Florida man captures enormous, 13-foot alligator in Orlando

- A Florida man is celebrating an historic catch: the second-heaviest alligator on record. A 13 foot, 3 ¼ inch behemoth weighed in at 920 pounds. Kevin Brotz led the hunt. He says reeling the gator in was scary.

The point is population control. Either they overpopulate and eat each other or get hit on roads and cause accidents, or you let a limited number of people hunt them and both the alligator population and humans benefit. Hunters do more for conservation than any other organization combined.

Also, we keep invading wild animal territory and building in that territory. There are most likely way more of them than there are of us. We humans have no room to complain about species overpopulating. If the gators eat each other, then that’s only between the gators. We humans need to worry about ourselves and leave the wild animals alone as long as they’re not bothering us or threatening us in any way.

Why kill it though? How would they like it if someone hunted, killed and hung a family member on a pole just for existing? I get hunting for food or kill an animal that hurt your loved ones, but to kill for sport is just demonic. I can’t rock with it. It’s stupid.
it is good for the species when the bigger ones are hunted. This allows younger, smaller males to mate and survive to grow bigger and better for species diversity.

This alligator was a threat to EVERY Single creature that went near the water. There is no man nor animal on the north or south American continents that could survive a close range attack from an alligator of that size.

I have no idea why they would give this story any publicity?? I’m definitely a believer in controlling populations of dangerous animals BUT there are humane ways to do that. This is just sick as hell. They literally killed it slowly. They are living creatures. They feel pain and fear the same as we do. This shouldn’t be celebrated in any way shape or form. Been in Florida 43 years ..on rivers and lakes. Seen thousands and thousands of them Swam around them.. The ones that get this big and old is because they stay away from humans.

Alligator attacks in Florida are completely miniscule and usually because someone fed it. That's the death of a gator..if you feed it.
If you like eating gator tail.. which I occasionally do.. you can EASILY buy farm raised and nuisance gator meat just about anywhere here in central Florida.

The fine people who give kayak tours, I only know about the everglades, like to point out where the big alligators rest and hangout. The alligators just leave the kayaks alone. I don't know about the Orlando area, but in the everglades the alligators help control the invasive python population that is reeking havoc on its ecosystem. The flavor of the above story is bizarre. Taking pride in killing other things is not right. I know sometimes to control animal populations it is necessary to kill off a certain amount of a given species for their own good, and for our own good. Taking joy out of killing such magnificent animal just strikes me as being very wrong.
What a disgusting and shameful display of stupidity. Why end this life, could have been taken to a sanctuary for all to see, ahould not be allowed to kill this magnificent beast , a connection to the past😢

We have over a MILLION gators taking over the waterways in Florida. They are getting so brazen and aggressive. Coming into subdivisions and attacking people and pets. It’s NECESSARY to hunt them.
