I’m glad Madonna got some confidence back with this big hit because anti-Madonna or Madonna-is-over atmosphere was all over at that time after Erotica/Sex Book. I forgive you for not knowing since you were born in that era. Don't skip the Evita soundtrack before you do Ray of Light. You'll see her vocals change again to a more sophisticated controlled nuance and timber.

You're right, Rain was a huge hit here in Australia (and other countries) while Take a bow was a modest hit. In the US it's the other way around! TAB got a lot of airplay here, so it's well known anongst my generation, but our charts are based on sales alone, and it didn't sell enough to crack the top 10 (it reached around #16 if I remember correctly)
The other who she's singing with it's called Kenneth Edmonds, a.k.a BabyFace, and he's a music legend. He worked with some legendary artists who were on the top in the 90s, such as Boys2Men, Mariah, Whitney, TLC among others, singing and also producing, just like he did with Take a Bow. You should check out his catalogue on Spotify some time.

One of her last performances before singing lessons. She sounded good, even though she's nervous and she sounds shaky or a little bit flat sometimes. You should react to Sooner Or Later live performance at the Academy, that's one of her best performances ever!
