Lived in the heart of Bowness most of my brief 28 years, I have to say this footage is invaluable to me, to see my home village in an age just before/as I was born is a modern age privelage and priceless to me, can’t thank you enough for sharing this vintage footage of the hills I call my home.
A nice and very respectful video of a beautiful part of England. It's nice to see this side of England shown as opposed to the London-centric videos that tourists usually get to see. I love London but the Lake District is a perfect way to escape city life and be surrounded by some natural beauty.
@OTmoe you are right, I should have more of a mix of on-camera commentary with voice-over. This is one of my very early movies :) Now I try and provide that mix. Thanks for the reminder. Dennis
I'm guessing early/mid 90's, by the cars and shellsuits. I spend a lot of time there and a lot of those parking spaces have disappeared. Not a lot different though.
the geordies and cumbrians have more in common with scotland than they have with england or london. so, let us all vote home rule for these two cultures. countries, to be correct.
i suppose home rule for cumbria because it is older than england. the celts were in cumbria before the anglo saxons came near the place. so instead of calling it the lake district of england, we should call it the lake district of britain and even europe. have i any backers here? this dennis guy mixes up england with britain. did he ever study geography of britain? by the way, there are lots of celtic words in the speech patterns of cumbrian speech.

Yes, that is some classic footage! I'm glad it brought back fond memories. Things have changed a bit but the character remains.
This reminds me of my visits in the 1980s...not lost it's charm.
Been to Bowness-On-Windermere a few times. A lovely inland resort. The Lake District is beautiful.
Windermere and Bowness look so different today

Excellent video, I'm hooked!
Awesome dude.
We went there last September. a very nice place to visit. except the rainy day...
Wow thanks for posting! Lake Windemere is a gorgeous place.
Yours are the best travel videos Dennis....sensible, interesting chat.
Great video. Must say though it is the Lake District or Lakes not Lake Country. Lake Windermere is the Largest Lake in England not Great Britain.
