The factory production process of sugar beet is very different and more complex than sugarcane hence complete new infrastructure or factories will be required to make it commercially viable. Ministry of Agriculture needs to look into this though...large scale cane production is only possible in lower altitude tropical climates, while sugar beet can grow well in temperate higher altitudes climates, e.g. central province, thus encouraging sugar production in the entire country. Word of caution though for large scale applications, planting, harvesting, loading and transportation methods, either manually or with mechanical equipment are ridiculously expensive and surpasses those of sugarcane in price, manpower and equipment maintenance.
