I looked into him. The person in his YT videos is like a character he created. The dude is an accomplished composer, producer, mix engineer, master engineer and he was in a popular band during the 80's and 90's. He would be way too expensive to hire for the average Joe.
Would love to see a Dr. Mix + Matt Johnson episode. Maybe just the both of you playing in a jam session?

I have no clue about music, I bought a small MIDI controller but haven't learned anything yet. I just come here to listen to groovy music and be cheered up by one of the nicest, most engaging, and coolest YT presenters😁
I have to say: I am very impressed with what Rhodes was able to do with their own instrument. I don't know if I'm going to add this to my arsenal as I've been satisfied with Arturia's take on it. However, I can definitely see this being essential if you *know* you are going for that instrument and want something that will give every bit of nuance and detail.

My go to rhodes is e-Instruments Session Keys Electric R and I really love it, but I will compare it to the V8. From the video V8 seems very "polished" It can be a good think for cleaner takes. COngrats for the video sync, it's fitting perfectly. Thanks for the demo doc

They Should do this a long time ago!!!I clearly say Rhodes is one of my most beloved instruments,among duduk, English horn,Erhu,bassoon,cello and some few other instruments.With rhodes you can use it as a very cool bass, acompany and melody as well.Incredible sound
this plugin sounds like a heavenly melody to my ears. reminds me of phanton regret by jim - the weeknd. such a beautiful instrument.

Wow, the fact that you can customize the voicing makes this plugin amazing. I own two Rhodes suitaceses, but the thought of re-voicing one to just change the sound some sounds like such a pain. The level of adjustments are insane!

I'm trying to think if I've ever heard a Rhodes VST / hardware modeling that sounds better than this. I mean, I daresay, it sounds better than the Nord? Certainly better than my Reface CP, or my Arturia Rhodes VST... I mean, its exciting!
You need to deconstruct the theme song to the 70s TV-show "Taxi"! I just love that theme, and the Rhodes sounds perfect for that theme! 😁👍

Yamaha DX 7 with its electric piano sound did them in during the 80's.
Question: I have the same set up a Fantom eight and now the Rhodes VST.
Would you Midi map the Fantom8 knobs to the roads or use something like nano keys to drive the Rhodes interface?
The Fantom lives in the studio, so I’m leaning towards the nano keys to use with a simple, midi controller on gigs. Your thoughts?

Can you use the full preamp and fx on a DAW FX channel to treat incoming audio? No mention of this anywhere. Would help a decision between V8 Pro and newly released V-Rack version of this instrument (FX only). I have a real rhodes, and Keyscape, but quite fancy having the FX of this instrument, but may as well buy the Pro version if I can use its FX on anything.
Have you checked out the new KORG LIANO 88 Weighted Keyboard just came out has a Rhodes Piano sound I’m blown away by

Thanks for this. Funny that you have a REAL RHODES Stage piano on the left side of the screen. Would be pretty interesting to hear the comparison. It would be nice if you could compare Neo-Soul Keys Studio 2 to the Rhodes. They've done a lot with the new version that definitely stands up to this version.
How does it feel compared against the real thing?
It looks like a great fun plug-in, at first the initial sound (Preset) sounded not so great to me, but after hearing all the possible settings that are available I am very impressed with the sound and capabilities. Thanks for sharing! 😊✌🏼🎹
Interesting- I had it alongside my many older Rhodes (inc 3 MK1's , MK2 Suitcase and MKV) pianos and I could dial in the tone of each super authentically. The V8 can go way beyond the range of those dynamically- dial back the velocity curve and Timbre Shift and you can easily emulate the older machines if you want.
@@goldphinga Actually after listening again on monitors I can hear that you are correct. You can tweak it to the sound you desire. I think it was strange hearing the initial setting with lots of bell and top end. I will amend my original comment. Thanks 😊
@@justincanton all good! Also- the V8 is different to other plugins in that the default sound is super even and unhyped- that allows you to tailor the character exactly as you wish by using all the sound sculpting onboard. 🙏
yeah its superb, i entered my own track yesterday check it out on my YT. love that plugin. SOLD! id be chuffed with a plugin win though 😁
There's a natural "curve of tune" that happens while you play a note on the a real Fender-Rhodes . Unfortunately I didn't heard that curve in any VST yet. But I must say this one is really serious!

Is there a Rhodes V8 Pro user group or Facebook group. I run the V8 Pro in GarageBand and I've just upgraded my Mac computer to Ventura 13.5 and after hours of messing about I think I can only get GarageBand to work when I remove a Rhodes file from a folder called Components which means I can't run V8 Pro any more?

Awesome sounds!! Impressive... So is my Kronos Rhodes.. And my Keyscape Rhodes....
but none have the per note detailing that this plugin has or the sound of the MK8 piano encompassed within. This is something entirely different.

😍Dope Plugin!😍 I own Keyscape, Arturia Stage 73, Scarbee and this tops them for me, but is anyone playing this using a Yamaha Montage at all? The sustain isn't sustaining properly ie sustaining at 50% of the volume immediately after you take your hands of the keys whilst the sustain pedal is pressed down. I have a Roland Fantom also but it works perfectly fine on that - This is with using the exact same sustain pedal. (I've never experience this with any other plugin whilst using my Yamaha Montage to trigger midi plugins. Can anyone help??

It seems there is quite a delay between you playing and the sound coming out. Is the plugin processor heavy and causing the latency? Sounds yummy though

@@goldphinga yeah, I play Keyscape almost daily so I might be biased. But this Rhodes V8 plugin seems to have a quite artificial sound. Especially when he loosens the dampers it sounds like a cheap Roland piano or something
@@goldphinga I have downloaded the trial, I dont really like it. It might be good for recording, but with solo stuff it doesn't even come close to the realism of Keyscape. When you release the key, keyscape has a little sample that plays with mechanical noise of the key releasing. The V8 has it a little bit but it's barely noticeable. It adds SO much in terms of expression and realism, that the V8 just sounds dry. The mechanical sounds that V8 does make, are okay, but they thump way too much, especially if you increase the volume.
