Fun facts: Safari land is right next door to the original Portillo's. The Nike missile that was stationed at that park is now on display at the Villa Park VFW. Thanks for documenting our suburbs!
I have lived in Illinois for my entire life, 33 years, and have never visited Chicago. It has always been on my bucket list to visit. Thank you for showing us around Chicago and the suburbs. I learned a lot. Stay safe and have fun.
What an amazing vlog Adam! I actually grew up in Naperville Illinois area myself. You pointed out some things I've actually missed out when I lived in town or maybe something I haven't seen in a very long time. If you're staying around the burbs longer make your way to Wheaton Illinois and check out the smallest popcorn and candy shop that's been there for over a hundred years. Also fun fact the Belushi brothers were born and raised in Wheaton Illinois as well. Thanks for the memories Adam!
Adam, you are showing me places I will never visit and I love it! I am disabled, no foot, no car so I am stuck watching the world through videos. Thanks so much!
Awesome. I grew up in Cicero and we went to the Olympic theater all the time. It was a beautiful old theater. I remember seeing the original Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and got a souvenir golden ticket. Your videos are very enjoyable. Your hard work shows. Safe travels.
Thank you your vlog is one of a kind. I replayed you laughing with Mr. Lincoln several times fun video. Thank you for sharing all the locations you visit. I feel like I am traveling to places I would never would of thought to visit .🙂
HEY ATW...ZOMBIE DAD, GIANT BBQs AND LAUGHING LINCOLN!?!! So many things to take in today, my mind is having a data overload! You always film the most awesome and interesting mind boggling items that are just crying to be documented for Posterity. Everything was so unusual that I have had to watch today's episode several times to let it all sink in. Thanks ATW, you are truly the master at what you do! You're not just getting older, you are getting better!
I thought about shingles when the wind gusts were so high and figured building roofs were in jeopardy. And then you showed a bunch of shingles torn from a roof! I enjoyed this video Adam and Abraham Lincoln laughing hard call me and tribute to Dr. Seuss , Elk, elephants and giraffes, just name it and it’s celebrated there! Very cool city and windy too! Thank you Adam my first trip to Chicago outskirts👍🏻🇺🇸
Here I am in the Chicago suburbs having stumbled upon your excellent Warner Bros. studio tour video this morning, clicked on your profile and it turns out you’re in town right now. Enjoy your visit!
The "live" elks in Elk Grove are indeed out pretty much most of the year. The hide in the very back of their enclosure alot when they want to sleep. We pass by that spinning tower alot on Touhy, it's radar for O'Hare.
This absolutely made my day. 🤣 Love it when you were talking to the statues . Such great content. Never been there but looks like an interesting place to visit. Looking fwd to more videos of your adventures. 😊
I can handle the cold 🥶 but, the wind not as much. It's windy here in Scranton Pa too. I didn't realize there was so much to do in Chicago before. Thanks for showing me around. I'm glad you're having a great time and, stay safe out there. Say hello to Abraham for me. Please do another update on the stickers and pins. I'm still patiently waiting for mine.
How crazy - I had no idea you were blogging two blocks from my house! And in a few months, I'll be moving to your neck of the woods. It's a Small World after all!
You were in my hometown! If you were looking for the real elk, you need to go to the Busse Woods forest preserve on Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road (route 72). They are in a fenced in area and come out by the fence almost daily. While you're in the area, be sure to hit Lou Malnatis and get a good Chicago deep dish and some cheddar cubes!
Adam it looks like you were out and about on our 50 mph wind gust day! Loved the tour. I found out things I never knew! Another cool thing is seeing so many fellow Illinoisans on your channel!
Damnit man! I can't believe you were in Addison. For 17 years I've worked about 1 minute away from Safari Land and that photo cube turned drive thru cigarette cube. I pass them both twice, daily on my to and from work. Oh and those elk in Elk Grove are out year round. Usually on Arlington Heights road and Higgins. They don't do much though. Just kinda lay there or slowly walk around. I'm keeping an eye out for an Adam sighting that's for sure.
It drives me crazy when people place adverbs and adjectives in the wrong sequence of a sentence. Thank you soooo much for correcting yourself when you catch yourself doing this! My dad is from Illinois and he would grill us when we didn’t speak properly. That still sticks with me today after decades of his teachings. Glad to see you on the road again. Safe travels Adam.
Yes, Thursday had a high wind warning. Man, I wish I knew you were around my area. Granted, Elmwood Park is way north of me. I'm closer to Midway Airport. Yes, you pronounced Berwyn right. Lived in northern Illinois all my life (44 yrs old) and I've only seen the elk in Elk Grove village once. My husband has a funny story about that.
I live near Detroit (in Michigan for those outside of the US) and it was crazy windy yesterday as well. I think they said some gusts could get up to 55mph.
Hi Adam! Nice little adventure. Thanks, as usual, for taking us along. I received my stickers and pins yesterday, I was so excited! Thank you so much. Looking forward to the back roads adventures coming up! Stay safe and have fun!
I used to read Dick Tracey in the comic strips in the Madera Tribune. It seems like forever now, but that statue brings back memories of over 50 years ago.
While in the Chicago Land area , A great trip for you would be to travel to Woodstock Ill , the town where "Ground Hog Day" was filmed ! I Enjoy your video's !
I hope you’re enjoying your time in Chicago!!! I love my city!!! I wish I could’ve met you while you’re here. You are my absolute favorite creator here. I’ve been watching you for years.
Those spherical buildings are the Amico Oil Co. and the large open field next to it was the location of the American Airlines Flight 191 crash. If you go down about a mile or so on Touhy Avenue to Lake Opeka, there is a memorial for the victims. I grew up in Des Plaines and my dad worked at O'hare when it happened.
Omg Adam you came to my town Addison funny!!! I use to work across the street from safari land in Villa Park, il and that parking lot where the Portillo's is, is where the original Dog House ran by the Portillo's Founder Dick Portillo
Hey Adam, you know that you're in John Hughes territory. Would be great to see you do some filming locations from his iconic movies. Maybe Ferris Bueller combined with Sixteen Candles, and top it off with a trip to the Home Alone house
My, you really put the miles on that day! It's really cool to finally see you roam through territory I actually know. In fact, you were even in my hometown, the one with the large Weber grill. Can't wait to see where you go next that I know. Also, if I may make the suggestion. Sit in the left field bleachers. You'll be glad you did.
Fun to see those obscure things around us. Loved the brick road in front of ZOMBIE DAD. The brickwork around the windows on THE MAJESTIC BUILDING was beautiful. Really enjoyed the video...especially the stories behind the views.thank you
FYI Chicago isn't nicknamed the windy city because of the weather or velocity of wind......it pertains to politicians back in the day and present day for that matter blowing alot of hot air aka wind as politicians so often do
Catching up on your Chicago vlogs Adam. I sure hope you delve deep into the culture and ride the El Train haha. I rode it as a kid to Wrigley . My mom was a bit overwhelmed by the big city. Quite the experience. We did get to see Harry Caray sing take me out twice in the same game. It was a super long extra innings game.
If you're hitting the sox v rays game at some point, highly recommend a rainbow cone or slice of beggars pizza. One of the best ballparks for food options. Otherwise, the original rainbow cone store on the southside is a unique treat
Welcome to Chicago! You should check out the Volo Car Museum and the Woodstock Square (where Groundhog Day was filmed and Orson Welles grew up and was in his first play).
Adam, while you are in the land of Lincoln you should drop by the city of Alton. That is the home of the tallest medically verified human in history. He was Robert Pershing Wadlow and stood 8 ft, 11.1 inches tall when last measured at the age of 22. Sadly, he died at that age. There is high probability that he was still growing when he died and likely would have surpassed 9 feet if he had lived longer.
So awesome to see you in my neck of the woods. I went to Safari Land in Villa Park many times and also home to first Portillos. Check out Volo Auto Museum if you can. Woodstock for Groundhog Day filming locations. They also have Dick Tracy history and a mural. Of course you got the Home Alone house and all the other Chicago based films from that area. Bueller? lol Have fun!
Adam, In 1893, Charles A. Dana, an editor of the “New York Sun,” published an editorial calling Chicago a “windy city.” He did so in reference to the city’s full-of-hot air politicians who were advocating and wooing organizers to hold the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in the city instead of in New York.
Glad to see you’re in my neck of the woods! That parking lot you were in with the drive-in tobacco store is the very same parking lot the first Portillos “Dog House” resided. Also right across the street from those elk statues is one of the greatest sandwich spots in Chicagoland called Rammy’s Sub Contractors - a real hidden gem. Welcome to Chicago and enjoy the rest of your stay!
That's what I've read but I wasn't alive back then but I have had long time Villa Park residents tell me it was on St. Charles Road. In my time there was only one Portillos that was on North Ave and Glen Ellyn road. Across from Venture, Now Menards.
@@TheDailyWoo 🔥Adam you are a man of your word...received my packet today and will wear and display them proudly!...I’m sure you were overwhelmed with this task...But Thank You for fulfilling your promise 👍🏻

