Every time you create a page, you are taking a step towards yourself. That is so beautiful. Thank you for all the tips and suggestions. I'm in a bit of a rut myself, and this is just what the doctor ordered! 🌷
Thank you for this video! I usually don't like a lot of talking. Sometimes people ramble, talk too fast, and never take a breath. You are the complete opposite. You are humorous, sincere, and a pleasure to listen to. I enjoyed your excitement at your old journal. Most of what you said applies to me. Afraid of making mistakes, afraid of using my favorite things, the perfect supplies would motivate me, etc. I have taken lots of notes and am very excited to start my own personal inspiration vault. Thank you for this wonderful insight! ❤
Oh, Brenda, thank you so much for this comment. I almost re-did the video because I was doubting myself. But then I decided to just post it and hope people would resonate with what I was saying. I wanted my video to be honest, simple, and relatable. Your comment and some from other viewers confirm I made the right choice. Thank you, and I'm so happy my video spoke to you. Have a great day! 🌼🤗🌷
This was like junk journal CHURCH! Heck, art in general church. Even though I know all of this stuff by now, it doesn’t hurt to hear it again and study. Very good reminders. I love love love looking at old journals. I agree, some aren’t something I would make today, but it’s still lovely in its own right. I was so excited, and barely had any supplies, and had to be creative. I also love watching my style change over the years. So that’s all we’re doing! Is just recording ourselves at the time. How could that ever be a bad thing, or a waste, if we’re just recording ourselves as we are in that moment? I’ve never made a spread that made me go YUCK, at least not when I look back at it later 😅 So I try to remind myself of that. Anyways thanks for the sermon!! 😋
Ha ha! Oh my goodness, your comment made me giggle. I LOVE IT! Yes, I agree, I've never thought YUCK at one of my pages, but I simply think I've really grown as an artist, and it's endearing to watch ourselves grow in that way. Thank you for your funny and kind comment. Have a super wonderful day! 😊🌼🤗🌷
Oh my goodness LOL too funny. Well you found me now and I have a lot of videos and new ones in the making. Many of them will be about subjects like this one. I hope I'm not too late! 🤣🌷🤗
What a nice video. I think it’s worth hearing all this again. I think I’m in a spot where I feel like I am overwhelmed. I am overwhelmed with the lack of space that I have to properly organize all that I have. I have too many choices and sometimes I just sit and stare into space.😂 Surrounded by too much chaos. I’ve become numb and not getting much creating in. As hard as it is, I need to stop everything and try to get a better organization in this little corner of my room. I’ve been fighting this very thing since I started almost 2 years now. And it hasn’t really allowed me to find my own creative style. Thanks for all the beautiful reminders, I needed them! Hugs ❤️🤗
Hi Tamara, I completely understand. I've been there more times than I care to admit. But, when we clean up and or organize our space, it also can help as we are looking at what we have and feeling inspired to create with the things we are touching and looking at. The only other trap however, is the over-organizing trap where we are si focused on making pur space pretty that we forget why we are doing it. Then we still don't craft LOL. I sure hope you find a way to just sit down, grab a few items and see where they take you. Hugs my friend 🤗❤️🌼
Your video came at the perfect time. I am the one waiting until I get all the craft supplies to start. I know now that I don’t need all that stuff to make great junk journals. Thanks for the kick in the pants lol. 😍🇨🇦
I enjoyed your thoughts. I wanted to offer words for you! That’s from having international friends! “Subtle” I think, was a word you were searching for. Silent “b”! I like your style. I rebelled from the start: I didn’t get the constant inking of pages to “age” them. My response was to edge with purple, gold, and others. It could just be that I have GOBS of vintage books and papers that needed nothing added! I’ll be back for more of you!! 💜. 👋
Hi Jenni 🌞 Thank you. Yes, subtle (silent b 🤭) Sometimes, I could use a translator sitting next to me or even a mime! 🤣 I love reading comments like yours and reading about how others work. You chose colors and I think it's fascinating because you wanted to add colors and you did! You didn't stop yourself because of the vintage style your papers already had. Thank you for being here and for taking the time to comment. 🌷🤗🌼
