One on my TBR is the war that saved my life, it’s following Ada and she’s shipped away from her ( abusive ) mother because of the war, and she and her brother live in a whole new town, new caretaker, and things like that, i’m about halfway in and I need to finish it!
Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk is a highly highly recommend, it’s got autumn/winter and mystery vibes. But if you’re looking for a spring/summer read her other book Beyond the Bright Sea Is another highly recommend. And hello from South Africa, it’s weird how it’s turning into autumn over here while you guys are looking forward to summer 😂
Hey, I love South Africa, my son is from there and I loved the part of the country we were able to see! The good thing about our opposite seasons is visiting in our winter and your summer! 😊 I'm one of the few people that didn't like Wolf Hollow, but I'll see if I can get my hands on Beyond the Bright Sea.
@@ChantelReadsAllDay That’s so cool! Your son comes from a beautiful country, now lives in another beautiful country, ANDDD is homeschooled as well, he’s really lucky. I’m glad he ended up with such great parents. Too bad you didn’t like Wolf Hollow, hope you like Beyond the Bright Sea!
The Barren Grounds was so intriguing, but I never finished! I’ll have to get it out again. I’m SO excited to continue The Lockwood series. I may use one with “skull” in it for your body part prompt! 😂
Thank you for the recommendations. I hopped over to Amazon quickly while still watching, just purchased "Until Tomorrow Mr.Marsworth" for 77% off (hardcover) making it it just over $4 (U.S.)!..thought I'd mention it.
I love Myrtle Hardcastle. ❤️ i enjoy the footnotes, which are quite helpful at times. I do occasionally have to look up a Victorian Era reference for clarification though. Alone was a good read that I would put on the older middle grade end of the spectrum as well for a few situations the main character experiences. Great recommendations!
So fun! I enjoyed Scourge as well! Have you read Words on Fire by her? That was one of my favorites from last year.. it is historical fiction about book banning.
I need to finally get to Premeditated Myrtle in March. And I just picked up York at a library book sale on Thursday, so I may need to pick that one up soon. Two middle grades I would recommend are D:A Tale of Two Worlds (even more so if you like Dickens or are familiar with his works) and The Camelot Spell by Laura Anne Gilman if you like Arthurian retellings.
So many good sounding books 😀. I'm in the middle of a trilogy by Rita Williams-Garcia, the first book is called One Crazy Summer and so far I'm really enjoying it.
My recommendations are : Wink by Rob Harrell, a funny story about a boy with a rare eye cancer... Orion Lost (the best space Sci-fi I have read), Bob by Wendy Mass is a sweet story about memory and friendship with fantasy elements, The girl who sailed the stars by Matilda Woods is also beautifully written, The one and only Ivan of course, Letters from Cuba by Ruth Behar about a polish Jewish girl who seeks refuge in Cuba from the Nazi's, is beautiful and taught me historical things I didn't know about my country..

Yes, I read Words on Fire about two years ago and really liked it!
The third City Spies book just came out this month and is really good. I think you would also like The Length of a String.
I love Middle Grade thanks for the recs. BTW you remind me of Charlie from Supernatural
Haha, that's not the first time I've heard that, I've never watched the show.

Okay, I'm going to request those from the library!
Until tomorrow was my first middle grade book. It certainly won’t be my last. This was a wonderful book.

I've read Bob and The One and Only Ivan but I'll have to check those others out!
Adding The Scourge to my list...
Yes, I think you'd like it!
I read the York trilogy last year. I thought it was incredible.
Have you read Mark of the Thief by Jennifer. A. Nielsen? Those look pretty cool.
No, but I should give them a try!
Alone is a post-apocalyptic novel in verse..
Any book by Jamie Summers. She's a lovely writer.