Cool ADAM...we lived in Naperville for 5 years...great town...got very pricey. ST Charles & Batavia are very cool and historic also. One of the oldest BURGER KING is in downtown Naperville also.

I was curious as to what Abe Lincoln could be laughing at as depicted in that statue, so it led me on a goog search to find jokes that Lincoln might have told in his lifetime. I realize now I can't post links here, but I just read a short book just now from Illinois State library archives/ Lincoln was a funny, witty guy, who understood the need for levity even in times of grave seriousness, and maybe that's also what made him such a natural and great leader. :) cheers
As a Chicagoian we were taught The Windy City got it's name because Chicago wanted to host 1893 World's Fair. Chicago sent their committee to the fair organizers and began telling them why Chicago would be the best place to hold The World's Columbian Exposition. Hi Adam the Woo. What a great vlog. Thank you for letting us join you. That wind was wicked. 🌬 Pleaee be safe & continue to have fun.💕

Adam the stickers and buttons arrived. Thank you.
You should go to Volo Illinois and check out the Volo auto museum. I will love it. Movie cars and such and antique mall.
This was an excellent video!! Really enjoyed it!!
This was really good!
Good morning Adam. Been watching your posts for years. It’s my 50th birthday today(14 April). Keep up the great work

Very Good ! who in the world knew? thanks for the tour...that sculpture on the porch looks so real , bet it keeps some people away
There is also an urban myth that Chicago was nicknamed the Windy City after its long- winded politicians!
Not an urban myth, just fact.
I'm sorry it's so cold in Chicago but thank you for coming to our wonderful beautiful city of Chicago have a beautiful Easter
Looked up Zombie Dad and your video came up second in search engine GREAT JOB. Great video!
Been to Chicago many times, all of that was new to me . Im an Art and sculpture fan and enjoy the adventures . Thanks ATW.
Yes Really enjoyed todays show......thanks
Loved the Abe statue smiling and other rare finds.
Fascinating video. But you had me cracking up over the father of Naperville! Ha ha! Thanks for sharing another place I've never been. I appreciate it!
