BIG DISCLAIMER: if you or someone you know is struggling, please get help. this video is my personal experience and any advice I've given should be taken with a grain of salt - I am NOT a mental health professional.
if you or anyone you know is in immediate danger, call 911 or the appropriate emergency services.
this video was extremely difficult for me to film, harder to edit, and harder yet to post. please be kind and gentle when watching and potentially leaving a comment. I am stable and working to get better, as I hope anyone struggling with anything will do. you are important and worth it; you matter. this video was really requested, which is why I'm sharing it, but I hope nobody takes this as me seeking attention; that is very seldom what anyone asking for help (or in this case sharing their story) is looking for. be gentle and kind to others as well as yourselves. thank you for watching and supporting me🖤

I have anxiety, OCD and intrusive thoughts along with several other things like Autism and ADHD. Thankfully I never acted out on my thoughts, but I sometimes question if I might in the future. So I am always reading and writing about my mental health just in case, and currently I am seeing both a psychiatrist and a therapist. But although so far I don’t have depression, I am always alert about if something happens in my life that pushes me over the edge.

tbh i think the key to getting through those 'relapses' is not to think of them as relapses at all. just because you still have 'bad' thoughts doesn't mean you're headed down a sure path to somewhere dark. it just means you struggle with depression! i've found changing the language helps a lot. ex: instead of "i want to kill myself" thinking "i want to go to bed". or instead of "i'm relapsing" thinking "i'm working hard to cope as best as i can". or instead of "i am depressed" thinking "sometimes i struggle with depression". it's not inaccurate, just reframing so depression isn't distorting things in its favor. depression and anxiety are master deceivers.

To anyone struggling with mental illness, the trick to CURING it is to completely obessesed with overcoming it. Always think "what can I do right now to improve my mental illness." And then take the actions that youre inspired to take or think will help you. That is the most effective tool for transformation, I've found.
