Exo is more rnb + vocal type of a group if it's not your cup of tea maybe you should try lay's solo works. I think it would fit you since you like obsession and monster type of songs
Not everyone has a good taste. Exo is quality. If you are looking for a more popular group there may be, but if you are really looking for quality I don't think anyone can beat exo, exo is quality. Bts performed in America while the American president aka donald trump deliberately came to Korea to see EXO perform live. Exo is very classy. Exo is vocal kings and no one can argue with that❤
No matter who your faves are in kpop trust and believe every single one of them knows this song and knows the choreo. This is probably the most covered kpop song of all time. New groups and trainees literally practice this all the time, and every year there are multiple groups that cover it despite it being a 13 year old song. Totally understandable if you dont vibe with it, it just means you dont like amazing vocals and creative choreo 😂 some people are tone deaf that’s alright we understand not everyone has good taste 😊
The performance version of EXO's "Growl" is a one-take video, which means that it was shot all in one take without any cuts or edits. However, although it is a one-take video, this does not mean they used the very first take, it just means that every time anyone made a mistake, they had to start all over again from the very beginning. While filming this MV they had to dance the choreography about 7 times and this was the take the director and producer decided to use. They actually danced this choreography for the filming of this MV until they physically could not do it anymore. But not even this take was technically "perfect." If you notice, Kai (EXO's main dancer) drops the hat in the middle of the dance in the Korean version and he smoothly bends down and picks it up. (The stealing of the hat is actually part of the choreography.) As you saw, Kai needed the hat at the end. But because it was done so effortlessly that most people don't even notice the mistake, or assume it's just part of the choreography, the director and editors decided to use this footage anyway. And if you watch the Mandarin version, if you look closely, you will see Suho (EXO's leader) steps on Sehun's foot and Sehun (EXO's youngest member, a main rapper and dancer) swats him as if to say, "hey, watch out.". :D. Fun fact: Those aren't just suits that they are wearing. Those are individualized school uniforms. The unaltered versions would be what Korean students would wear when attending school. What makes EXO's uniforms special is that no two uniforms were the same, each member has their own version. (Although school uniforms have been the norm for most girl groups as a concept since the beginning, EXO was one of the very first boy groups to use the concept in their MVs. And after "Growl" was released, almost all boy groups that came after them have had at least one MV where they wore school uniforms as part of the concept for the song.) In the beginning of the performance MV, they start out by showing 6 of the members, and as the camera spins around, we see the other 6 members. In the Korean version, we see the EXO-K (Korean) members featured first in the two groups, and if you watch the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) version, you will see the EXO-M members featured more prominently. (Anything that takes place before 2014, you will see all 12 original members involved.) However, what is even more impressive about "Growl", is the fact that they filmed 4 versions of the "Growl" MV, so not only did they have to perfect the dance in the Korean performance version, but they also had to do it again in the Mandarin version and then again in both the 2nd MV versions. And it wasn't like they could use the same footage, because the Korean and Mandarin versions aren't exactly the same -- the EXO-M and EXO-K members had different parts in each of the MVs -- so that just adds another element to this. EXO actually filmed 5 different videos for the song "Growl." There is still one more video that was released as part of their "Wolf" and "Growl" promotions. There is a drama video that combines their two songs "Growl" and "Wolf" and it's like a mini K-drama that is more like a movie or TV show with a complete story and the members playing characters. Here is a link to the full "Growl" and "Wolf" drama version, ruclips.net/video/sFCvZUSnuus/видео.html. Plus, there are several iconic live performances of "Growl" as well.
If you notice, the camera movements are actually part of the choreography, because the camera is another character in the performance. Just like in EXO's "Wolf" and "Call Me Baby" MVs, etc., the camera is supposed to represent the girl that they are singing to. So that is why they are looking at the camera so intensely because they are trying to get the girl's attention. They are each trying to impress her with their moves. If you look up the English translation of the lyrics you will see that EXO are pretty much acting like a wolf or beast that can no longer control themselves around the girl, and they are warning her to be careful because all she does is make them want to growl and grab her and possess her, etc. "I’m warning you just in case (listen carefully) It’s dangerous now (so dangerous) Stop provoking me (there’s going to be trouble) I don’t even know myself ... My breath keeps on stopping You walk towards me You smile at me Maybe you’re attracted to me too .... A dark shadow has woken up inside of me Sparks fly in my eyes as I look at you Everyone step away from her (step away) It’s going to get fierce from now on I’m growling, growling, growling I’m growling, growling, growling I’m growling, growling, growling If you don’t back away then I don’t care if you get hurt ..." etc. EXO got so good at this choreography that they were able to perform the whole thing live on award shows and music programs just like they did in the MV, all while singing live as well. You should also check out their Beauty and Beast performance at the 2013 MAMA awards to see how impressive they perform the full "Growl" choreography live, ruclips.net/video/ycql_T6Fc9c/видео.html. "Growl" and their one-take performance is what launched EXO into superstardom and it's what made them the most popular group in Korea. It's one of the reasons why the government has given EXO the title of Korea's national boy group. However, "Growl" came out in 2013, about a year after EXO debuted, and up until that point EXO wasn't very well known or popular. When they first debuted, many people called them "SM's biggest mistake." Because the concept of them being aliens from Planet Exo and the fact that they were designed specifically to debut in both Korea and China and several foreign Chinese members were chosen specifically to make up their own sub-unit, etc., many people had a hard time understanding how EXO would ever be successful. The group started out being branded as SM's first failure, and they thought Lee SooMan (the founder of SM) was crazy for coming up with the group. But when the one-take video for "Growl" was released, everyone began to take notice. This video was pretty groundbreaking, no group had done a one take video quite like this and it proved to the mainstream audiences that SM really did know what they were doing. Now everyone in Korea and around the world knows EXO and they have become one of the most popular groups that are one of the biggest money-makers for SM. "Growl" has become what they are most known for. "Growl" is nicknamed South Korea's second national anthem, so you may start to notice that you hear it used everywhere. It's played all over the place and is used as background music, etc. in a lot of things. It's one of EXO's biggest hits. It wasn't just popular back then, it's still very popular now. "Growl" is one of the most covered songs by trainees and rookies and it is used on almost every trainee survival reality competition, etc. I'm sure you've heard this song and didn't even realize it at the time. You pretty much can't be a fan of Kpop and not have heard "Growl" before. It's one of the most popular Kpop songs to exist. EXO even performed this song, along with their song "Power," at the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in 2018, and both songs were Olympic theme songs that could be heard at venues and events throughout the games that year. EXO was the only Kpop group to be asked to perform at the Olympics that year, which just goes to show you how influential and popular they have become.
