I have no problem referring to Cam Heyward as Levon Kirkland 2.0, ha. LK was 270lbs+ covering receivers 35-40yds downfield & on the next play sack the QB...absolute MACHINE. Only person I ever saw THAT BIG, run THAT FAST, was his teammate, TE Eric Green. Also, he was a consumate professional, just like Heyward. Loved watchin' him play. 🖤💛
He Was my favorite linebacker in the 90z Man he could move! Always around the ball. I only wish we could go back in time and put him in the middle now cause he could cover which was NUTS!
what an amazing interview. I loved him as a player but knew nothing about him. WOW, a better than expected moment. ....positive energy. Thank you Levon
All-Time great Steeler! I met him a few years after he retired and he was still a HUGE man! I swear his neck was as big as my thighs! Centerpiece to the greatest 4 man LB Corps. Wonderful, thoughtful, humble man.
My absolute favorite player of this era. I met him his rookie year when I traveled from Massachusetts to see them face the Giants in NJ. We stayed in the same hotel as the team and I met him in the gift shop looking for batteries for my camera. He was as humble as you could imagine. He actually came to the bar and had a drink with us. We had beers and he had a water..lol. Spent $380 to get an authentic Kirkland jersey straight from Pittsburgh (no internet sites back then). Best Steelers jersey ever, to this day. He encapsulated everything about that linebacker core. Great interview. #99
Uhhh…that’s Bettis 😂😂😂 Just kidding. I was always amazed at watching Levon play. Watching someone that big with speed covering someone downfield? Just mentally hit me different.
Levon was the jewel of that insane 1992 draft class (Leon Searcy, Levon Kirkland, Joel Steed, Darren Perry) that turned the Steelers around instantly. We need another Levon desperately lol
One of my all time favs! Im partial to the LBs and the RBs while growing up in the 80’s and Kirkland was so much fun to watch! He was truly a clutch performer!
Loved watching Levon. He confessed on the mistake during SB XXX and Emmitt's big 20yrd+ run in the 1st qtr. #22 ended up with less than 50 yards for the whole game! What a testament to that defense going against arguably the greatest offensive line in history. Really miss those guys- including coach C.
Man everyone loved this man even other fans of other teams would always say how can he be so big and so fast!!!! one my all time favorite STEELERS!!!!!
Wow! This i think is a great question. Much as i loved jack lambert i also loved watching kurtland! But which was better? Both were freaken great!!!! Kirkland's size and speed was unheard of. Let's hear everyone's choice
Yes insert a rookie with 7 pass attempts on the season against that Dallas D. Great plan. O'Donnell blew the game but we wouldn't have been close with Kordell
Actually Cowher planned to use all the tricks in the bag, and he didn;t!! Then strategy changed after falling behind 13-0. If not for those 2 INT's that O'DONNELL threw straight to Larry Brown, the Steelers would have won 17-13. THe great EMMITT Smith got only 47 yards???? Half of it on one play. LOVED that sack by Levon on Aikman and I thought the Steelers would pull it out after that.
Imagine him in today's game... probably be a nose like Aaron Donald or an end in 3-4....although it's all hybrid shit now he was a freak of nature and would find a spot
I love Levon, he was such a great part of Steeler history. Wishing him health and happiness from a grateful fan.
Quite possibly the most underrated lb ever ! This dude was a fucking monster
Damn Right 💪
A freak of nature player. I really wish the the guys on defense in that era could have won a Superbowl together.
Had the 90s teams won a SB, those defenses would’ve been thought of as legendary.
this guy looked so intimidating on the field. those shoulder pads were so wide!
a lot of fun to watch play. he was really all over the field.
Levon, I loved watching you play. Incredible and powerful. No one could run on your defense. Thanks for all the great memories.
Loved that era’s defense…A true champion caliber defense that had good to great players at practically every position.
We need more big and fast players. I'm from South Carolina too
He Was my favorite linebacker in the 90z Man he could move! Always around the ball. I only wish we could go back in time and put him in the middle now cause he could cover which was NUTS!
I remember this guy covering wrs 30-40yds down field making over the shoulder picks. Incredible athlete
Awesome player. Thanks 99!
Levon had a great career with the Steelers. He was outstanding in SB XXX. One of my favorite Steelers for those 90s teams. Great interview Stan!
THANKS for being a steeler, ENJOYED you playing with us
what an amazing interview. I loved him as a player but knew nothing about him. WOW, a better than expected moment. ....positive energy. Thank you Levon

Levon Kirkland is probably my favorite Steelers linebacker with the Steelers Franchise
Levon was so fun to watch
He was definitely a beast one of my favorites of all time.
A big man with quick feet
Uhhh…that’s Bettis 😂😂😂
Just kidding. I was always amazed at watching Levon play. Watching someone that big with speed covering someone downfield? Just mentally hit me different.
