Great analysis man. I feel like at times you could have slowed down a bit. And overall added more information to certain sections but it made for very enjoyable watch so I'm not complaining. For a first attempt... better than I would have done.
I didn’t fully get some aspects of his backstory in the anime so this helped me understand his character better, we aren’t meant to agree with his schemes but he is a very human character, i really like his role on the story
Really enjoyed the analysis and your voice. My favorite Re:Zero antagonist and you did a good job showing why hes so great. I think you could also have included Roswaal's previous incarnations like Roswaal J in particular, if you've read EX2, 3, and Battle ballad. Not sure if you've read it, but it adds more to the point of him struggling to cast away his emotions, trying to not grow close to others, and strengthening the resolve he ultimately has by Arc 4.

I find Roswell an interesting character during the second story arc in Season 1. He came across as a mysterious character who might know more about Subaru more than we think. Haven't watched season 2 or read the light novels yet as I rely on Re: Zero physical Blue Ray releases. But I am looking forward to be surprised about his back story and why Ram is so attached to him.
So Roswaal's ultimate goal is to defeat the dragon so that Echidna might be reawakened once more? But why made it so that Emilia would rely on Subaru? What does it have anything to do with defeating the dragon? Or did he do it foolishly because he felt that Subaru was too similar to him so he wished to let Subaru have a taste of what he went through?
Roswaal wanted to make Emilia entirely dependent on Subaru as he did not feel she was capable of reaching the throne on her own. Building that dependence was crucial for his success (in his eyes)

@@forcexjr1566 I'm pretty sure its explicitly stated by Roswaal that he doesn't believe Emilia would be able to overcome the trials of the sanctuary. The reason he set up all of those situations in the first place was to earn the support of the people of the sanctuary, but since she couldn't do it on her own in his eyes, the best option for him was to make her entirely dependent on Subaru. To have Subaru forego the trials in her place to earn their support for the Royal Selection

As much as Roswell is an antagonist he is not the villain he pretends to be
He is a human pretending to be devil which makes him a clown
He's not a nice guy though. He's certainly not a sin arcbishop.
