I have a Cryptanthus bivittatus "pink starlight" in a Poison Dart Frog Vivarium under a t5 HO grow light and a coral aquarium light and the color and variegation on that plant is flat out indescribable. Has to be the most beautiful thing i have ever seen, seriously.

@Gatlin Francis thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Such a great video! I recently purchased my first little guy and this video has been so helpful, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience! It is much appreciated!
Eccentric Nature Yes it is amazing how extreme the color change can be for some of the bromeliads although it doesn’t apply to all of them, just some of the varieties.
Omg... I live bromeliads and your collection is jaw dropping. Specially, the one with the red center and the large inner with the Tiger striped leaves. 😍😍😍 I'm definitely adding those to my collection.
Delilah Chaparro I LOVE THEM TOO!!! They are so wonderful and is why I am totally addicted to them! I’m so happy to hear that you will be adding these to your collection! YAAAAAAAY YOU!!! 🤗👍😁🤗👍😁

this is a good video my dear new friend , because i am a plant lover , i enjoy watching with you and leave all my support to you ok ? Stay connected ..
Stunning! Your explanation about removing the pup and showing that was very helpful. I have an earth star that had flowered in the spring/summer and has two pups growing. Im worried about the mother plant as we move into winter (in Canada) as there is much less light and dryness, and she's already looking less happy. Is it unwise to move the pups when it's not spring/summer? I'm thinking of using a UV light (filter it somehow) and removing the pups now, but unsure if this is wise.
I’m setting up a greenhouse cabinet. My temps avg 73 with 84-90% humidity.. is the humidity too high? I’m looking to replicate what they would normally be exposed to in Brazil. Any tips?
Just bought a Red Ribbon, and was searching for care guide. Tfs. After watching your vid, I was wondering since the new pups do not have roots and its in soil, do u water it and when? Will the stem rot etc? All I know are succulents so was wondering.
It can actually take quite a while for roots to develop on the pups so it is key that the stem portion dries out completely. Letting it air dry for a couple of days before planting will assist it. After you’ve planted it you can water it as normal allowing it to dry slightly between watering. You may not notice any root growth for a couple of months but just as long as the plant retains its color and vitality it is still alive and will eventually grow its roots. Just be patient. Thanks so much for watching and wishing you the best with growing your pups. HAPPY GROWING! 🤗
Love this vid so helpful... I recently got a red One A month ago...but now it’s color is fading and I can’t seem to figure out exactly what kind of light it needs to keep it that deep vibrant red. Been researching everywhere, but I still can’t seem to find an answer. Any tips specifically For the red variety?
Thanks so much for joining me on my plant growing adventures and I am glad the video benefitted you. 🤗 Usually to get more vibrant colors you have to keep it in brighter light. There are some that actually expose the deep red color because it is actually is a reaction of the plant getting stressed due to intense light. There are many kinds that can tolerate high light conditions while others can not. Usually the thinner papery ones can’t and will burn easily if given too much light. The thicker leaved ones are normally the ones that can tolerate more.
@@alexhodges4847 Yes, definitely give it a go. I have some Neoregelia Fireballs that turn a deep green in shadier conditions and the only way to get it to turn that intense red is to give it some full sun at least part of the day. Wishing you the best of luck with yours and enjoy!
Thank you...and I can't help it!!! I've got to share my wild frenzy of an addiction with the world!!! I don't want to be alone in my boat...I'd rather have lots and lots of company! LOL!
Do you have a favorite place to purchase the more unique Cryptanthus? I live in Hawaii and sometimes have a very limited supply and access. Any advice is welcome 🙏🏽 Thank you, Celina
Just thought I would add that sometimes it takes months for the pups to root and I have successfully rooted them both in water or soil. Patience is the key. Don't let them dry out for too long, though they can survive a drought period, keep them consistently moist
I've got a solid green earth star plant. I need someone to have a look at it and tell me if something is wrong with it or if there's something I need so different. It doesn't look awful it's just not looking like irs thriving. Not sure how old it isn
HA HA HA!!! ME TOO!!! I've been getting myself into some major plant trouble! I have 2 haul adventures I haven't even posted yet!!! YIKES! SOMEBODY SAVE ME FROM MYSELF!!! LOL!
What do you suggest about damaged leaves? My bro has like 3 leaves that a cat ate on and it's slightly an eyesore. Produced two separate pups for me recently so I dont wanna do any unnecessary harm to it before they are grown.
Well I guess it just depends on how strongly you feel about the eyesore. If it were me I would cut off the damaged leaves and call it a day. I have had dying mother bromeliads in terrible shape continue to bloom sets of pups with no problem. I doubt cutting the leaves would stunt or hinder the growth of pups. But that is what I would do if it were me. But of course it is totally your call. Either way I believe that the pups will grow on schedule. I have a video showing how hardy bromeliads are in one of my propagation videos where I show how I used the stem/rhizome with no leaves to produce pups...so they are unbelievably hardy when it comes to pup production. Thanks for watching and HAPPY GROWING!
@@dylanweaver7827 Not a problem and I think you will be much happier with your decision. Also I would cut at an angle so that it can better hide disguise the cut.
