5th Floor his Aunt Passed. 9th Floor his son was born. Brings a new meaning to Royce da 5 9.
right. I just thought it was in reference to his height but that's even more significant. powerful
+TH3 L4UGH1NG M4N Grandma*
It was his granny not his aunt, but yes it's interesting to see the significance of the 5'9 now
+TH3 L4UGH1NG M4N BARS! LAYERS!
his grandmother you freak.
One of the most powerful songs I've ever heard
agreed
Official Briante Weber 'joyner lucas I'm sorry'
Official Briante Weber golden state to the hornets lol
Until you hear Power or Cocaine by Royce, both of them take this emotion and raise it. Royce is my dude. Living legend.
absolute
Royce is the most underated emcee ever...
2.1M views? Hell no... This should easily have a billion... People suck for real...
So much love to you royce! Thank you for this song
Royce was always dope

+Jzonqellis Washington Hes one of the few rappers that never has a bad verse imo
is an has been always will br
best song of the year so far
+piotrekzproductions Hell naw
One of em
W
not just that. I think its one of the best songs in hip-hop history. And that's not an exaggeration either
unless Em released a song this year.
This is how you tell a story with rap.
Yup
Sounds like he whining to me
luny tunez don't hate
@@lunytunez3634 stfu
khushwaj Stan’s like you are why people hate on em 😪 and em is my favorite rapper, but that wasn’t what the initial comment was about.
He manages to make you feel exactly like he felt back then...
true
you damn right
+Dieter oficial sau nu i felt intense
Word
exactly
Royce da 5'9 is far too underated. I would think with all of those EM colabs he would be a more well know rapper.
I know right!
it's usually the less-known that are better, not saying he doesn't deserve more fame, he definitely does.
stupid comment anyone that liked em should like royce they're styles are the exact same which is why em was able to rap so well alongside him
em why Their subject matter is totally different but their styles have a lot in common. I wouldn't say they're exactly alike though. That's kinda foolish to say just flat out like that.
actually that response proves ur stupidy. I never said em is the greatest, i said that their styles are the same. grow a brain dumbass
Loss your grandma, your son was born, and you met Marshall...what a powerful day!
He's never gotten the credit like he should, He's a wordsmith's lyricist I'm looking forward to this album on the 15th
amen
+Carlos Clark One of the best there is now, one of the best there's ever been.
word
+Carlos Clark He sounds generic
+dogwondr Future Travis Scott and Migos is generic trap rap bullshit Royce is staying original and raps over better beats then any of these new school drug addict rappers
This is one of the deepest hip hop songs that I have ever heard. I love Shade 45 because I would have never heard this track on any other station. Salute to Royce the 5'9
same
I call it shady xv not 45
+Grape Guy there is a radio station called shade 45. Plus XV is 15
+Grape Guy Shade 45 "radio" radio radio radiooooooo
+Grape Guy clown lol how is xv equal to 45
This album is a classic. Start to finish
How the fuck does this not have more views? He's amazing!
Because he's not using a trap beat and mumbling
MysticUmbreon, maybe cus is shit.
MysticUmbreon cause he is not wearing gay gear...
Because it has substance and actual lyrical technique, so it's not as heavily promoted as the new wave shit
Because he is speaking from the heart and he has bars, flows and great lyrics
this dude been spitting fire for years now...he a true Lyricist in every sense of the word.
Simply one of the greatest songs
Damn. This is amazing Royce.
Marshall was cringe worthy
+FaZe Swan DAYUM didnt expect you to like this kind of music , swan
His storytelling skills is something else 🔥
Crazy thAt this is 7 years ago...let's go brother!!!
Royce might be the most underrated rapper of all time
I think the same
Quite possibly
Yea
True
Tha Imperial you must be great at turning shit back to em for no reason
I was captivated, I could not stop listening and watching.
Wow this video finally has over 1 million view. Should have over 100 million. #REAL
1 billion
Facts*
Silva Army people don't know real music bro 😫
And I just got this in my recommendation now, like WTF!?
Amen
This is real music! Lyricism and story-telling at its best.
Finally no fake ass wann be rap! Spits truth and tells a story. Been a long time since Ive heard rhymes like this.
T R U T H !!!
repeat that again my guy.
This kind of songs should be played on the radio when it comes to rap, not some mumble crap with 0 content and delivery.
