My cheap grommet tool worked for the grommets themselves, but the punch that came with it was utterly unable to cut through canvas. I used it to mark the canvas then used an xacto to cut through the canvas.
Yeah, the cheap tools work, just messy. I used those cheap hammer tools for years to install snaps. Now I wish I had a better press, would have made them look much better.
Thanks for subscribing, name is a long story, but it comes from years of testing dog poop. You can check out mrdogpoop.com and see how Mr Dog Poop got his name.
I've been looking on ebay UK for the green press as you have got, and it appears. that there's a whole punch die with the machine. Did your green machine come with the die punch? And you just decided not to use it. I think I need to do more investigation before I invest in one of these machines.
Those presses are available in so many configurations and with various parts it is overwhelming. The press alone is about $30 so depending on what they package with it the price will go up. The one we purchased did not come with a hole punch. We opted for the 1500 grommets and just purchased the hole punches separately. I woudl assume if it comes with punches they would be pretty good and not like the cheap kit which is basically just disposable after using.
Sorry, I went to public school and they had not invented math yet when I was a kid. So we learned useless things like cursive. As for pressure, not much, maybe a couple pounds. It is a small press and the grommets are small.
I would like to have seen you use all HF ''system'' : hole cutter & grommet setter on the floor. Perhaps what the HF unit needs is a very solid base to work best. Thumbs down for obvious incomplete (misleading) testing.
Not every test makes the final video cut. We did other videos with the HF kit on our studio channel and we had it on a steel anvil on the floor and could not cut with it. We had to resort to cutting it with a razor blade and that is messy and not as strong as a properly cut hole. The point of the video was to show how to do it, not test every single possible tool to a point of exhaustion.

Well two tens = twenty! Maybe Amazon is stuck on common core math? How much pressure did it take when pushing down on the green machine?
