Lifted my 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro and mounted BFGoodrich KO2 tires!

- In this video I geek out over my newly installed Westcott Designs lift kit and BFGoodrich KO2s on my 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. I’m obsessed with how it turned out! I didn’t think the stock stance looked bad… so I didn’t care much about getting this installed. BUT! It came together so nicely. Not only does it look fantastic, it feels so much nicer now!
What are your thoughts?
Do the white letters look okay with the Lunar Rock color?

Looks great! I recently lifted my 2020 4runner TRD Pro ( Army Green ) with the westcott designs lift and installed Falken Wildpeak AT3w in a 285/70/17. So far I'm very pleased with the ride and handling.
Any rubbing?
@@bryanpeezy1 yes there is a little rubbing when turning the wheels in reverse, but it's minimal and I ordered some Rocblokz mud flaps which are a little wider and longer than the stock mud flaps and should take care of the rubbing issues at least from the reviews I have read that should take care of the rubbing issues. New mud flaps should be arriving next week sometime.
Looks good with lift …and the KO2s with the letters out just makes it that much better over the stock look ! Take care brother!!

Man I’m leaning more and more towards the 4Runner for overlanding, moderate Off-roading. GX and LX were my other choices but approach and departure suck, the land cruiser is too big and sucks fuel bad. 4Runner is just the right size with acceptable price, MSRP wise. Yours looks awesome

Hi, did you have to have any modifications done to lift the 4runner to fit the bigger tires? Was there any drilling or cutting required? 4runner looks great with the white outline tires, 285/70/17?

Looks perfect. I’ve ordered my Westcott Designs kit…. Hopefully I can get it installed here in Austin next week. (I was able to adjust my garage door, so my 4Runner will fit inside nicely)

Have the same 4Runner in Lunar and just did my Westcott as well. Trade offs for sure but stance, bigger tires, eliminating body roll, and nose dive made it worth it. Firmer, feel everything now but I think still worth it. Fox suspension before was a cloud so hard to give up but happy currently.

I'm usually not a fan of the white lettering on tires but I must admit that it looks pretty good on your Lunar rock 4Runner 👍
I did the same setup with my cement color 2017 TRD Pro. I also think it looks/sits perfect. Even though they seem like pretty subtle changes (to me) I get a lot of comments on it.

I also considered the Westcott level spacer kit for my 2020 T4R Trd Pro but after watching videos/pics of 4Runners with the kit I'm not sure I like the stance of the "level". In some pics it almost looks like reverse rake. I emailed Westcott about the possibility of them tweaking their kit so that the factory rake can be replicated. No response. In hindsight I should have purchased a base SR5 and kitted it out the way I want.
I also own 4Runner trd pro(2021). Could you also do a review about ride difference that you noticed after you put the lift kit on? Thanks in advance. Always enjoy your videos. Sad to see LC200 go 😞!

Looks good dude!! The 4runner Pro definitely looks awesome in the LunaRock. I would think about going back to the 4runner Pro in LunaRock. But I don’t think I can give up the V8 in my Tundra Pro.

A Ok Buddy.... Lol, looks good but looks almost stock...I bought a 2018 Runner new and was hoping to see more development in the 4" suspension lift range but it hasn't really happened. Seems like everyone is satisfied with small leveling kits and the Runner is behind the competition in terms of wheelwell clearance. I love my runner but I'm dissapointed in the aftermarket options 5 years after making a purchase. Any insights are welcome, I'd like to go with a 4" suspension lift and retain the stance fore and aft. leveling kits look weak in my opinion. Nice setup with the Runner and Tundra, beautiful family, kudos' bros.

Just ordered the Westcott collar lift for my 2016 Quicksand. Really excited after seeing how yours turned out. Going to put 285’s on as well. Looks like they didn’t have to take off mud flaps or trip any plastic? So no rubbing?
I have some minimal rubbing issues with the mud flaps when turning the wheels and backing up.
I'm about to purchase tires, new brakes for my 2021. Do your tires scrub when you make a left turn or right? I was also thinking about getting spacers to improve the stance. My car is fully stocked and I have 31,000 miles on her.
At full lock turn in reverse it’d rub a little.

Curious if you have had any issues running a 285/70r17 on a 7” wide rim… I’ve seen tons of people do it but wasn’t sure if it caused issues due to the min requirement of 7.5” on the tire spec sheet.

That lift looks really good man...it makes the roof rack look better too. The factory rake and roof rack combo looks horrible...like the truck has bad posture or something. This looks great man !!!

It’s beautiful and I’ve been trying to buy one but it’s so hard to get one in California without paying over MSRP. It’s my dream vehicle ❤️😊
should have done the Eibach fox spring kit on all 4 instead. Eibach makes the stock springs for the fox trd pro shocks. Thier TRD pro spring kit raises the front 2” and rear 1”. All with just 4 taller Eibach springs that maintianed the same spring rate. The Westcott system changes the preload and alters the spring rate…just like a puck and spacer kit really. I did the Eibach spring kit on my Pro and its insane sweet.

Looks awesome! Question for you. In the Westcott videos they always take the front mudflaps off when going to 285’s. We’re you able to not have any rubbing of the mudflaps? This is the setup I want on mine (2022), but don’t want to remove the front mudflaps. May have to go with 275’s?

I made this setup work with the mud flaps on. I had minor rubbing at full lock turn and reversing though…. Not too bad.
Did you have any tire rub i got the the icon six 3 inch lift and now have to do a body mount chop

Yep I have the flat rock sliders on this from RSG.
I've been looking to lift my 22' 4Runner TRD PRO and have been looking at Westcott and Eibach kits. I'm curious what sold you on WestCott's solution over say Eibach where they replace the springs? Also is the ride stiffer than stock?
The ride is a little stiffer now but it feels like a huge improvement over stock… especially when braking. Westcott has a great reputation IMO. Good company… and American made. =]

They’ll need to do a realignment after installing any type of lift. It’s standard to do that.

