So interesting. That story got really sad really fast. It’s a great lesson on how across the centuries, human beings are human beings, and family dynamics are at the heart of so many issues that people have in their lives.
I appreciate Sean Hayes a little more now seeing and hearing this story. I absolutely "loved, loved, loved" his performance in W&G. His art was organic, witty, unbridled, and just a breath of fresh air. 😁
This was a lot of BS, he knew who his Grandmother was. Her name was Barbara Hayes. It's really awful how they twist the story around. The picture they show of "Aunt Sallye, who is MY mother. His Grandfather Bill and His Grandmother Barbara.
Sean went full circle .. back to where his family originated from. Must have been nice to stand in Ballylongford knowing this was where it all started many generations before.
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
Stories you should check out finding your roots. African Americans can’t go back very far, but that show does a really incredible job getting info for them and it’s incredibly emotional

This is so amazing to watch. But am I alone when I say I cringe when I see fingers dragged along a document that has original ink? The excitement of the moment I guess.
I think it’s considered best practice just have clean hands as gloves reduce sensation and paper is more likely to be torn. Also, none of the documents shown here are particularly old.
nothing can make patrick francis hayes life seem less tragic but you have company. Fiona Bruce learned that her 2x great grandfather whose family had suffered in the highland clearances died in very similar circumstances.
My great-grandmother's maiden name was Hayes. She was from Texas. From what I could tell when I did a family search, the Hayes name goes even further back, and has French origins (de la Haye). I wonder if there's a distant connection. No idea. It's so hard to say, especially once oceans are crossed and records are either lost or poorly kept and name spellings change, etc.
Very interesting, I am a Hay with Scottish ancestors on my Father's side. The Hay/Hayes/Hays all seem to originate from Normandy and the de la Haye family name. Certainly a strong Scottish connection (where some de la Hayes ended-up after the Norman conquest). Not surprising that the roots go through Scotland/Ireland and all over the world!
+InterestingName oh yes it's fascinating I'd love to trace mine in the North in Cavan (Cootehill) my great grandparents were sextons of the local Catholic Church in Cootehill x

His story is so similar to mine. Its very odd. I'm the baby of 5. My mom worked a lot cuz dad didn't. Dad left at 11 for me, but no relationship&past away in 2014. I had also never seen a pic of my grandmother(his mom. She passed when he was 17) I look just like her. Her twin basically. It's very odd. I love this stuff

Sheffield and Nottingham in the UK have the highest concentration of people called Hayes in the world! Hayes is a sept of Clan Campbell, so Sean can wear the Campbell kilt! The name Hayes was brought to the UK from Normandy in France.
I find it interesting how different this show is when it's produced in America as opposed to Britain. I notice a lot more cuts and edits in the American one. Less context about where the information is coming from and it feels much shorter. I am not knocking the American one per say, but I think i prefer the British style.
@@judithjames5109 I think thats what makes the show...a feeling that you are siding with the person because of the human condition that touches the heartstrings, without real spotlight on the whys and wherefores its just entertainment with a celebrity as the lead character, we dont get to really connect with them..so as a piece of television it just doesn't work very well compared to the British series
I love this man. He has genius comic timing and he is down to earth.
I love Sean Hayes. His comedy has helped me through an incurable disease process. Thanks for making me smile Sean :)

One of the episodes I remember most because of the hidden messages and lessons learnt.
You live what you learn. I guess Sean is the end of the cycle of abuse.
It's crazy how much you can figure out about your own history!

I think he's an incredible man he's so funny he makes life bearable at times I have a son named Sean he's my youngest
I know exactly how he feels and there are no words to describe it. Finding your lost family is wild
He’s completely adorable!
My absolute favorite episode of Who Do Think You Are.
"They all just drank about it" very apt description.
So cool how far back we can look now, love this show!

Sean is amazing! He is so talented and wonderful!
Family dynamics have a way of repeating. We can break the cycle and stop the dysfunction.
Being irish and a huge fan..love his talent..❤❤
Sean has some crazy blue eyes!

If you send in DNA to one of those Testsites you can get a fairly good understanding of where you came from.
Go find out !
@H No Well, the Vikings were the original people who settled in Normandy and became the Normans.
Hayes is a very Cork and Kerry surname
Awww County Kerry same as my aunties family the Devanes mine are from the North in Cavan 🍀🍀🍀🍀 #lovetheirish

So interesting and cool. Love ya Sean Hayes!♥️👍
I LOVE him soooooo much!!
Great story!!!
I did not expect Ireland circa 1870s to emit "dog off leash" fines, and moreover, let's hear more about Trespassing Donkey @4:48
Thank you
Sean is so handsome and talented.
He looks so Irish!
What a story of intergenerational trauma and what today would be called “daddy issues”! Sean seems to have broken the cycle.
My fathers name was Patrick Hayes and also my Grandfather
OMG mine too. I'm in Wales.
Very Common name Hayes
WOW that’s amazing ❤
So talented and carismatic actor. His red hair maybe reveals his irish origin.
We do not all have red hair....I have brunette and dark brown eyes...irish born and breed
An end to cycle of abuse too.
My name is Hayes too.
Mine too
What a sad past
How cool is this…. 👍🏼
Sheffield and Nottingham in the UK have the highest concentration of people called Hayes in the world! Hayes is a sept of Clan Campbell, so Sean can wear the Campbell kilt! The name Hayes was brought to the UK from Normandy in France.
It’s actually a Irish name derived from an Irish God called Aodha
" cruelty and torture towards someone's donkey"!!! what?????🤔😱
I love this show
Sean, why you wonder?...He's Irish !☘️
Go and Explore......
Never tell amybody what relaion you have with us we know in our hart thats enough
He looks great for a man who's 45 or 46 years old.
I am 54, I look younger than he does, just saying.:)
Another way of stating that would be that other people look way too old to be only 45 years old. /wink
He (Sean Hayes) still looks good though.
That's because 45 isn't really that old yet.

Where do you live..the american view is shortchanged I feel
This is because there aren't any adverts on the BBC.
@@judithjames5109 It is also about the better produced show in the UK..as David says the American show seems somewhat lightweight to me
Well the American programme has 15 minutes less that's a lot. Also the BBC'S aim is to educate as well as entertain.

why would anyone want to be irish over english? the mind boggles

I'm more focused on cruelty towards someone's donkey
So
He looks Irish to me
His wife died then he gave up on life. Terrible story.
The thing the with us version of this is most of the participants are immigrants from the uk anyway.
I wanna do this but im pretty sure there is no register for 3rd world countries
Ireland was a third world country in the midst of a genocide famine in the 1800s ,so if they can have records than I'm sure others could
What.cruelty torture.of A donkey
I SAW THAT
Do not yrust him he is pztrike
Total Rubbish! Never has an Irish man been accused of being Drunk and Fighty!!🤣

Why do people care about this crap so much?
and his branch of the family tree is a dead end because he decided to be gay how quaint
No one decides their sexuality. Also, he was one of five children, that is plenty of people to continue a family line.
Good on him, too many people on the planet already.
I'm straight, no children, how quaint 😅