If the Steelers beat the Cowboys in SB XXX Kirkland probably gets the MVP. That’s how well he played.
What a great guy and a joy to watch on the field. Thanks for those great memories #99.
Kirkland is a soul reason why became a Steeler fan.
My high-school field was Kirkland field so I've always liked him as a player
Loved watching you play, miss that swagger y'all had
Thank you so much for this very well done what a fabulous football player to watch. And a much better person
Levon was the jewel of that insane 1992 draft class (Leon Searcy, Levon Kirkland, Joel Steed, Darren Perry) that turned the Steelers around instantly.
We need another Levon desperately lol
Truly a great Steeler and enjoyed watching him play! What a beast!!
As a Steeler fan I must say I've always admired our ability to find great linebackers.
What a monster of a man and heart of gold just as big!
Levon is one of my favorites. Great to see this interview
Levon Kirkland was a beast
One of my all time favs! Im partial to the LBs and the RBs while growing up in the 80’s and Kirkland was so much fun to watch! He was truly a clutch performer!
In my humble opinion you & Jack were the 2 best MLB’s in Steeler history!! He was soooo big,but soo fast!! That size didn’t slow him down at all
Greatest linebacker crew ever assembled
Loved this guy
Love Levon! So good to see him again
ONE OF THE GREATEST !!!! UP THERE WITH LAMBERT !!!! NO DOUBT ! 👍👍
#99 was incredible! Like seeing a DT play sideline to sideline. Crazy combo of talent & size.
You was so dope bro!
Y’all ….! I thought needed/ should’ve gotten a ring!👏🏾🙌🏾🥇
My dad wore his jersey during my birth, today at 25, I found that same jersey and had to see some highlights
Loved watching Levon. He confessed on the mistake during SB XXX and Emmitt's big 20yrd+ run in the 1st qtr. #22 ended up with less than 50 yards for the whole game! Big Boy Levon was a beast!
Love 99...It killed me when he left the Burgh 🔥👊🔥🌗🌗🌗🌗
Levon Kirkland/BEAST ⚫🟡
Best player on the field in SB 30.. NO DOUBT
Great player
Levon Kirkland is the reason I became a Steelers fan for life
I'm proud of you great move becoming a Steelers fan
The Good Reverend Doctor. Man he was great. An unsung member of those great 90s Steelers defenses
Big Kirk was like the first Giant that lined up as a linebacker. All time Steeler legend
This man, Levon Kirkland, along with Greg Lloyd, should be in the pro football hall of fame.
Good dude!
Man everyone loved this man even other fans of other teams would always say how can he be so big and so fast!!!! one my all time favorite STEELERS!!!!!
99 you was awesome!
Big man in the middle....,?
You should of been on the line! Lol
Love you 99!
Big influation in me..!
Thank you
I had a Kirkland jersey back in the 90s.
Wow! This i think is a great question. Much as i loved jack lambert i also loved watching kurtland! But which was better? Both were freaken great!!!! Kirkland's size and speed was unheard of. Let's hear everyone's choice
#steelers 🏈💪
#99
I still have Levon Kirkland poster hanging on my wall.
He makes that chair look like a kiddie chair.
The widest ILB you'll ever see.
along with lloyd
I have his number 99 jersey.
Disappointed that the Myron Cope call on Levon's over-the-shoulder INT wasn't included, "A 300 LB MAN RUNNING LIKE A GAZELLE!!!"
Two things I believe
1) Jesse James caught that ball!!!
2) Levon Kirkland never missed a tackle, ever, not once!!!!
Unfortunately both lies. By rule at the time that wasn't a catch and he missed plenty of tackles. LOL
I remember Levon making a diving interception in the rain on Monday night football, arguably the best interception I've ever seen.
motor always running
Levon likes his money
limb from limb
i have his jersey i guy i work with found it at a goodwill and it looks great go steelers....
Kirkland was an absolute MONSTER for the Steelers
One of my favorites 😎
He deserves to win that super bowl in 95'. Coach Cowher should have benched Neil O' Donald for Cordell Stewart. What a shame...
Yes insert a rookie with 7 pass attempts on the season against that Dallas D. Great plan. O'Donnell blew the game but we wouldn't have been close with Kordell

LOVED that sack by Levon on Aikman and I thought the Steelers would pull it out after that.
I was such a huge fan of Levon's. Even bigger now after seeing this interview. Seems like a great guy.
Imagine him in today's game... probably be a nose like Aaron Donald or an end in 3-4....although it's all hybrid shit now he was a freak of nature and would find a spot
Why the music in the background ? I wanna hear the conversation, not music.
Ryan Shazier was too small for middle linebacker, but he was fast too. Should've been outside like Taylor. Devin
Devin Bush was too short
South Carolina's own.
