It reminds me of China in the 1920s-40s. Except that the Earth Kingdom wasn’t fighting several multi side civil wars. Few regiments could actually go head to head with the invading force. Most soldiers were conscripted peasants with poor training and equipment, officers were ineffective and many were concerned with their own well being.
Earth Kingdom has actually been strong AF always. They defended themselves from the Fire Nation power house for 100 years and then became an empire themselves under Kuvira

The Yellow-Neck Rebellion sounds a lot like the Yellow Turban Rebellion against the Han dynasty in 300-350 bc( I’m not too sure about the dates as it’s been awhile since I’ve brushed up on Chinese history)

When I watched season 4 of Legend of Korra I thought “a dictator in a kids show” they threaten inosant lives just to gain power. I watched clone wars so this was not new to me.
@@alicealfred9986 You can be peaceful but still have something to protect yourself from people who are not, who come to attack and destroy you. They all got wiped out cause they didnt have an army for defense. An army that doesnt attack but for defense is fine. I consider myself a peaceful person and I dont attack people unprovoked but do I have a self defense tool in my bag in case some creep wanna attack me at night when I walk home...yes.

If you were in Aang's position, you may have found it hard to swallow without avenging your fellow air nomads after you defeated the Fire Nation. Airbenders being peaceful is an understatement. Their culture revolves around pacifism, and that's what they are-pacifists.
I wonder how Earth Kingdom in Korra look like…at least the main army. Part of me imagine them looking like NCR soldier from Fallout New Vegas (pith helmet at least), which released a year before Korra.
Did you notice almost everything in the Earth Kingdom is... Green? everyone is wearing green, same with the water tribe and fire nation who wear mostly blue and red, I think I'd go insane in there, is it harrasy to wear other colors? Imagine if everything in the US or the UK was red blue and white.
They might get a good leader because in TLOK Prince Wu ends the monarchy and wanted to switch to a democracy, Toph was almost elected governor of this one state