Right? And this sounds good too. It’s easy to listen to. Not too aggressive or anything
Humble yourself be thankful for what you have royce da 5'9 made me feel some type of way with this one I wish there was more rappers out that can rap a story like this man can
facts
Goosebumps after every verse.
This song had me in tears. real story telling
Haven't been this excited for an album in a long ass time, can't wait Royce!
one of the most powerful storytelling hip-hop songs of all times and of course one of the greatest in general.
love his ending "EVEN THOUGH HE JUST GOT HERE GOODBYE" its perfect cuz he didn't have a verse in goodbye with slaughterhouse so this is basically his verse.
Royce this shit is beyond dope big bro
I don't know about any of you, but this makes me teary eyed every time I hear it.
What an incredible piece of art.
Damn, Royce never ceases to impress. Been great to see the growth over the years.
+KraftTV i love it when emcees get older the better they are , thats real hip hop
One of the most underrated rappers to ever be in Hip Hop. Amazing story.
Hands down the most powerful hip-hop song I've heard in 10 years
Idk about this man but that's surely a top 3 songs of the decade and a top 15 rap songs ever for me
I would give the most powerful hip hop song of the decade to Life Of A Bandana by Crooked I. The storytelling was perfect, the lyricism was so complex and the song made me immedesimate that much in the story it was telling that when it ended I shed a tear, same thing for Cocaine and this one but life of a bandana gave me a different thing that gave me chills. Tabernacle is still my fav song ever
"...He told his pops, "Go 'head, rest in peace, Daddy, I'ma take care of mama, go 'head and sleep, Daddy,You know I'ma be just like you",Then he picked me up, said,"Now I'm 'bout this Crip life too"😭💔 for me it's POWER of the BookOfRyan
I feel like Book of Ryan came from this song, and I couldn't be happier. This song and all of Book of Ryan solidified Royce as a legend to me. Not a discussion, just my opinion.
Royce can tell a better story than most mainstream MCs and this video hasn't even clocked a million views. Fucking criminal man
thank you
Damn I was 14 when this came out only 1 bumpin this in my school 🔥🔥
been saying this for so long, probably the best lyricist period. This song tells a story in a way that you can visualize it without the video, theres no filler, its not a meaningful line followed up with some generic line " and my chain got so much ice it could blind you " Every lyric is a piece of the story.
Royce is one of those Rapper i can listen to all Day.... He actually raps about something .... If He doesn't it is straight bars..
This has to be the Realist song ive ever heard. you can actually feel his emotions. very powerful. you da man Royce 5'9
👍👍👌👌👌🎊🎊💣💨💨🔥🔥 ROYCE DA 59 TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE
5'9 is the definition of a True MC !!! i still remember listening to his "Rock City" in my teenage period.... Royce is the True King of Detroit !
+thefatalveli1
em
elzhi
royce
+mike Elzhi aint from Detroit.
First time hearing this song and literally starting crying when he said granny didn't make it and his son had been born. The way you tell your story is so powerful. Wow!
The story is touching, so that's where the name "Royce Da 5'9" was derived from 😮
This man paints a picture so well, i didn't even need a video.
Exactly , well said
No matter how many times you hear this, it always manages to blow your mind
This joint made me realize how Dope Royce is. Peace and shout out out to one of the greatest.
Best song ive ever heard in my life. Story telling is the greatest gift
He was one of the reason I fell in love with rap this album is AMAZING
If this doesn't make you feel, you're numb. Best song I've heard in a VERY long time.
real talk
the hits should be in the millions
Genius storytelling.
Jeez... goosebumps when he said, “goodbye”
He just spit his missing Goodbye verse! My life as a Slaughterhouse fan is complete...
Lol fr I didn't see the connection til I went back and listened to welcome to our house, then I realized he wasn't on there. Plus him ending it with "even tho he just got here, goodbye."
+Crime_Alley That was such a deep, heart tugging song. I wanted to hear Royce's side, but it makes sense hoe he did it. I'm pretty sure it was planned out like that. these dudes are super conscious about how they do stuff..
Can someone explain the correlation he makes in the last line and whatever slaughterhouse song or line hes referencing here? I listened to the slaughterhouse song someone mentioned in the comments and still didn't hear it. Clarification would be much appreciated
Asher Bell on the song Goodbye by Slaughterhouse, the other three members tell the stories of the people close to them who have died in hospitals, but Royce doesn't have a verse on it. At then end of each verse, they end it with "even though ___ just got here, goodbye"(the ____ is filled in with either "y'all" or "I" or "you") therefore, this is seen as Royce's verse on that song.
