Quick and dirty glue Test for a handful of adhesives I found at the local Mr. DIY (like harbor freight minus the tools)
If anyone cares to know more, just comment and I can add details to this description.

3M PR40 works excellent
P = Plastic
R = Rubber
40 = viscosity I believe
I worked at a tire shop in the 80’s. Throughout the 3+ decades since then, I’ve continued my quest at figuring out a way to perform a successful and permanent repair of a perfectly useable tire if only it didn’t have a punctured sidewall. Tire guys don’t tell you they can’t fix that tiny nail hole in the sidewall of your tire just because they don’t feel like doing it, they honestly as well as legally can’t fix it. But I finally found the solution that I’ve used on many tires sidewalls with 100% success. 3m PR40 is unparalleled in permanently adhering rubber to rubber. Even if this lengthy editorial helps only one person out there then it was a worthwhile effort lol

Best glue for rubber is 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Make sure rubber is scuffed then cleaned with acrysol, acetone or lacquer thinner before applying glue. Needs to dry over night. Comes in yellow or black. I used this in the automotive industry.
3M would have you pay a $12 for a glue when, in the end, cyanoacrylate gel works great 😓
(See next video)
Scuffed how?
3M PR40 is by far better than anything you tried; like not even close. There's no point in even doing these tests if you're not going to listen and actually try out what works.
Dont forget w contact cement you have to glue both sides and let dry before sticking it together !!!
Bro.. By FAR the best for rubber is PR40 (or PR100, or PR600, etc.. The higher the number, the thicker the glue is). But just look up videos with PRxx glues-- people are gluing on strips of rubber to bald go kart tires and it does NOT come off at all, even while doing burnouts. Next would be basic "Contact Cement" (NOT rubber cement), but contact cement. "Rubber cement' is soft and pliable, just like all of the glues in this video; they are made for the ability to flex, like a silicone. but PR40 or Contact Cement are both made for a PERMANANT bond. Get those two for sure. Also, if you just search for "PR40 vs" -- it will pop up a few other very strong glue's for you to try, if you wanted to make another video.
YOU HAVE TO SAND RUBBER BEFORE GLUEING. YOU HAVE TO PUT GLUE ON BOUTH ELEMENTS AND LET THEM BREATH THAN STICK THEM TOGETHER AND APART TILL THEY CREATE MINI HAIR THAN QUICKLEY PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER AND PUT MUCH MORE PREASHURE THAN ONLY BATTERY AND IT NEED TO BE HELD IN WARM PLACE. CHEERS.
OKAY THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!
we tried that already...failed
I've used super glue to stick rubber, but you need to rough up the surfaces first. I used a dremel with the sanding wheel. Then clamp or apply pressure and leave it for an hour.
Does it work on rubber cement
Same. Just did some super glue after sanding with a rougher grit, but it isn’t an item that will be shuffled around too much.
I’m curious about using something like Me. Hobby cement as well to melt the top layers, but don’t want to destroy anything just to try it out.
.../... , and clean everything with acetone or rubbing alcohol ! Learn your facts .
I have used two-part epoxy resin glue it works well on rubber
I've had success with ThreeBond synthetic rubber adhesive 1521B. I stuck a flap of inner tube to a cooking pot with holes drilled in the bottom, and used it as a tool for lifting water out of holes in the ground. Held up for all 30 holes totally filled with water and I still have it. Still stuck on there.
Use barge contect cement, and before you put a adhesive on the surface, you must prep the surface scratch or use sand paper
Did anyone use a tire patch kit as a kid? it came with a metal abrasive scruffer and contact glue.
Thank you. Seems obvious, why is this not included in the test?
😆 Yes of cause ! I'm about to try an Evo stik product called "Sticks Like Sh*h" on a larger area, good to -40 & 100 degrees it's worked on everything I've used it with so far 😁
Advanced Crazy Glue works on rubber and is waterproof and shock resistant.
So what happened?
Superglue. INSTANT Vulcanization.
Isn’t the rubber already vulcanized?
apparently super glue is supposed to work. (cyanoacrylate glue)
You should have provide a summary chart of all your tests. I'm wasted all these time with not conclusion.
I'd say cement glue.
is this the type adhesive use on rubber pads to hide screws and stay sticky enough to reuse it a couple times before wears out?
I got a rip in my 26×4 inch ebike tire n i been trying to patch it
With gorilla duck tape n guerilla glue i patched many things, i tired this on my tire, i put a piece of tape in the middle n one piece of tape on each side of middle tape after middle tape n glue dried, i used 3 pieces of tape on rubber tire cause i knew it was going to be a hard hold cause i was riding my ebike on dirt roads in forest also, sometimes in rain n off dirt roads in forest with no road
It held for awhile then in like 4 months i noticed the tape coming off, some weeks i didnt ride it during this time, i dont know when it started coming off until i saw it one day, at first it seemed it was on there good after checking it the first few days n it looked like it would last n hold good, but one day in december i noticed it coming off, it came off so much one day i just ripped the rest off n when i did some of glue stuck to the tube n i got a flat, i forgot to put something on inside of tire where rip was so middle tape wont glue to tube, so now i had to fix tube also
I tried E6000 next on tire patch with a piece of bicycle inner tube as the patch, i put paper towels over pieces of metal over patch n clamped it n let sit for like 2 days, but didnt hold n i was able to pull it off
Can you do one on silicone to fabric like Duck Cloth?
I think you haven't read the glue manufacture guidance. 🤔
your surfaces are too smooth, i think if you added some markings to the runner they’d probably work better
Need to scratch both sides with sandpaper and wait to glue get dry then u can connect two surfaces
what the good glue for bladder kitesurfing
Coming here to check which glue fits to apply on my project.
And found the answer not from your selfy video which lack of the focus but from the other comment.
BTW... Your application on the rubber SHOULD APPLY ON THE WHOLE CONTACTED SURFACE rather sporadic few point.
your video didn't touch the process of your experiment without clear introduction about how long you have done the experiment.....
Use puncture repair glue?
I have been trying to find a glue that works on rubber including Gorilla glue and nothing so far has worked.
I had to do another round. here's the result. superglue works! just use generous amounts. ruclips.net/video/WyM9JtRZuvc/видео.html
Try contact cement
Contact Cement.. but even better is PR40
did you try using pvc glue? i think that's like a quimical vulcanization, bc the pvc glue Weld the pvc in a quimical reaction, may work, can you try and tell me? pleeease i have
that doubt, or at least try it please and write me a coment uwu
cyanoacrylate works! gel style is good for rubber. but you must use it generously. ruclips.net/video/WyM9JtRZuvc/видео.html
That looks to be polyethylene which is a plastic, not rubber. You’d have better luck super gluing those pieces together.
Loctite 401
Dont waste money on anything else
Looking for glue to stick my rubber boots, any recommendations?
In the end, a gel-based super glue worked best. Make sure you clean it and apply fairly generously.
@@davidmalawey much thanks for reply
Wrong. Pr40, Pr100, Pr600, or contact cement WORKS.. this crap he's using will absolutely fail on boots.
legend
I need to know how to do neoprene to PVC
PR40 is your best glue you can do. (made by 3M
Sand the rubber, noob.
What number of sand paper will do?
@@carlovelasco6343 None, it won't work
Its good in theory to put tracks for the glue to hold onto, via sand paper, file, or small knife, but most of the time shoe glue is the only glue that works
Bro please tell me about best adhesive for joint tractor tyre cut joint
