It’s not like anyone expects the 3 of them to rap on par with actual idol rappers. Dami’s rap was quintessentially iconic and had an amazing ear worm quality. Jisoo, Solar and Somi had only ever had vocal parts up to this point so they stand out in that specific way - the surprise for fans

For those who didn't know: Solar first wanted to be a rapper but she debuted as a singer instead. She taught Moonbyul how to rap 💕
And Moonbyul audition for singing but force to be a rapper. And they have the right to show off their Vocal talent to our face

Hwa Sa was slated to be the original rapper of the group. And, yes, she and Solar taught Moonbyul how to rap.
The company decided to make Moonbyul, who had trained as a vocalist and wanted to be a vocalist, the rapper. They felt she had the weakest vocals in the group and they thought she would be over shadowed by the rest of the group. There's also the fact the Solar and Hwa Sa were such good vocalists they thought having either them be the rapper just didn't make sense.

Dami!!! That boca rap is what made Dami my bias before I really even stated delving into DreamCatcher about a month after that release. And Solar, MC Dukk,one of the best main vocalist I’m KPop can also rap- face: Solar helped Moonbyul learn how to rap before their debut when Byul had to switch from vocals to rap.
But honestly I'm in love with dami in this coz when I heard her boca's rap and specially that paradox* one slays it's outta control nothing to say.

Rapping isn't only about speed you know. It is also about flow and just because it is a bit slow doesn't mean it ins't rapping. Rapping can be in every speed but it's definitely Rapping and not singing. You can clearly make the difference between the tone Jisoo uses when singing and in the pretty savage rap.

Mamamoo is a vocal focused group, they truly are among the very best in that area.
They are below average in dancing and rapping but got notably better in dancing in the last couple of years.