If you ever see this, Ryan. Thank you! You are an inspiration and you definitely inspire me. "I can always improve, you go ahead and be in your prime." That was beautiful OG. You're the truth!
Wow this grade A storytelling and surreal as hell..can't wait for the album
From now on I'm gonna give this song 100000000 more views
And this is why Royce didn't drop a verse on "Goodbye" This is REAL MUSIC!
Why lol
@ANIME ANGELIC STAR I've heard that song a thousand times
WHY doesn't this have more views? I've never heard Royce before, but I am impressed.
omg listen to him there more songs like this Royce is nice Eminem don't rap with just anyone
Kleng Amarth check out his latest freestyles!
You shld definitely listen to BOOM - its CLLAASSIC
Royce is incredible! I really hope this album does well, he deserves it!
This is a classic
Flowers to one of the greatest emcees to ever grace this earth. Salute Royce! 🌹
Floor 5 and 9. His name is Royce Da 5'9. GENIUS
I noticed that, crazy coincidence?
How'd I miss that
Get to my girl, she 5 centimeters dialated so I awaited, she gotta get to bout 9 before it's that time
+Dude What He actually didn't do it to impress or be clever, this is Royce's own words...
"I didn’t realize the symbolism of having my Granny on the 5th floor and my son being born on the 9th floor and my name being Royce da 5’9” until way after. I didn’t think nothing of it, but then when I started writing the song everything is kind of connecting. It gives me chills."
+Dude What He's a genius because of his lyricism. The experience he went through was shocking. I don't think what happened to him was a coincidence. I called him a rap genius cause that's what he is.
Rap ARTIST 🎨
Royce raps on his own planet 🌏
He managed to cover so much in one song it's amazing.
Royce definitely one of the greats and too damn underrated. Keep it up ☝ Royce respect
very true Royce is a high caliber emcee
100% Royce is the Truth
Most underrated rapper of all times
how does this have only like 100,000 views?? this might be the most moving rap song and video released so far in 2016
Couple days late but damn 22 years ago... "God giveth and God take it away... Ryan is getting better with time... Anxiously awaiting the new album...
hez a true story-teller , diamond in the rough
im addict to this song
same
diddo

+Otaku INTHEGOLD which is cool
sure
One of the best album openers i've heard in a looong ass time. Fantastic!!!
Today I came here again because I’ve had a similar situation. My grandma who raised me died and my son was born 2 days after her passing 😢
Still can't believe after all this time, he doesn't get the same recognition as other emcees that are famous .... people just want to hear stupid music.... And here we got Future, 2 chains etc giving it to them.
+Novillty Rap I know it's fucking sad.
Royce is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper...💯🤘🏻💀🤘🏻🧈🧈
This song hits different for me. Thank you for this powerful recollection of your experience
Who's back to this masterpiece in 2020?
💪
No one? Only me? That's fine...
I'm finally soaking it in. Before I wasn't too into it.This song is incredible
Such a shame that this song got only 2m views, royce is a living legend
"walk away feeling like a good father and at the same time a terrible son" that shit got me.IDK why but it hit me.
Bruh watching this being preformed infront of you is a whole different experience... will never forget it. The whole show was amazing. 🍻
I never get sick of this joint this is easily one of the best hip hop videos definitely deserving of a Grammy.
So many quotable bars and a willingness to speak on Christ and real world applications of faith. "...recovering alcoholic, I grew up on 9 mile....Hallelujah, I'm the son of a addict....ain't no denying this is the power of God."
Keep up the good work Royce ! Stay true to yourself. You have a lot of fans in France, better believe that.
I discovered Royce da 5 9 with his song "Boom". I feel he accompanied me throughout my entire adolescence and early adulthood, and I can happily say he's one of the best rappers in history. Respect.
Several rappers rap about real life
This Royce track was absolute FIRE!!!!!
Joy and Pain in the same space at the same time... very rare in life... lil Royce will shine with Grandmothers spirit and wisdom! Amen!!

Чувак выдал историю на оскар. Потрясающая лирика и читка не говоря уже о том что такой круговорот судеб, суметь пережить а потом так филигранно изложить, вообще немыслимо. Респект!
