This was way easier than I thought it would be. I had RAID 5, popped out the old 3TB, swapped in a new (for me) 4TB and voila - no more flashing orange light or message and drive started rebuilding... thanks for putting my mind at ease in this simple video!
Hey buddy, first of all, thank you for the how-to, very helpfull! Just a quick question. I have a Dell R820 with raid 6, but I dont configured the raid with hot swap. I can follow this procedure that you showed or I need to made the replacement and rebuild via PERC BIOS?
Bro if you have RAID configured on your server you can just pull the failing disk and replace.check this out bro it ihas more details. ruclips.net/video/5rxFxmH7JDs/видео.htmlsi=52qoQpNS_kb5aqgq
Hi bro. I have server Dell R730 use Raid1 .I shutdown server and replace disk. After that i restart , will server automatic rebuild or not bro? Thanks !
@@iwanderworkar Because, I want to shutdown the server to move to another location. Then after replacing the failed disk, restart the server, server rebuild automatically, or do you have to configure anything else?

Yes. With the right raid configuration, you can replace the drive in less than a minute and it will rebuild automatically..thanks

You can replace the failed hdd or sas immediately and add another one which you will need to configure via openmanage software to be a hotspare.
@@iwanderworkar Tkx a lot dude! =)

No need to restart bro..if you configured raid 1 then it should rebuild the raid after replacing the damaged sas drive.

@@lehuynh3496 it will rebuild automatically once you replace it
@@iwanderworkar thanks bro!
@@iwanderworkar how about if im using ssd bro? it can be?
Dumb question… does the server need to be powered off?
No.just replace the failed hdd..it will work as long as your sever is configured in raid
@@iwanderworkar
what if i power off the server? is it still okay to replace hdd? even i configured any type of raid?
I recommend raid5 or raid 10 ..for me these 2 are the safest raid
It works with sata ssd 2.5 drives? is hot swap?
Its hot swap..the controller doesnt support sata ..but 2.5 hdd is supported
It uses 2.5 or 3.5 SAS drives, not sata
You can uae either as long as the capacity is the same with members of the raid.
If it raid 5, is it also rebuild automatically?
Yes bro
@@iwanderworkar tq bro
