I had this on the game gear when it was all new. Man I loved that thing as a child. It was all so new at the time. Oh man that color screen was amazing.
@@someoneidkwho313 yeah lol but it was hard especially back then. I think it was like the antlion and the balls falling from behind haha. The small screen was the biggest issue lol
If memory serves me correctly, there was a zone in Sonic Chaos that is a remix of this song. Mecha Green Hills Zone to be exact. It is a mashup of the Underground Zone with Green Hills Zone in this game.
The first boss is oddly difficult for a first boss in the Game Gear version. I did learn how to beat it when I saw a video here on RUclips years later.
I'm positive this theme was composed by Masafumi Ogata, who also worked in the Sonic CD JP OST (alongside Naofumi Hataya). This explains why it sounds fantastic.
Hmm, seeing as this game was fully released before the earliest known protoype of Sonic CD ... maybe YCDA is a remix of Sonic 2 8-bit Underground Zone, just with nonsense rap over the top?
This was remixed into a modern version by Tee Lopes & Jun Senoue.
and it rocks

wow, thanks, never knew i needed this
I think mecha green hill song is just a bad future remix of green hills from this game.
@@chaozsheep exactly, and both a version of Toot Toot Sonic Warrior from Sonic CD
Mecha green hill
Mecha Green Hill (no S at the end) was a remix of Green Hills, but no Underground Zone to be found in there.
Playing this while on a treadmill. Makes me feel supersonic.
Play the remix on a treadmill then!

Tails was just kidnapped and Sonic is rushing to save him already
I used to play this level all of the time, when I was in preschool. Something about hearing this makes me happy as fuck
"Underground zone"
>IS IN A MOUNTAIN RANGE
in fairness you do spend most of your time in the mines under that mountain
Heard this so many times till I realized how to properly avoid the balls fighting the Antlion.
The first boss is oddly difficult for a first boss in the Game Gear version. I did learn how to beat it when I saw a video here on RUclips years later.
In love with this song, still mad at the fake out where you almost fall to your death in lava before eggman saves you.
0:13 me quede sin palabras ;-;
This track is forever burned into my brain because of how many times I game overed at the boss.
i do be digging
Idk why but that got in my Head when I did a few underground missions on Mech Warrior 3.
Why is this better than most of the regular Sonic 2 OST?

This is straight up a lie but my Bouncy boy already explained why this track still rocks

This song is recorded so deep in my brain...
The repeating high-pitched melody that starts at 0:12 is the exact same as Aqua Lake
The beginning sounds a little like Vela Nova.
it kinda does

0:39 - is that Sonic 3&K special stage?
Cool
In the Master System version, the final boss could be hard to fight.
In the Game Gear even worse, as the image was cropped for the smaller screen, so way less time to react to the balls.
The Master System boss is nothing. The Game Gear boss is hard as shit.
True frustration ahead.
I swear I've heard this in a King of Fighters game
Oh no why is one eye small and the other huge

Underground Zone - Sonic the Hedgehog 2

i remember the crab level fucking SUCKED
underground zone does not fit for a first level like at all lol it feels more like a 2nd/3rd zone XD
Personally. i find this zone music to be kind of generic. and the zone really isn't that good. but the music still. has that charm. and idk what it is
It probably gives you that edge for a pretty solid (Yet frustrating) experience