Thank you for the tutorial this morning. 'Don't wait to create' struck a note. I always feel I have to have the perfect paper and tools to work with. I'm trying to just 'go for it' .
Hello Chantal… I enjoyed your video and your step by step process to create our own junk journal… I will refer to your video in the future so I appreciate the time stamps. I love the concept of using this first journal as a testing place to try new techniques and supplies. Although it wasn’t in a ‘junk journal’ one of the first art journals I ever started in 2017 was a 5”x8” Small Dylusions journal and that’s what I did in it for the most part for a couple of years - some of the pages are color swatches, cleaning off my paint brushes and/or stencils or whatever… it sat unfinished for quite awhile until I went through and finished all the unfinished pages which felt great! I did art journal layouts similar to VickyP from 2016 until now but from Jan-2022 until now I’ve done a LOT of collage in various size formats. I have gotten the Your Creative Studio curated boxes since Jan-2022 and although I’m 3 or 4 months behind in my journal, I do 6 pages per month in an 8”x8” journal (one journal per year) only using the contents of that month’s box… I’ve done additional collage layouts in other books using the supplies. I needed the encouragement of progress not perfection because there are so many times that I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing even though I’ve been already doing it for quite awhile now. You also mentioned overcoming the fear and I could relate to that as well… GREAT VIDEO, CHANTAL… On a side note: I ended up ordering Marta’s 3 sets of Rice Paper from her website and was so excited that her 2 newest collage books were finally released - so excited… I ordered them as soon as I saw them and they should be here tomorrow!!! 🙂 Thanks again for all you do to encourage and inspire! Have a wonderful week!!! ❤️🙂🌻
Thank you, Sue 😊 Wow, so you have more experience than I do! That's great, and I have been tempted by those boxes as well, but I finally decided to keep moving, lol. I have enough stuff (so many pretty shiny things LOL) I'm happy to know you enjoyed the video. I really wanted it to be simple, honest, and relatable. I always love to read your comments. I appreciate that you take the time to do so, and I love getting to know you through them. Have a wonderful day, Sue 😊 🌼🧡
I just found you this morning. Of course I subscribed! I have been doing this since 2022 and it is so addictive. Much of what I use was collected over the years (books, papers, cloth, broken jewelry, buttons) and it makes me feel really good to finally use them up. I will have to do a deep dive into your home page. Thanks.
I am inspired by Nature. All colours are side by side without a thought as are textures. 🥬 While I do not care for too much grunge I do love tea/coffee rings and stains. We need to give ourselves permission to be us and create and go forward. 🌻I love to collect quotes and write them in my two quote journals. Then when I need words I can find a quote that fits the page I have created. I love the excitement when I get Happy Mail and can create with items that I did not purchase.
I feel you are talking just to me. I have all the things and the tools and I just have such a hard time putting all together. I'm doing a very special journal for my daughter with many themes that I've been collecting. I just feel frozen sometimes not knowing how to put these treasures together in an artful way.. c Thanks chantelle for the pep talk
Hi Suzy, I absolutely understand. I'm putting a video out this weekend that also might help with that😉 Thank you for your comment. I'm always happy to see what impact my videos can have. I appreciate it. 😊🌼🌷🧡

I wish I had seen this before I started because last year I thought I had to get this and that. I just got a coffee cup stain stamp😂

@@blackcoffeeandwildflowers 100% this. I am where you are; I have a room full of so many cool tools and beautiful stuff but I am creatively paralyzed.
Great video!! So true, I've been making journals for about 3 years now, too, and don't need all the stuff I thought I would. Start eith what you have❤
Yes exactly and I'm glad you think so too. 😊 We can do a lot with very little (even if new things are always so much fun!)🌼🌷

It's great to read a comment like this! Thank you, and yes, go for it! Make yourself happy!🤗🌷🌼
Thank you for encouraging words to help me to move forward in my journey of journaling.
I'm happy if it helps crafters shake off the fear. It's so much fun to create journals that I wish everyone to just try! 😊🌷
