Despite the recent run the Cubs don't have enough talent to make the playoffs. Jed's roster construction is the problem. Nico Hoerner is a good player, but, he has been injured each and every year.
Not enough DEI hires they need transgenders and illegals on the team to appease the woke Democrats in Chicago.
The problem with the Cubs is that Jed, Carter and the players are all the same guys. There's no mix of different personalities.
They need to represent the liberals in Chicago and put transgenders and illegals on the team then Chicago would embrace them.

Better to get something for Bellinger now by trading him to a contender who will rent him for half a season than for us lose him in the offseason for nothing, seeing as how the Cubs won't sign him to the big contract he wants, and they shouldn't anyway because he's not worth it. So get a good pitcher for him or something, or a catcher that can hit, and just someone who will be on the team for a few years or so and be productive for you. We're not going anywhere this year so it's not like Belli's production really does anything for us this year. So, Cubs can't exactly have a fire sale like in 2021, because there's not much to sell that any teams desperately want or need except for maybe Imanaga, Steele, Busch, and maybe Bellinger, and I think we can trade Belli right now, but it would be dumb to trade the other guys I mentioned. They would never be dumb enough to do that. And there is no point in being buyers either because it won't help the Cubs get to the playoffs this year, so just a small trade or two I could see happening, but other than that, they kind of just have to stand pat until the offseason. These farm pieces/prospects have to start panning out. I mean maybe you could trade Nico, but what the point in doing it this season? Might as well just wait to see how this team is going to pan out the second half of the season.
Belli isn't a rental. He would be worth more if he was because if he didn't have a good year the team just lets him go. But if he's traded and has a bad 2nd half he'll pick up his 30 mil option. Teams are scared of that.

Marlins were struggling and willing to deal about the time the Cubs bullpen went down the tubes, Tanner Scott would have been available. Yes you might have had to give up Triantos and Canario to get him, which people would have said is an overpay but if you acquire him, you are at least firmly entrenched in the WC and possibly first place in the division.
Tanner Scott would not have been that big of an improvement. Yeah he's good but the bullpen is actually looking much better with guys like Hodge, Little, Nervis, Bigge, Miller and Leiter. Also have Merryweather getting close. Bullpen isn't the issue. The offense and defense is

Agreed, Jed has made some good deals, unfortunately for every good one, he’s made two or three bad ones. He’s had enough time and spent enough money, but the fact remains the team is still not a contender. The time to move is now, find a true baseball mind that has some balls and makes intelligent acquisitions and doesn’t sit around waiting for things to fall into place. There has to be someone out there, I just don’t know if team Ricketts is smart enough to find him or her.
