- A growing rift within the Israeli government over the governance of Gaza after the war has become a 'colossal game of chicken' between rival factions who are each waiting for the other to make a mistake, according to Israeli political commentator Dr Ori Goldberg. He spoke with France 24's Mark Owen and said that Israelis have trouble articulating a critique of Netanyahu's management of the war and that as long as the war continues, Netanyahu continues to be safe in power.

Some of those killed on October 7th were in the military. That doesn’t justify their deaths however it is very important that the news is accurately reported.
Something else to note, all Israeli citizens serve in the army, making all citizens soldiers.
The Palestinians support Hamas to build a Sharia state. This means that they don't accept people who are different from them.
Also, all Israelis (except the Palestinians with Israeli citizenship including Palestinian Jews) are invaders - not civilians.

There’s about 12% ultra orthodox, about 50% of women don’t serve in the military. Another Haaretz reports says that only 40% of men and 33%. The exemptions of arab and ultra orthodox citizens is a serious issue since their demographic is the fastest growing due to higher birth rates.

Most "soldiers" killed were not in army duty. They were just of military age. So they were indeed civilians.

Correction - Hamas killed just under 1200 Israeli citizens but one third of those were soldiers as Hamas attacked military bases first.

It was 1200 civilians. There were 300 and some soldiers and there were a small number of non Israels.
There was an interview on AJ with an Israeli woman saying the IDF were using tanks to shoot into their homes thinking “the enemy” was in there. They also said IDF fired at some of the festival goers accidentally.

Why did Israeli intelligence allow that concert to go ahead when they were well aware of the pending situation? Why did the IDF open fire on Israeli civilians?
@@thompjackson well I had a silly theory on that. The Israelis living in the area that was attacked are known to be more liberal than the government, and so a lot of them did not have issues with Palestinians. So if the government knew there was a possibility of the attack around that area………..

Dr Ori Goldberg you are the voice of sanity. It was a great analysis and I wish more such an educated, central oriented approach would be presented in the media. Although the situation is hard we need more people who tell facts without emotions about what is happening, what can be done and what should be done so all that suffering won't repeat itself in the future.

The IDF is renowned for its above-average cases of friendly fire in the field (this is true even without the consideration of their 'Hannibal Directive'). Centuries of military analyses have concluded there to be a direct correlation between friendly fire incidents and troops with heightened levels of fear/anxiety, poor discipline and situational awareness, and a zealous disregard for life. Everyone suffers (themselves included) for the IDF's general ineptitude.
Ive trained with these guys. Extremely overated and even though most were in good shape, most didn't have an athletic bone in their body. Most of my guys were already trained in American Mixed Martial Arts and that Krav Maga stuff wasn't working on us and remember they were frustrated.
