Ikr, I mean songs like "When I come around" are nice and chill to listen to but they're a bit basic and safe, this one is more diverse in pace and even the clip is more interesting and original (imo)
I disagree, if my friend that only listens to only God's Favorite Band knows this song, it's not underrated. But, Hitchin a Ride among one of my favorites.
@@tanooks9408 American Idiot exposed the social issues at the time, especially Jesus of Suburbia. Yes it contained some pop punk but it was generally punk rock
I played this song at my school’s guitar club performance last week! It was my first show in years so I was terrified, yet somehow, when I was introduced to the audience, I turned into a rock star! And after the first verse ended and transitioned into the pre-chorus, the crowd went fucking wild!
My Dad had always loved this band so I’ve been a fan since I was born I’m 24 now and I finally got to see them live in Manchester for the saviours tour I surprised my Dad with the tickets in November but passed away from cancer this January so he couldn’t make it but I wore one of my Dad’s red ties so he could see them and there was a double rainbow I knew he was there these guys got me through it
You're doing it right. I'm 56, parents been gone 16 years. I take a small jar of their ashes to every concert, vacation, family event, etc. Never stop keeping them close, they're never gone. Much love to you. ❤
You were condescending, and still are. No one should not know longview? What about people who don't like it? Not everyone shares the same goddamn opinion.
When I was in grade school, my parents let me go to the music store every month to get 1 album. I bought Nimrod by Green Day because I heard their other music on the radio (Boulevard, Holiday, and Basket Case) I listened to the whole album, I LOVED IT! My favourites on the album were and still are Hitchin’ a Ride, Nice Guys Finish Last, and Redundant. Green Day has been one of my favourite bands for years on end!
I am The Law, great now I have to go listen to Brain Stew. I was supposed to meet my mate an hour ago, I'm just sat here listening to Green Day still not even got a shirt on 😂
One of the most underrated Green Day songs in my opinion. A nice, slow burn song with an amazing finish, a music video with an amazing roaring 20s theme, and from one of my favorite Green Day albums.
They played this song at the 2024 live concert in Milan, it was fucking awesome. Now even my colleagues at work are loving it, blasted in the goddamn office.
God this music video is awesome idk how more people aren’t talking about how cool it is. It’s so psychedelically nightmarish and creepy like something you would see if you were brought into a 1920’s freak show it’s so tense and straight up weird. This is what I live for in videos
Green Day means a lot to me because it makes me think of my older brothers, I like to remember when I was young and they would put on Hitchin' A Ride on the stereo and we would bop our heads to the music, Childhood
Dude this song is absolutely amazing, it’s so catchy and loud and groovy and other synonyms and the fact that this song wasn’t a big hit for them baffles me
This is another example of a song having the same title but different melody and lyrics. At first I thought this was a cover of the Vanity Fair classic!
Hitchin A Ride by Green Day I realize now after enjoying and listening to it multiple years after first hearing it during my teenage years that both the lyrics and music have a dazzling electrical music energy to this song despite some of the somber experiences that Hitchin A Ride touches upon.
Green Day's songs are relatively easy for an intermediate guitar player like myself. Whether it be chords suited for acoustic guitar or power chords on the electric.
I don't think I'd ever seen this music video before. I've been on a real kick lately of heavily diving back into a handful of bands older music, Green Day is one of them. I really like how they pair the style of some of the 1920's dance moves with the beat of this song. like it'd be cool to watch a dance performance of that stuff of the entire song, not just bits here and there.
Still remember the first time I heard this. Was wandering about the shops in London with a girlfriend I was visiting down there and it came on the big screen in the store. Didn't know they had a new album coming out and I'd been a huge fan of Dookie. Loved it instantly. Fond memories!

Green Day has been the most creative of most Pop Punk bands I'd heard back in the day.
Interesting contrast of eras: a 1990's neo punk band dressed in 1950's rockabilly style while the supporting cast is dressed like the 1920's.
