From what little buffing I've done, you don't need a lot of pressure. Just make sure you have enough rouge on the wheel. We have some large scotchbrite wheels we use at work that are awesome for rough polishing before hitting them with the buffing wheel too. Looks like this will serve you well. Thanks for the review. I might consider one of these for myself.
Just picked one up to polish aluminum and small fasteners. It sure is quiet and looks to be decent quality. I pulled the cover off of the bottom and peeked inside before I plugged it into the wall.
Thanks Kev, I’ve had this buffer for a while, also have a commercial Dayton. I use this HF buffer 9 out of 10 times. It’s much smaller and plenty strong! Enjoy your videos.
I bought this hoping it would double for a buffer but also occasionally throw on a wire wheel for crusty bolts or a 6in grind wheel to sharpen up the lawn mower once a year. I noticed the label though saying not to use grind wheels or any other type without giving a reason. Is this simply because it doesn't have guards or you think the buffer will break? Only using the buffers for now.
Good video thanks. Please remind everybody if you polish a knife blade that folds be very careful how you hold it and where you stand. Keep the point where the wheel can't grab it and spear you with it. Saw a young guy bust his thumb nail up pretty badly after i had warned him
Great job Bro!I like a wider buffing wheel I will sometime buff alum parts for workThey make a bunch of different rouge (polishing compound) Black, brown red, white light green, coarse to fine
The reverse threads actually prevent a person from tightening the nuts at either end simultaneously. So with no shaft lock, how in the heck did you tighten the nuts?
What is your opinion on the $5 buffing pads you bought in addition to what it came with? I can't get the darn things to work on my bench grinder. I think they made the center hole (arbor?) too big, its like 3/4" and I can't get the washers to hug it tight enough to prevent them from working properly. Just wondering if you've had the same issue and if you've found a solution. Thanks!
You need to make a adapter to fit the shaft to the buffer pad, I used a PVC pipe cut to be less than the thickness of the pad and inserted a pipe fitting into the pipe and cut it off flush with the pipe. The hole in the fitting fit over the motor shaft , the pipe fit snugly into the buffing pad, by combining the two pieces they made up difference between the shaft diameter and buffing pad hole. The pipe is about 7/16" long. My adapter centered the pad and it runs smoothly.
I like the machine has anyone tried it on resin to buff out scratches I have issues trying to hand sand so I like this machine to help me polish resin and clay
I am also going to buy one of these, but haven’t been able to decide between the 6 and 8 inch. What made you choose the 6 inch? I don’t know much about buffing wheels. Thanks
This Harbor Freight buffer is made by Central Machinery and comes from 2 different factories in China so it has 2 part numbers, but it's basically identical besides for the cosmetics. The harbor freight SKUs (part #'s) are either 61557 or 94393.

That's a Nice cool looking buffer unit Kevin. I will have to get a conversion kit for my Grinder...as I do like to polish some of my Alloy builds...

Hi, I would like to get one to polish Casio watch faces, and flip phone plastic cases.
Do you think it will work with them?
how do you center the replaced buffing wheels? you have the same ones i do and i cant figure it out
I had no issues do you have the right size Arbor hole?
@@Robinson-Homestead no they are to big but harbor freight says they will work fine and won’t take them back
What kind of grinder do you have and what size is it ?

I would only use it as a buffer.

Thanks HillBilly bro.

Channel locks or pipe wrench on the shaft what work.
@@Robinson-Homestead Thx. That's what I ended up doing just padded the shaft with a rag.
Thanks for this video , I needed to see this before I bought one. Fred
Good tool working great for me thanks for the comment and watching.
I got one too...strong n smooth...no problems here
Great machine thanks for the comment Patch.

I have not used the $5 buffing pads so I can't say thanks for subscribing Anthony and thank you watching my videos.

Would this be too aggressive for guitar polishing?
I think so but not sure.

Not sure how well it works on resin but it works great on steel.
How well has it held up and roughly how many hours have you put on it?
Good bit still working great thanks for the comment
@@Robinson-Homestead thanks for the reply. You should do an update video. I'm sure plenty of people would be interested on how well it's held up.
Looks like you found another toy for your whop. Thanks for sharing!
Shop* lol
Whopper
You were right good buffer and trash the wheels that come with it
Thanks for the comment John.
Great video guy
Thank you MIKE.
Could you put a wire wheel on this?
Sure
@@Robinson-Homestead Then spear everything within 10 feet from wire's flying everywhere. Never use a wire wheel without a guard.
No variable speed?
Know thanks for the comment.

Joe this tool works great as a buffer and reasonable price I didn't know they had a 8".
Can't you use 6 and 8 inch buffs on this?
Can u put grinding wheels on it??
I thing you can.
Time4Clocks yolo
The shafts are a little too long for grinding wheels. You don't want any wobble whole grinding.
Thanks for the review, but could you possibly share the brand name and model number. Thanks.....

With the coupon I would say it is a good buy.
That's for sure.
Wear a mask use dust collection or take it out back it is messy and not good to breathe that stuff. Best regards fellows
Lmao looking at this for polishing firearm parts and accessories great video thanks!
thanks brandon that sounds like a good idea.
My Harbor Freight would not take my 20% coupon.
Wonder why.
Mine didn't either. Bought one today.
I would've hooked you up if you lived in my area, I work for the distrubiton, I get almost 30% off from them lmao
Haomuch
It’s no where near it’s hp rating. None of those cheap Chinese buffers are.
Thank you for the comment works good for me Dave.
Wear safety gear
Good advice thanks for the comment.
