of picks is absurd. Loading picks gives you flexibility to target who you want in the draft and through trades.

Colin’s “argument”: it’s no big deal if Aaron Rodgers leaves as long as Jordan Love turns out to be almost as good as Patrick Mahomes.
Huge difference between “Jordan Love can play” and “Jordan Love is as good as Rodgers”. There’s a reason why Zimmer likes Rodgers, he’s an exceptional challenge.

I’ve been a chargers fan for 20 years. I’ve never seen the front office attack our o line like this before. They upgraded 4 positions on the line, and added depth and a blocking TE in the draft. That’s how you support a young qb, herbie won’t be luck 2.0

There is no way Denver is going to give up three 1st round picks and jerry jeudy for Rodgers.
The Browns have had the best offseason hands-down. Not only have they addressed all of their defensive needs in the draft as well as free agency, but they improved their run defense by adding Clowney, too. People can say what they want about Clowney, but he’s a three-time Pro Bowler and an effective run stopper. If the Browns are going to get past the Ravens, they’re going to have to at least contain their running game, which has been the best in the league during the past two seasons. Adding Clowney helps them do that not to mention their significant upgrades in their secondary.

The decision facing the board of directors for Green Bay is, will we have an easier time finding a QB as good as Aaron Rodgers or a GM as good as good as the one we have. Seeing as how the GM they have made worse draft picks than an average fifth grader would I think the decision is simple.

Sorry Colin, but I don’t see the Broncos trading three first rounders AND Jerry Jeudy for Aaron Rodgers. They’ll want to hang onto Jeudy. Taking away a weapon that Rodgers needs to be successful is counterproductive and counterintuitive.

I think that Colin has totally nailed the Rodgers-Packers issue. If Love can play, it's not a problem to trade Rodgers. If not, then Gutenkunst will be in the unemployment line with Ryan Pace of the Bears.

I dont know why this is so difficult for some people to grasp: any decision can be evaluated in the moment, after the fact, and long after the fact - that's how choices are made! Has Colin never... gone shopping for example.
You can evaluate the draft based on how teams handled themselves, the choices they made in the moment, based the information about and potential of the players drafted, and likelihood that that will address their weaknesses and to what degree. And then you can evaluate- in hindsight- how that draft materialized on the field, or didn't materialize on the field... it's really not that complicated of a concept.

I appreciate grades based, not on accurate projections, but good process. You can't project a lot of things, such as injury or overachievement. But if you target good value picks that match need, it's a "good draft."
