News is that the project just rebooted with a new engine. "On June 23rd, 2014, The Facebook page for Sonic 2 HD announced that they had begun work again on the fan game. The reason for this is the fact that a fan of the project independently created and submitted his own engine to Vincent, for evaluation. After integrating the art assets from the alpha release and successfully testing it, Vincent began to let the rest of the prior team members know, deciding to pick up where they left off save for those who were unavailable due to real life obligations." Tee Lopes revisit it? mystic cave is one of my most favorite vgm's ever. all remixes available on youtube seem to fall short, but I enjoyed this one the most. If you currently have knowledge on how to make it better I eagerly await that release!

If you do revisit this song, keep the drums man. They are so sick and very 89/90' new jack swing. Needs that sickening slap bass from the original. Also while im here, your work on mania was outstanding. PS hugely appreciate you not changing hydrocity save for updated sounds. It manages to simultaneously sound fresh and also exactly the same, its pure magic.

During the… I guess you would call it a course… I noticed the twinkling sound in the background kind of sounds like from Hang Castle or Mystic Mansion (one of those) from Sonic Heroes. I don’t know if I’m remembering wrong, if the stage from Heroes references this stage, or if you are referencing those stages in this remix.
My favorite thing about Tee Lopes is he still uses the tones that worked on genesis but makes the rest of it more in line with modern compositions. Lava Reef zone on mania is a good example of what i mean. The melody piece is jist a higher resolution of the exact same tone.

Sounds less like a remix and more like a reMAKE. It actually keeps the spirit of the original while upping the sound quality in ways I couldn't have _imagined. Very_ nice work.

Yeah, it was cancelled, but it's been brought back. There's an update on their Facebook page from just a month ago.
