    An unfortunate accident has left Quincey the Quaker parrot without a beak. What are your thoughts on Quincey's injury?

      Nat Geo WILD what are my thoughts? Dr. K said herself that it would take a lot of force to injure the beak like that. I think the owner hurt him

    This breaks my heart. I have quaker parrots of my own. Can't even begin to imagine the pain this bird is going through.

    The beak has obviously rotted away and when the bird touched Something or ran into something to beak fell off! There is an underlying health problem with the bird.🥺

      oh yeah, that's obvious. wondering why the vet didn't mention that but maybe she did we just didn't see it in this clip- do you know if the bird lived by chance?

      Who knows what happend woman isn't telling the whole story, and it's possible someone else living the house had something to do with it.

      I've seen this injury in bird where keepers have tried to trim the beak and cut too far down and the whole beak shatters.

    Its so easy to make a printed resin upper mandabil for the parrot, I've done this twice now once on a java Sparrow and a couple years later with a friends tawny owl. I'm just a bird breeder with no veterinary qualifications at all .The Java started eating the day after and lived a couple of years. My friends owl lived for another 4 years but took a couple of days to eat, but ate a small pinkie first then moved on to day old chicks 3rd or 4th day.

    I’m not blaming the owner cause I just don’t know what happened but I just really want to know how a bird just loses its whole beak like that in a cage? And wouldn’t she have heard him screaming? I just wanna know the story

      @Carla maji the bird wouldn't be able to say what happened though because Quakers can't talk and the birds don't actually know what the words mean they are just repeating what they heard

      It could of easily hit or cracked it on something it bites as big birds seem to do. Doubt the owner did anything

      @@Pinkfood technically speaking the bird mimics speech for example, my cockatiel named Starly says “what are you doing?” And “do you want a cookie?” Since he overheard me say that a lot so he picked that up from me so technically the Quaker parrot can’t say how he injured his beak since birds don’t speak like us humans say how we injure ourselves.

    When I saw this, it breaks my heart as I have the same parrot species. I look after her like a father looking after his daughter. 😔

    thats too bad. I do remember a toucan that had a beak 3d printed. But I believe Dr. K. It's probably too small

    I have baby nightjars and I didn't know where to put them so I put them with quiles and they beat them up and both tost the tip of there top peak so I give them peaces of boiled egg and then make them drink water so the eat the egg because they can't bite it

    You can use a 3-D printer to make a NEW BEAK for the bird! And there are super glues that will keep it on!

    Hii i have African lovebird which I purchase on 15 march but i am observing that my female lovebird is not feeling well since 1 week like she sleeps alot even if we are around the cage or we talked to them than also she didn't not open her eye's like she only open when she is eating her food and after the bath but most of the time she sleeps pl reply

      @@beaknewcomer3835 I don't believe she had no idea what happened for a second. I think that beak was ripped off by another parrot,just like the vet said and there is no way there would have been no blood.

    It can grow back. I read of a Barred owl who lost his upper beak in a collision with a truck, his beak grew back and he was set free

      She said it is possible but not with this much trauma and so much of the beak removed.

      Skeel Court it’s a Quacker not an owl and because owl beaks are smaller than quackers as well so we can only pray for this little birdie😢

      No, it won't in this case. The damage is too severe. They grow back when a piece of beak is missing, not the entire beak.

      Me either. There's another video of her 5 years ago with a lynx and she thinks it's ok to treat the poor baby as if they're a domesticated cat. She went to the vet to see whats wrong with him/her and she just seems odd! Im glad I'm not the only one who feels this way .

      She didn't seem very concerned. I would've been hysterical, or at least very very worried on the video. Won't have such a lot of time for the make up and surely won't just say "oh my God" when the doc said we could lose him. It would break me as a bird owner

      can't have a panic meltdown and drive to the vet at the same time (not without an accident anyway)

      Hard to say from just this clip. I do know though, that just like toddlers, birds are all too good at finding ways to injure themselves when roaming around the house. My guess is that a bigger parrot bit it off, or that Quincy got it caught in something like a heater vent and busted it while trying to get free.

      one's a pet and one's breed for harvest, and the one breed for harvest is typically of a breed that won't live over a year(even kept in lovely humane condition and a varied and balanced diet, they just have been breed to grow so fast that they can't live long)
