    Appreciate all these videos like everyone's been saying can't believe this is actually such a big thing
    Going on day 2 of training tomorrow for Amazon in Pontiac mi pretty nervous but I assume it won't be too bad if I can get the organization down I guess it's not all about being quick as hell low and slow wins the race some say in my terms meaning take my time mentally and the rest will come in play
    I will definitely be trying all the methods I've watched and trying to implement a way of my own that helps me adapt
    Plus side is I'll stay physically fit doing this

The hrs are weird. 10:30 am to 9:30 pm. 4 days. But just google the Amazon DSP of westhampton beach and your gonna see some internal problems. 😮😮😮😮. Do it.

    i started working for amazon DSP in Mckinney, TX, back in November. I'm with a contractor that's less then 5 months old. So far working with them hasn't been that stressful despite being the peak season, but that may be because i have been getting mostly nursery routes. On my ride-along, i was with the team leader who had 150+ stops. Yes, it is physically tiring and i recently have stopped taking breaks unless i need to use bathroom at a nearby gas station, but so far, it hasn't been that bad. I've been doing mostly country routes in north Texas, and one of the annoying things about it is the fact that you sometimes have to back out of the long driveway as your only option, and that can be challenging if you're driving either Amazon prime Transit or Promaster. Nearly all of our vans of some sort of minor damage, mostly from tree branches. So do y'all's fleet mostly consist of Prime vans or do you sometimes have to drive white rental vans? and what is the tip for getting through standard routes efficiently? and is it common for Amazon to reduce routes for certain DSPs after peak season? because experiencing that right now.

    • @krisp35
      @krisp35  2 года назад +4

      My main tip: pace yourself. Don't sprint to every door. You will drain yourself fast. Unless you're able to do that. I find that pacing myself (power walking to the front door and back gets my routes done the quickest ( strange, I know) and efficiently. Every new bag, clear the bag out. Put all packages you can fit up front next to you. Know where your packages are, for your next stop, before getting to that next stop. Since peak is over, our routes have gotten back to normal. Although I had 193 stops on Monday with 277 packages, I did get done in 7 hours. Yesterday was lighter. We do use white vans as well as the orange rentals. Hope this helps!

    • @hision97
      @hision97 2 года назад +1

      @@krisp35 thank you for your tips! Yes I have actually been clearing out bags for each new bag, by putting all the small and envelop items in the front passenger seat while the boxes on the shelves (if I’m driving a Prime van) or if I’m on white rental van (since they don’t have shelves), I place them either on top of another unopened bag or leave them in the bag itself. I’ll have to remember to just speed walk instead of sprinting all the time. Wow 180+ is a lot, haven’t got there yet though. If I get apartment routes in the future, how would I be able to navigate through them, especially if it’s one of those modern style buildings?

    • @krisp35
      @krisp35  2 года назад +3

      @Sion Lee You're very welcome. I am glad they are helpful! With apartments, I feel all it takes is just doing them over and over to eventually get down your own system for them. They can be tricky and sometimes frustrating, but the more you do the same apartment buildings, the easier they become. Always check your itinerary, too. In case you have an apartment right next to the one you're at, but not grouped. You don't want to end up leaving that spot just to go right back to it.

  • @renspecs
    @renspecs Год назад +1

    I'm normally in a step van, but when I'm placed in a Mercedes or Dodge cargo van, what I'll do is when it's time to sort the next bag, I'll push my passenger side seat forward as far as it will go and use that seat to place my boxes on. Then I'll place the envelopes between the seats and use my igloo cooler as a wall between the seats so the envelopes don't slide to the back of the van. That saves time and eliminates me from having to step to the back of the van to find my packages. They're already right in front with me.

    • @krisp35
      @krisp35  Год назад

      I put my packages up front with me too. I use a bin, a storage bin type. It def saves time!

    Considering switching from being a usps carrier to amazon dsp driver for the flexibility while I finish college. I love being a carrier but there is zero flexibility unless you have a good (and I mean good) amount of seniority.
    Besides, I’m practically an amazon driver. 🤪 Those blue tiny spur packages annoy tf out of me, they come in by the pallets filled to the top nothing but spurs every single day on top of fedex, ups, dhl, and usps packages. Oh and then the 70+lb packages amazon will drop off expecting it to fit in our LLVs.
    I imagine driving in a van makes things easier.

      @LennonMedeiros Год назад +3

      @@fireman62truck Well, each DSP offer they own benefits so you gotta check with them first before you join them. I really enjoyed the job because I like driving around and exploring new places, but I hated All the pressure to finish up the doubt within 5 hours. Also there’s a camera and the mentor app that’s gonna catch anything wrong you do a while you’re driving so you gotta make sure you maintain your points at 830 ~ 850 (it’s easy to keep that in order) and the last point is there’s no much to grow over there. Driver is a driver… I think the max you can reach is dispatch or supervisor but it depends. My overall is: if it’s your first job take that as a school, learn how to build responsibility and stuff and never give up on your goals. For me as an immigrant, that helped me a lot with the language and the American ways (customer service culture). I wish you the best in this journey. Don’t get discouraged. Just go and learn as much as you can. God bless you 🙏

      We go to the warehouse to get our vans. The days route sheet says your name, your route number, your van number and your loading area.
      Get your van, dispatch will call everyone's name and we go to the loading station one by one. In the case of my warehouse. There are 4 lanes. A warehouse worker tells me which lane to use. Then we roll up. And we go to the loading area you're assigned. Your flex app also tells you your loading area. Then we load up our vans. Easy.

The only thing done for you is your tote bags and overflow are loaded onto carts for you to go get and wheel back to your van and then load. The packges are labeled with yellow stickers that can be used for organizing. Also, they load the bags by address, so,, one bag will be full of packages for say 1 or 2 streets of houses.

      @@ballplaya96x67 the packages are sorted in the totes so each totes has packages for a city block or it could contain packages for one building. it all depends how much packages are there. if your doing house your first totes will contain packages for your first stop all the way to let’s say 15 depending on how many packages each house has or how big they are. each packages has a yellow sticker with letter and numbers this is the driver aid on your stop you will see those letters and numbers on your scanner telling you which package to grab. lot of drivers use this method and they also use the driver aid to sort the packages in sequence. i on the other hand is old school i empty the whole bag having the shipping label face upwards because my eyes are used to looking at the home address and not a bunch of random numbers that the system prints out.

Will you get fired for drinking water or for stopping to pee?

    • @krisp35
      @krisp35  11 месяцев назад +1

      Fired for drinking water would be like, illegal lol. No. You can drink gallons of water if you need it. When you have to use the restroom, you find one, and stop to use it. No problem there. If you got hired part-time, I don't believe you'd get to choose when you want to work. Might as well do flex if that's what you're looking for.

      Don't he nervous. Because if your nervous you may mess up. It's so easy. And the lady who did my driving test was so chill, it was easy to feel confident and comfortable. It's super simple. Put your seat belt on, check your mirrors and all of that. It's those little things people tend to forget because they are too anxious to get the actually test started lol

      Most of the vans are shockingly front wheel drive, I don't know if that changes anything for you but it might help you estimate the way it drives better. Like a big understeering lug, just be careful and take your time its EZ you got this. Just drive it like any other large vehicle. Respect the mass of it.
