Securing Credit through FSA for BIPOC Farmers

Are you a BIPOC farmer who may benefit from the affordable credit options the Farm Service Agency (FSA) offers but are skeptical about applying? The FSA offers low-interest lending options that can work well for farmers with limited financial resources. BIPOC farmers, however, have historically faced barriers to accessing these programs due to the legacy of discriminatory lending practices at USDA. We acknowledge this history and are pleased to see positive changes with this new administration.
In June, the National Young Farmers Coalition hosted a Facebook live conversation with four BIPOC farmers who managed to secure affordable credit for their farms through FSA. They each share how they overcame the challenges they faced in the process, and Young Farmers share general information about applying for FSA loans.
