I think an important point that was missed in the video is that the movement should complement the music rather than just randomly chosen out of the blue. Taking the idea of "texture" for example, if the music is fast and choppy, don't do slow, flowing, gentle movements. Let the music guide you.

I dance contemporary and lyrical and we have improv competitions at my dance class and if you stop dancing you are out. You are not allowed to repeat a dance move. Since watching this, my confidence has really been boosted.❤❤ Tysm

Also there are improvbattles on youtube where they dance to a specific prompt. You can take a lot of inspriartion from there and also training for telling a story trough dancing. And you can take those prompts or think of something similar for yourself!

I have more auditions tomorrow and am expecting more improv and I want to know what is something I could do to prepare. A quick Google search and I found this video. When they tell you to improvise, do you do it with or without the music? I think it's a lot easier without, because you can create your own rhythm and story.
Could you please do some Modern or Lyrical. I do Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Musical theatre classes. But as something to do at home I would love to learn lyrical or maybe Modern. I am only new so if you could say any video links that would be very helpful. Thanks for helping me with my improv.

With the element I did fire and thought its sharp, aggressive, deadly so I pushed out my elbow pressed it in and extended my whole arm I was happy with that haha