Oh i see why that's the reaction. These guys are used to sub par vocals, autotune, and lipsyncing. Cant blame them tho, the payola is really working to force these people to get used to it. Bang really did ruin Kpop music industry's music quality. Tsk
Wow, fortunately I saw your comment, it turns out that reaction was like that. Well, I didn't want to watch their reaction, to be honest, I was also surprised why they prioritize popularity over quality. In fact, Exo is very qualified in terms of vocals, appearance and even their talents. Maybe they don't really prioritize skills. Their vocals only care about popularity. In fact, it's very clear that Hybe's agency likes to copy and paste SM concepts. Hybe is very obsessed with EXO.
@@Kyungsoo26 yep, their EXO obsession even has proofs! Lol. There are even a lot of convos that werent exposed last year. I'm so intrigued but not surprised with the kinds of cheating they did just to make thier groups famous. That man really ruined Kpop. And these gullible people thought bangtans are the best of the bests when the fact is their talents esp the vocals are some the weakest in Kpop industry, yet these fans and the members act so high and mighty.
EXO's are legends, one of the best kpop groups out there especially when it comes to vocals. I wouldnt call it "cringy" because i think "unique" is the more fitted word.
Maybe cringy wasn't the right word to choose, that was just the one that came to mind first. Since we're obviously not fluent In English. But It was good enough to test the waters & see how EXO Fans react to that. And we will never fake a reaction or say something we don't mean. I wasn't talking about their vocals when I said that, everyone In the Industry knows their vocals are top tier. I was mire like pointing out their "dance performance/attitude/expressions In front of the camera" you can see that they we're still a new group. I (Kev) come from mainly watching their Monster, Tempo, Obsession, Love Shot MV's and In my eyes they just reached a whole different level during these times (comparatively to Growl of course)
@KevSefMusicReactswell growl was released in 2013 it's more like a concept and era thing to act like that infront of the cameras. But now they've grown up and shows the more mature side. Exo is more of an rnb, vocal type op group so you won't be able to find many rap based songs( but their b sides are on another level). i think tvxq would fit you more or 4th gen groups like stray kids. And if you haven't check out drop out yet go and watch the live ver it on another level
😂😂😂this is BTS fan channel. Probably not realised that this uniform look was copied by BTS & teased by the industry in always following EXO. Growl is still performed today by younger idols as it literally unofficial national anthem of Korea. As well opening up China & other markets. Perhaps EXO killing voice is not really their thing. After all the bench mark is a rap line trying to sing with autotune. EXO were never rookies - they like most SM grps performed live
Can we praise a group without bringing down another one? I get that youre frustrated about their reaction especially when they called them "cringy". But the fandom earns bad reputation from people like you. You bring up something irrelevant over a decade ago which are all false and are mere allegations. BTS and EXO are friends and good colleagues towards eachother, lets not take it too far.
@ i have watched enough of their reactions to know what is their right to be fans of BTS. They were requested to react to EXO Growl. The min expectation is not praise but- good points/bad points & opinion. I watched a recent one on tempo & they explained why rap was not 4 them. Which is fair. So when EXO-Ls post their review ask for Killing voice - why?. These Reactors are not interested in vocals, dance, presence. They wanted subtitles. That was my review of their review. Simple. As for plagiarism it is not irrelevant as the uniform was the first in a line of clear evidence.
I agree with that aswell, they shouldnt watch EXO if its not their cup of tea, As for the BTS one. I dont think the uniforms are limited only to EXO. BTS dressed like that because at that time they had a album called "SKOOL LUV AFFAIR" which is a school boy concept. It was mere allegations and were never really proven as true. BTS denied it themselves and i dont think EXO were bothered by it. If it truly was a bother, Jimin and Kai wouldnt have been friends. So is Taehyung and Baekhyun.
This is why fan wars are still happening. It's 2025! Can we please leave the past in the past? Can we please praise a group without bringing another down?

How do you guys feel about EXO & the song?^^
They're legendary. They debuted in 2012. Started with 12 but 3 left in 2014 - 2015. So now they are 9, 8 Koreans and 1 Chinese.
one of the best kpop groups in gen 3 with amazing and top level live vocals
EXO's vocals and thier discography are the breath of fresh air in the cookie cutter filled Kpop music industry.
