    • @jovetj
      @jovetj Год назад +2

      @@user-mv9tt4st9k Doesn't matter. There was a train very obviously moving towards the crossing. I believe you'll find the law in all 50 states says that the crossing is closed and CANNOT be used. It is the responsibility of everyone using a public or private crossing at grade to be sure the crossing is SAFE to use before proceeding onto and across it. Active warning devices like flashing lights and gates can help, but they do not supplant common sense and situational awareness.
      P.S. It is also illegal, presumably in all 50 states, to proceed past a railroad crossing gate when it is lowering or raising. A lowering or raising gate must be considered as fully lowered, and it is always illegal to drive around a lowered railroad crossing gate. (Many areas permit stopping for JUST flashing lights, and proceeding across if the way is clear, but not all areas allow this.)

    • @kennethhanks6712
      @kennethhanks6712 Год назад +2

      "Unstoppable" definitely a fine Hollywood action/drama and by Hollywood standards not a terrible railroad movie it does still have a number of, shall we say, "artistic licences".
      For example when the locos got ahead of train and tried to stop it by braking why not have had a fireman/conductor/brakeman on board so once connection made could have just gone aboard and stopped engine/applied brakes. Also when the attempting to stop locos derailed and crashed the chances of them not damaging the track and or their coupling not taking the following units along was highly unlikely. Another example near end was the high speed crossing of the curved bridge-if you're going fast enough to raise your wheels off the far rail as shown (with the pipe loads joining the birds) then you are probably going to wind up a substantial mess.
      It may be an older movie, and a European railroad setting in WWII (and also loosely based on true events), "The Train" with Burt Lancaster is excellent and fairly close to more actual railroad realities.

      @@bobsmith9947 The guy had been taking pictures for years. It was a tragic accident never the less. So many take pictures and videos everyday. We the fans of this type of content could be to blame as more views promote the creators to make more videos.

    Sadly in the same state there are poor children who are Darwin candidates because these freight trains park for hours across the only path these kids have to go to school. Kids have to climb over and under these trains to get to school. There are several news stories about this. Hope federal legislation will put a stop to this.

      That's the worst thing ever, since any train could move at any time.

      I can do you one better, I heard a story that BNSF tied a Z train down and left it sit FOR FIVE DAYS, not 5 hours, 5 DAYS! Not surprisingly, the containers were broken into, although I can't recall if they were loaded or not, but still! Not only does block important routes, as you said, but it also opens the door to vandalism as well. It's not the crews' fault, they're only doing what they're told to do!

    Come for the trains. Stay for the raccoons 🦝
    People that were on the #6 through Galesburg, I’d say they took the scenic route and got a preview of the yard
