Whenever I see a vlog shot of someone walking away from the camera, I always imagine them turning around and running back to get their camera. I would LOVE if the editors could leave that part in 😂

I remember I was traveling with friends. And we got lost and couldn’t use our maps because data. But then we realized my friend on her iPhone had her setting on that as you take photos it will mark your location, so we kinda used it as a bread crumb trail. We walked backwards to our hotel following the photos she took along the way on the map 😅

I’m so envious of you, Kelsey. In that you’re so independent and practical! We’re a similar age and I can only wish I was as confident and self sufficient. I have no clue when it comes to practical skills/DIY or living on my own and while I’d love to be a lone traveller my anxiety would never allow it. So lovely to see you being care free and enjoying life with your friend. Madrid looks beautiful.
If you want advice, you just have to do it. The more you do it, the more you learn and the more comfortable you get. And the more you find you want to do!
Hi. I would say to start small. Start with one small excursion for 1 day. Overplan it in advance Have extra money in cash, in your shoe plus on a debit card. Make a list of all things you'd like to do and see. Do as little or all on your list. Reward yourself. Plan locations to Stop and have a coffee or a drink; plan places that you can be with people or that you can be a little off from where the main crowd is...Be socially distant but not truly alone until you're comfortable. Grab a friend that wants To explore and explore with a friend that way the 2 of you are each other's backup . Carry a small backpack that has water and a sandwich in case you get caught out in a space that doesn't have any. Enjoy your life.

It's a jacket you can wear when it's still too cold to go without one but already too hot for your winter coat.

This is pretty normal for me in Canada also. I have actually several jackets I use as the season gets colder, a early fall jacket to use just as its starting to get nippy, a late fall/early winter jacket and a deep winter jacket.
In Canada we just call it a fall jacket; the German word might be unique but not the concept...
It's just a jacket in the US. Heavier, for colder weather, is a winter coat.

We say that there are actually 17 different Spains, referring to each autonomous community. You need to go back again and see Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Barcelona, Galicia!!! And much more!

I miss Madrid so much. I used to go every couple of months from the UK but Covid has stopped the travel for now. I WILL return next year. I love the place. The guy with the glasses at the Palace is pretty magical when he does Harry Potter on the glasses!

I love how organized your travel plans were. I just a solo weekend trip to Washington DC earlier this year. It was a blast, but I got very exhausted/drained on the last day bc it was storming (I was using subway & walking 😢) and the restaurant I went to sucked lol. I also dropped my phone in the rain & shattered the screen. And because of covid, I couldn’t talk to any strangers at the bar or hostel even though I was vaccinated. DC was heavily enforcing social distancing. I did research but I also tried to leave plans to do “spontaneous” things. In the end, I wish I planned more. But now I’m determined to do a solo trip every couple of years. It’s very empowering to travel by yourself.

my travel hack is crocs flats. Unless you're going somewhere very cold, you can use them for anything. They're cute enough to go out for dinner, they're comfy enough to walk in all day, and they're waterproof so you can take them in the shower or swimming. I only bring one pair of shoes when I travel and it's crocs

I entered a competition to win free salad for a year from Saladworks and came in second bc I found out the other person was essentially trading votes with other people who enter contests. I'm with you: I never enter contests anymore. Online voting is one of the worst ways to pick winners in contests.
but it's good for the company's publicity, cause sooo many people visit their website to vote and that's all they care about at the end of the day
@@alohadandelion Yeah - I understand WHY they do it - I just don't think they should do it that way. But that's why I don't run a large company ;) I'd want to do things the FAIR way, not the way that generates the most money.

you can open and load maps when you have wifi and if don't completely close the app they stay in there, GPS doesn't need internet, so the little blue dot will still move with you, suuuuuper useful while traveling!

TRAVEL HACK that I used when traveling through Europe on trains: If you ever have to leave your bag somewhere on a train you can't be constantly looking after it, I bought a bike lock and would just lock my bag down so no one could just grab it and go!
I do that too, if my suitcases are not in view- sometimes I also bind two suitcases together if there is no place to lock them on. This is also very very useful if you are in a train with smooth floors and your 4 rolls case just wanders around every curve and stop.

My travel hack...land in early evening, stay up till at least 9 or 10pm. Sleep till morning, no jet lag. Land about 10 or 11 pm at home. Go to bed. No jet lag. Workers for me. Just don't sleep on the plane.