Wondering what options did you select? There’s one with deck rail system and other without I’m so confused which one is the right one to pick? My TRD Pro has deck rail system installed from factory so please advise.

Get the one with deck rail system. It’ll just come with a few extra “extension” plates to allow for your deck system. You’ll love the bakflip.

No plans for the Tundra tbh. I’m content with the stick Pro setup.
I sold mine with 5k miles for 63k. The westcott lift is just a spacer lift. Dunno why everyone is so excited over it.

Thanks man! I do 20% all around. I did 70% in the windshield this time around too… mainly for the heat reduction off the dash. It’s ceramic.

They’d have to prove without a doubt that the failed component of the vehicle failed due to the lift. Which is unlikely.
Which tires do you like more, KO2"s or Ridge grapplers?
It’s tough… if I had to only choose one, I’d go with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers
I have a 2021 PRO as well and recently put the Westcott lift on. Do you think the headlights are a little high with the lift in the front? The LEDs are definitely brighter overall, but I can see just about anyone in a standard height car getting annoyed about being lit up like that. Is this something you noticed or had any issues with?

Hi there - thank you for the content…. I have been a subscriber for some time now. I too have that exact same 21 TRDP in Lunar Rock. I’m debating between no lift and running the 265/70/17 Goodyear UltraTerrain, or installing the Westcott Designs lift (I have it, but haven’t installed it) and installing the 285/70/17. A few questions: A) Do you regret lifting it. B) Is the 4Runner now more bouncy ride because of the stiffer spring rate C) Have you noticed a lot worse fuel mileage/less power. Hope I didn’t overstep on the questions; keep the good content coming!
Hey Harry! Thanks for the comment man, and I appreciate you supporting the channel. For starters, congrats on the lunar rock pro. You have great taste. Hah.I don’t have any regrets with installing the Westcott lift. I truly believe it improved the feel of the vehicle. It’s a bit more firm going over bumps but it holds the road much better… less body roll in turns and way less dive when braking. I noticed a 1mpg drop… no change in power feel. I don’t think you’d regret putting it on. I have a subtle fender rub now but it’s not bad, I think I’ll need to trim a little to make it perfect.

I have a 17 Camaro ZL1 6MT (no sunroof, just the PRD system - total daily driver and go to the road course anyday car). The car only has 7,000 miles on it, perfect condition. I will be puling the trigger on the 285/70/17 today based on your advice! Thanks again, really appreciate it.

If you did this mod and kept the original stock tires. Does this change the ground clearance in anyway?
Yeah it’ll bump the ground clearance by the extract amount of the lift. 2in up front 1.25in in the rear. The tires only added a little more clearance.
It looks great. Did you have any issues with PCS errors after the lift? Curious if you had to calibrate the front radar

I love the way Lunar Rock looks but I can’t live with it personally. I ordered a 2022 in Black. I’m getting the same kit and lift…same wheels too. I’m stealing your build lol over all great looking truck. This is how it should look from factory or Toyota should offer a lift kit.
My dealer told me we cant even order toyotas... id like to order a black 4runner too... they just keep getting white sr5s and thats it
@@18jeepsrt74 correct. We stopped taking orders almost two years ago. You can leave a deposit and on their next allocation they can request one but there’s no guarantee.

So the shop balanced each of the wheels and aligned it after the install. So no issues there. Haven’t experienced any rubbing yet either. Granted I’ve only driven a total of 50 miles since the install. I’ll let you know if I discover any rubbing.
@@UntamedMotors so awesome to hear buddy!! I’ve got a 2018 TRD OR with Bilstein 5100’s set at 0.85” which gives it very similar height to a Pro. I regret not going to 1.75” in the front + 1” in the rear as I’ve heard from Stage3Motorsports that you can squeeze 285’s in there at that height. Only concern is the mpg loss on larger tires due to my commute. Def keep us posted bro! I love the stance 😍🙌🏻

Noob question here. Never lift any vehicle before. If i were to lift mine and get them 285 tires, can i still use the original trd rims?
You can but it's not recommended. I believe 285s need 8 or 8.5 in wheels and the stock TRD wheels are either 7 or 7.5 in. Some shops will mount the tires for you but if you do go offroad and air down your tires to

Do you know if Westcott carries this lift for non-Pro models? I've got a 2021 Trail Edition I'm trying to do the exact same thing to. 1-2" lift with some aggressive Ko2s. Yours looks absolutely killer.

@@Wicked2v2 the Westcott lift consists of lift perch/spacers, it comes in the kit. Their kit doesn’t replace the stock suspension of your 4Runner it only adds to it. You’ll love it, keeping the amazing factory ride and upping the height without spending an arm and leg. =]

When they install the new tires do they give you credit for your old ones if they're semi new? Thinking of getting the off-road but don't like the wheels and tires it comes with. Would want to swap them out ASAP.
Sometimes they’ll do that for you. Call around and ask. They’re much more likely to do it if you drive straight from the dealership to them. I wouldn’t expect anything more than $500 for the set.
@@UntamedMotors thanks for the heads up 👊🏽... Question , are you able to remove add ons before the actual truck gets delivered? Add ons they added , that I don't want. Is not a special order by me, it's what's coming from Toyota. With extra add ons.

$680 was a great deal. I had mine lifted at the dealer for 650 as well.
That price included his tire mounting and balancing too.
